Established in 2009.

The business has been around for a long time, but it is under new ownership as of 2009. Determined to turn a simple news stand into a work of art, the owner, Brendan, is working hard to make Sherwood unique, beautiful and comprehensive.

Was looking for someone to find an obscure German magazine and Dimitri and Sherwood magazines was recommended. I am glad I followed the advice. Not only did he find the magazines in a timely manner but called me several times to confirm my order and to let me know that they had arrived. I also paid less than I expected. I will definitely be going back whenever I need a periodical. Dimitri is a most honest, gracious and professional vendor.

Absolutely love Dimitri! Found him online for my travels through LA as I was looking for some British newspapers and magazines. He was able to get that days print and past issues for me on the Daily Mail! Hopefully this will be a long relationship! And he is an absolute gem of a man! Dimitri has provided me with the excellent customer service.
He tracked down the international Charlie Hebdo magazine and sold it for cost. Needless to say he could have sold it for more. Needless to say every other other retailer couldn’t even get the magazine.
This is the place to go. This is the guy to see. Don’t waste your time. Call Dimitri first.
There are a lot of places to buy magazines. But if you shop here you support a small business, a businessman with old school integrity, and a catalog of extraordinary quality.

A huge thank you to Mr. Stergiou who jumped through hoops and hurdles to get his patrons copies of the newest Charlie Hedbo issue! He didn’t make a profit off of this sale because he sold it for the converted original price + tax; that was his one requirement in making it available to me and I greatly appreciate his honest approach to business.

Great hours and customer service! Dimitri went out of his way to help me get a foreign magazine, and charged me far less than he could have. He kept in communication and answered all of my questions quickly.
Parking can be a challenge, but there is a large red zone across the small residential street if you are willing to risk it for a quick run across the street.
His level of customer service is outstanding; I’ve often asked why anyone would pay cover prices on some magazines – it’s to support businesses like this.

Dimitri is a total gem to talk with and incredible, taking extraordinary lengths to acquire the Charlie Hebdo (CH) post-​attack edition. I tried probably 10 newstands in LA the week the paper came out and Dimitri is the only one that got it. Given the importance of the events and the meaning behind this particular edition, Dimitri could have charged a fortune, but evidencing his integrity, he charged the normal rate for the paper, with the understanding that the proceeds of the papers sold goes to help the families of the slain CH employees. Dimitri kept me up-​to-​date on his progress in trying to acquire the papers for a week, and texting me when they came in. Dimitri and Sherwood Magazines will be my go to place for any international magazine. Dimitri even said he would look into where to acquire a subscription to the magazine for my mom. What else can I say? He’s amazing!

I have never visited this location before but I had an amazing customer service experience from them. I emailed them a couple of months ago, asking whether they were selling Italian comic books. They told me they did not sell them but that they would have asked to their distributor. Today, I received an email from them, saying that they were finally able to get these Italian comic books. Unfortunately for them, the newsstand close to my house already started getting them as well, but I very much appreciate the fact that they remembered my request, they actively pursued it and they came back to me via email. I will consider them for my future business.

I happen to walk by one day and casually mention to a friend that I was looking for the Rihanna LUI cover and he miraculously pulled one out over a month after it had been released… It was amazing he even said that he can special order other specialty international issues which is amazing, as being in fashion I love the diversity of non domestic publications… Thank you again Dimitri!

Dimitri was so wonderful to me this week when I called from Massachusetts requesting a certain magazine I had been trying to track down for days. He told me it was currently sold out in his store but he immediately ordered more issues for me. He was happy to go to the post office and find the cheapest way to ship it to me, provided me with tracking numbers and receipts for my order. He really went SO above and beyond for me in terms of customer service. He was always so pleasant and happy to help. I was thrilled with my experience in ordering magazines with him. I would absolutely recommend Sherwood magazines to anyone in the area or like me, searching for a hard to find issue all the way across the country.

Sherwood Magazines is easily the best magazine stand that I’ve found in LA. I’ve been looking for a particular international magazine for a while — the Lui issue with Rihanna on the cover. I tried multiple book stores and magazine stands in my neighborhood but nowhere had the issue that I was seeking. So after about 5 failed attempts I tried calling Sherwood magazine after reading positive reviews about their service. I called and placed an order on Sunday and was able to drop by and pick up the correct Lui issue I was looking for on Tuesday. Great service, great guy, and an easy, breezy Rihanna covergirl experience.
