Skyline Border Terriers

Just to address Gary’s response to my email, I didn’t feel like you asked any «hard questions.» We had one, initial conversation about purchasing the dog — which consisted of mostly surface level questions. I eventually asked you about price, which seems like a pretty standard question when inquiring about a dog. These dogs are regularly between $ 1500 – 2000, and if you are the kind of person (like me) who refuses to have a dog shipped to you, then you have a right to ask about a price. I was not a fan of my experience here.

My border came into my home and immediately terrorized my 2 cats and peed and pooped on my carpets. She was out of control from day 1, and I can’t take the blame for that. Then when I reached out to Gary and Paula because I was so unhappy with my dog, they threw me on some crazy behaviorist that has a horrible reputation for basically being a psycho, who told me everything was all my fault. They were all completely unhelpful with the problems I encountered and I ended up telling them never to contact me again. The crazy behaviorist said that she sees anxious dogs come out of Skyline all the time, so… buyer beware.

I have received many emails from people who had bad dealings with you. You will not believe how many have responded.

My fiancé and I spent over 3 years researching dog breeds before making one of the best decisions of our lives and getting our puppy from Skyline Border Terriers. Once you decide on a dog breed, it can be quite a challenge to find a trustworthy breeder. We actually found out about Skyline Border Terriers by running after a woman walking her border around our neighborhood. Thankfully, she didn’t mind and began to gush about Gary and Paula and their dogs. She loved them so much that she bought her second border from them as well. A repeat customer! We called Gary and Paula right away and eventually brought home our new best friend.
Gary and Paula genuinely care about their dogs and will give you an extensive interview before allowing you to place a deposit on one of their puppies. Don’t be offended! It is a standard practice for all good breeders and it just shows how much love your puppy will receive before you even bring him or her home. Skyline puppies receive a lot of handling and personal attention when they are small. Our pup always receives ton of complements since she is so well behaved when handled and is extremely friendly to babies, kids, adults, even other dogs! She is so friendly that people at the dog park jokingly call her «the mayor» since she insists on greeting every single dog and human there. :) Gary and Paula are wonderful breeders who will make your life SO much easier for many years to come by providing a well-​bred, healthy, and socialized dog. Their dogs are not cheap but they are worth every penny. We can’t imagine life without our Holly. If you are looking for a border terrier, give Gary and Paula a call.

Thanks to Paula and Gary Wolf, we have a beautiful, healthy and much loved addition to our family. While it’s true that Skyline Border Terriers breeds champions, that was not our first concern. We were looking for a pet that came from a loving and caring place. After visiting their home a handful of times, we can assure you this is such a place. Paula and Gary genuinely care about the well-​being of their dogs and that extends to after the dogs have been adopted. For that reason, they ask a lot of questions. If they seem invasive, it’s only done with the dogs’ best interest in mind. We found our experience with Skyline to be very pleasant and very professional. They welcomed us into their lovely home where it is immediately obvious how much they care for Border Terriers and their dogs in particular. They kept us informed every step of the way and helped us decide which litter and which puppy would fit best in our home. They were spot-​on. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Skyline Border Terriers and our 11-​month old pup!

Our experience was worse than Alyssa’s. We were attracted tot his breeder by their record of producing champion border terriers. In September of last year, we called and Gary Wolf told us that a litter was due soon and asked for a deposit of $ 1,000, which we sent him. The check was cashed on ⁹⁄₁₇. On September 28, Paula Wolf called and said that the bitch had whelped, and that while one of the two female pups was stillborn, the second had survived and would be available to travel in about 8 weeks. On October 4, Gary called and told us that the second pup had died of respiratory complications. He said that a second bitch was about to go into heat and suggested that we wait for the next litter. After discussing it, we decided to go to another breeder. We called and asked for the refund of our deposit. After waiting a week, we called again. Gary claimed that he has not understood that we wanted a refund. Two subsequent calls produced assurances that the check was on the way. Since then, our calls have gone unreturned and our messages unanswered. A registered letter has garnered no response. This is obviously fraud and we will have to go to small claims court to get a judgment, which involve traveling to LA and then trying to collect from these people, who I assume are broke.

We were looking for a reputable breeder in order to find another Border Terrier to bring into our family. Our first Border Terrier came from a lovely breeder in the LA area who had recently passed away.
I found Gary’s website and it looked like these are the best breeders in the area. So many awards and recognition.
I called him and we set up an adoption. Before sending him the $ 1000 deposit for a puppy (50% of total price of the puppy), I requested OFA/​CERF (which are health certifications provided by reputable breeders which insure no genetic disorders) as well as the Pedigree, just to make sure there was no inbreeding and that the dogs were certified healthy.
Gary responded by terminating our adoption arrangement. No explanation provided. Seems suspicious.
Please, if you are looking to adopt a Border Terrier, contact another breeder, one who certifies the health of their animals to insure the betterment of the breed.
