Description

Specialties

Beautiful open kitchen with a wood burning oven, small and large distressed wood tables, rush chairs, and sponged walls atop a 250 year old floor from Italian cathedral enhances the warm and friendly interior.

«People don’t come here to look. they come here to ear.»

History

Established in 2003.

Following in the successful footsteps of the AGO restaurants, owner/restaurateur Agostino Sciandri has opened a homey Italian Trattoria in Brentwood that formerly housed a branch of his Rosti. He has «brought Italy to our doorstep» with a menu offering traditional Florentine dishes.

Meet the Business Owner

Agostino Sciandri S.

Business Owner

After graduating culinary arts school in 1961, Sciandri moved to London, where he worked for nearly a decade, mostly at French restaurants, including the Savoy Hotel. He then moved with his wife and three small children to Forte dei Marmi, a seaside Tuscany resort near where he had grown up, and spent the next 13 years there as a chef in one the area’s top hotels. Seeking an adventure, a challenge and a change of pace, Sciandri moved to Los Angeles in 1985. At the time, there were not a lot of Italian restaurants in L.A., and those that did exist were of the red-and-white-checkerboard-tablecloth, chicken-parmesan, spaghetti-and-meatball variety. When he opened Toscana in 1989, you couldn’t get parking, much less in the door. Then a long eight years later he opened AGO and it became the place for power, money, and celebrity, to see and to be seen, while eating the signature veal chop. After Ago’s success Sciandri added Caffe’ Roma, Toscanova, SorTino, and The Juicy Bird to his family.
