Sears

The building looks amazing. That was the good part. I will NEVER use ship to store at Sears again! I ordered and paid for uniform pants online and had them shipped to the store; I wanted them shipped to me, but that option was grayed out. When I got there to pick up, the day after I got the pickup email, the order wasn’t ready. Then the employee said they do not carry that brand and he would have to get me something else. I showed the confirmation email and he said he didn’t know why the email said they had those pants: that store doesn’t carry them. He brought me lightweight cargo pants instead of the adjustable waist, double-​knee heavy duty ones I ordered. When I tried to return them, I was told they could not process the refund because I used PayPal online. I told them I didn’t want a refund; they could just ship the pants to my house. He said that was not an option. I spent over an hour at another store, and still didn’t get the pants I paid for — right brand, wrong color.

Worst experience ever! I did a layaway online to pick up in store, long story short they canceled it because the items were no longer available yet they charged me for the cancelation fee. I called the .com number and their service was just as bad as the store. All they have there is incompetent people working there. Sad part is I called the corporate number also and no one was able to help me. Never shopping here or online again!

I ordered a bike, had to wait a week I go and pick it up & they come out to tell me that the bike I ordered got sold to someone else there at the store. Very disappointed & super unprofessional. First time in years coming back & this is what happens?

Not worth the headache! Sears failed us greatly we ordered on line and needless to say our new fridge is sitting pretty but the haulaway service we paid for has still yet to be completed. Forget customer service they didn’t do a thing on the day of delivery. Now not only did I set aside more time from work for a second pick up but somehow that pick up date and time never made it on their records and was reschedule for a week later. Now they expect me to set aside more time for a third attempt at something they can’t seem to get done correctly. Mind you this is a service I paid for and they have collected on already. Don’t waste your money spend your hard earned cash else where. Also SCE has a FREE haulaway with a cash incentive. Now I know better and so does anyone who ask me if they should appliance shop at Sears. Don’t do it! You’ll be glad you didn’t. For all the inconvenience a gift card refunding your haul away fee and another 3 hours of work time lost. Thanks a lot Sears who knew a simple fridge for a decent price would end up costing so much in the end.

This Sears is old school. Located in East L.A., you’ll find whatever you’re looking for. It does tend to get a bit crowded though so I would recommend trying to go during off peak hours.

Back in the late 1950s to 1964 this was the go-​to place on the eastside for furniture, appliances, and all the stuff you’d go to a department store for. As a kid I’ve got nothing but nice memories of this store. My parents furnished our home (in Wyvernwood Apts) from stuff at this store. My bedroom window faced the Sears tower. The big neon SEARS sign at the top of tower flashed green; and on the east-​facing side of the building in red neon letters was Sears Roebuck Simpson Ltd.

If you want aggravation enough to give you a stroke or a heart attack then you should buy an appliance from Sears! Otherwise, STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIARS!!!

This place is a category 12 paisa place. Of course 12 being the worst. If your looking for negative exposure to another culture you’ve come to the right place. Don’t let the Starbucks across the street fool you. Remember to lock your car and pay attention to your surroundings. Carry your keys with you at all times and prepare to use them as a weapon if need be. Have 911 on speed dial.
Now that all safety warnings are in place let us begin our review. If you parked on the Tijuana side of Sears which is the front entrance on Olympic, you’ll find an assortment of characters and nefarious villains from a Telemundo soap opera. No doubt you will have noticed several unlicensed street vendors peddling some homemade concoction of fermented corn with ice probably prepared in a their homes bathtub. If you can drink this stuff you deserve a one way ticket to Syria because you have no idea what danger is. In addition you will be approached by several shady looking males missing teeth about «teenteen your weendohooz meestehr! Reelee cheepee!”(window tinting). As you swat these annoying flies away you will see the stairs. As you still approach the stairs there will be some EBT roll winners peddling chocolates for their school. Baby mama will be on her cell talking to baby dady about «wheres the money you promised last week.» All the while their poor child roughly 8 years old will be smiling at you holding the chocolate box saying «chocolat meeestehr?» You will also see some what appears to be a taco cart in front of the entrance but no taco only the same hot dog poor «Diego» has been rolling over and over and over since yesterday when no one bought it either.
Congratulations you’ve made it to the stairs. In front of you are some of the dirtiest and steepest stairs that are not customer friendly. If you come there with a fat person or mobility limited elderly, good luck.
You open the greasy front door with the matching greasy glass you are now inside. Everything inside is CASH ONLY or SEARS CREDIT CARD. Did I mention there network is always down so they may only accept CASH ONLY. You will be surrounded by the sights of people dressed in dingy yellow wife beaters and dirty looking unkempt ladies in stained sweatpants and the occassional screaming child for your auditory pleasure. If you want to try your spanish even if you are a «pocho» go ahead since the last guy who spoke english was the pan handler in the parking lot with the window tinting business.
Everyone in the store is tatooed and pierced from head to toe except the mannequinns but don’t worry they are on order. In addition you will see people with sears shirts cursing loudly and ladies gossiping about the «the jerk… screw that… who does he think he is?» Congratulations you have found the employees. You poor soul you are now in the armpit of hell. You will see leaking stained ceiling tile and a wet cracked crusty floor. You will notice a multitude of people in line as long as the macy’s day parade but the only balloons you’ll see are the blimps in front of you looking to make a $ 5 dollar payment on their account. Never mind that your buying $ 300 dollars worth of tools, «Conchita» and her kids «Snoopy, and Puppet need to make a payment on their account in the total combined amount of $ 10 dollars. Your too far in now to leave and so you slowly ooze out of the door emotionally and physically drained because you just lost 4.9 hours of your life at Sears.

I went in yesterday to take a look at the jewelry section i was looking at the rings there was 2 ladys they were both busy one was in the oher side but one had seen me since i got there she didnt even bother saying oh hi, i can get one to help you nothing so un professional! So the «manager» came and was not helpful at all we really wanted to buy but i guess no at this store and it was my first time coming in to this store doesnt even deserve one star.

My 4 star rating comes from 2 aspects of Sears that are actually quite irrelevant to this big chain store! One of my memories is coming here with my family while I was young! The second and most important which continues to bring me back after 31 years are the street vendors which sell Tejuino estilo Guadalajara! It is the bomb! I highly recommend it! Either side of the streets work! Yummy

Bought a washer on october 14.
They said i would be able to pick it up on the 23^rd. I waited, showed up and they told me it wouldn’t arrive until the 3^rd of november
So i went today and they said it has arrived still to wait for their call. Won’t purchase anything from here again unless i know for a fact its in stock.

Being that its an Old building I tried not to give it a bad review, I love my city and its history. I purchased a washer/​dryer from this sears and they said everything was included free delivery, free basic hook-​up, etc. They came to deliver my washer/​dryer but the paper said no hook up. They had to take it back because I didn’t have the right outlet. I got the situation fixed. I tried calling Sears and left them my number to ask about the hook up its been 3wks and no call back and still no washer/​dryer not to mention they also said the hoses and other parts were included and the deliver guy said they weren’t. THIS SEARS SUCKS not the building SEARS. Hopefully they evict them and make better use of this historic building

The only thing that I’m disappointed about is that I can’t give them ZERO STARS. The service was exceptionally bad. I purchased a television online, listed someone for a third party pickup, and called to make sure everything was fine before having the person drive to the store. When they arrived, they told them there was a problem with the order, that they weren’t listed for a third party pickup and basically treated them like a criminal. It made it so obvious why Sears is doing so poorly and there is talk of them being forced into bankruptcy. It is so sad to see a retailer that was once so great and all about customer service be reduced to what it is. On top of all this, their associates were just plain rude. I would stay away. There are way too many department stores out there that care about there customers to buy anything from Sears.

Being that its the oldest Sears in the area, its pretty dang dingy. Nothing has really changed at this locale. Store needs a major renovation. I remember being a kid and we used to live near downtown, this was the only Sears around.
Not anymore.
Anyways, came here since my wifes mother lives in the area and she needed a new tv. The person that helped us in the dept. was very nice, and even approved a discount due to wrong price on the tv. So i left happy.
Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t venture to this Sears unless I really needed too.

This is a perfect example as to way America is failing. Lazy employees who acts as if they don’t understand why businesses go out of business. Simply the worst experience I’ve ever had. More standing around than Caltrans workers. The notion of customer service is lost on Sears. Come to think of Sears started to tank once other businesses adopted the idea of the tending to you customers. RIP Sears

Wow, what can I say, this place is by far the worse retail store ever, their customer service is bad but there guaranteed services rendered are crap or worse none existent! I have shopped there before and Sears in general is a very bad place to purchase appliances from, they are sneaky, unprofessional, and simply do not care about their customers at all. My parents bought a washer a few months ago, It messed up twice already, mind you it’s still new. My father didn’t originally buy protection on it because the sales associate Angela stated that it has 1 year manufacturer protection, now were in a dilemma because it messed up and we have no protection, I called the sales associate to add protection on it and she informed me that we can buy the protection insurance up to 1 year after purchase, so I did… I bought the insurance coverage less than 3 months into the purchase (this protection was to pay for the labor) because according to her the machine already had 1 year manufacture all parts covered. 3 weeks into talking to many associates, Angela, Denise, Gregg, linda (meldrid), Clyde, Perla, Derin (Manager) and three more associated plus 1 more manager, I wrote their names down too but threw the note in the trash because it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve been dealing with them and that was in the beginning. They all kept messing up so bad, first the sale was not found, second the two technicians that came to see the washer canceled their notes on the service/​visit, although one said the washer was new, and for it to be broken of what it was broken of, this washer was broken due to a manufacture malfunction not its wear and tear, he said he will put an order to replace the washer, which was fine with me, really didn’t care as long as it was fixed. Now today the associate Perla informed me that the washer was incorrectly covered by their associates and they would refund the total dollar amount I paid for the insurance, WTF, really now I am stuck I have spent 3 weeks dealing with these Freaken Neanderthals, two days of work cut short to accommodate and meet the technician from 1−5pm open window, and 3 cut off phone lines while talking to the assicates for more than 1hr 30min per call, really this is clearly bull shit! Now I ask okay fine again you guys messed up and I as a customer, where do I stand what good faith can I have as a returning customer, I mean the washer isn’t even 3 months old, WTF? Plus it’s a manufacturer malfunction, they didn’t even want to waive the labor service, this is ridiculous I’ve spend time off of work=money, I’ve spent time going to the Laundromat= money, I’ve spend time on the phone with several associates for longer than 1.5 hrs and the phone simply gets cut off, now I am talking to Melissa and she informes me that the guarantee is actually 30days not 90day, I mean does anyone at sears know what the hell they are talking about? There is new information every time I talk to an associate and all info that directs this situation at us not getting the washer fixed, yup Melisa this manager has clearly informed me that they do not cover a coin operated washer fixes, they do not give any guarantee, we are stuck in limbo oh but she was kind enough to offer a 100 $ gift certificate and a 10% discount on a new purchase of washer, mind you it’s less than 3 months old and we still haven’t finished paying for it, but I can totally use this 10% discount of a new washer, Oh but they will make sure to put a quality assurance to the sales associated that helped me and sold the product, yay! Melisa even said, wow I dont even know what to tell you, i don’t know what to say, Ive never dealt with this… I mean I feel sorry for you that we cannot help you, and that you have continuously been misinformed (reiterating all I’ve said, like this will make it better, don’t use reverse psychology on me Lady, man!). jajaja this place is a freaken joke, man I want to curse the heck out of this place and all its dumb ass associates, but Unilocal doesn’t let us type profanity! All I can do now is sell that piece of shit gift card to some other poor soul and put the money into the payment for the washer. This freaken blows!!! I would rate them –0 infinity if I could (period)!!!

Waiting for the 100 $ gift card that Melisa the manager was supposed to send out to us, well haha jokes on us, Once again they have faulted on their words, we never received the gift card, these people are a joke, the company is a joke, DO NOT BUY from them! Unless you do not mind all the hassle, not worth it! Again thats why this place will not make it, CUSTOMER SERVICE, Loyalty, and Integrity is key to keeping customer coming back, its a shame, these types of issues occur! I must inform you guys, my father went in many times to sears and talked to the initial sales person, Angela, she called the Manufacturer & only through them we were able to get the washer issue fixed, Yay to the Manufacturer.

Why does this store still exist? Only reason why I would give them a star is because they carry ok tools/​appliances and it ends there.

I’ve been to this Sears a couple of times and it’s okay but the area, well you experience that for yourself. They call this store now «Sears Boyle» of course it’s understandable. But I guess it’s become a bit modern with that name. When you go here — hide your valuables or don’t bring them at all. At least bring your phone. The employees are okay. But you find what you find. I say try the Montebello location.

My first impression upon seeing this building: Why is there a correctional facility in the middle of West L.A.?? My friend then points to the old school dinosaur signage: Sears. Ohhh, makes sense?
Not being from the area, it was a head-​ache driving around West LA and trying to get to a sears so I could buy a shirt for a night out. I think it took me 30 mins to drive 3 – 4 miles. Plus when I got to the Sears parking lot, they only allotted me an hour to shop and if I went over I’d have to pay a parking fee. Had I known, I would have took a couple of shots and went drunk shopping. I’d be in and out in less than 5 mins with a empty bank acct.
This store definitely needs a face-​life. The inside of the store takes me back to the 90’s. We all know Sears is a dying business and probably will go bankrupt any month now, but GEZ, have a little pride!
I went to their suit area since I needed to buy a coat, and I asked a store associate if they would be kind enough to measure the length of my arm. They shot me down. Whenever I go to a big successful department store, getting measurements would never be an issue, but I guess it is for sear associates. There were 4 of them just standing on the side and gossiping with each other, no WONDER sears is going out of business.
Not impressed with this Sears location. I gave upp-​ed the rating of this store because I thought the prices were fair.

The mission — go in, purchase a washer and get out. Mission was accomplished successfully.
Parking was easily found at the rear lot off of Olympic Blvd.
The department store was completely empty on this weekday evening. So we quickly made our way to the appliance section of the store. Having perused the weekly ads prior, I knew the brand and capacity of washer I wanted. Nevertheless, I found myself looking at all washers on the floor, opening them and touching all button and knobs — you know you have to.
An associate approached us asking if we needed assistance, but still in tactile– sensory mode I said we were still looking.
Having made our choice, we called for an associate who came over with his iPad and processed all of our transaction all while I thought to myself… I could have done that at home…
Nevertheless, this associate provided us with great service. He never suggested buying the high efficiency version of the model we chose or another more expensive washer.
To our purchase the advertised 5% rebate was applied, however, that went towards the $ 69.99 delivery fee! Yikes!
Suggestion: If you have a friend with a pick-​up truck ask for them to help you pick-​up an appliance and offer to buy them lunch/​dinner/​gas.
Sears has competitive prices on appliances and after doing some research I found them to be less expensive than other appliance retailers for good brands like GE and Maytag.
