I’ve been using South Park Doggie Daycare for nearly three years. I will continue to bring my two Shih Tzu boys to the facility as long as I live in Los Angeles. Staff members always remember their names, give me updates on their behavior, and are friendly. The prices are reasonable for daycare & the packages are very good for sporadic daycare users like me. One of my dogs is very shy, but the staff does their best to try to engage him in playtime. On occasion I’ve used the boarding & grooming services. It was always easy to book the dogs for boarding and I’d check in with the webcams. While I’m sad that they no longer offer grooming at this location, I appreciate that they care about who they hire and the quality of work. Any minor issues I’ve had were quickly resolved in a professional and courteous manner.

Great job! Their prices were very reasonable and they were so sweet to my dog. She smelled amazing and looked great. I would highly recommend them!

This place has always been very professional and taken excellent care of my dog! They are very flexible and work with you on pricing and discounts on multi nights stays. Really enjoyed watching my dog Bella play with her friends great feature!

We left our dog BonBon over the weekend with South Park. It was pretty last minute because we thought my wife’s father would be able to watch him. They have two locations one near LAX (closer to where we live) and another near downtown (closer to her parents). We chose the location downtown because we need to be in that area anyways.
Staff was amazing and very helpful.
Price was great! We dropped him off Friday around 1 pm and picked him up Sunday at 9 am and it cost us $ 95 for a private room.
After picking him up, they give you all your items that you brought with your dog and a report card of how your dog did.
You can even watch your dog by logging on to the internet (we did not because we did not have internet connection at the time)
Our dog is a small Shitzu who has not been properly socialized. I was hoping he would want to play with other dogs, but I guess he just likes his own space.
This location or the LAX location will definitely be our go to place to drop of BonBon!

My dog, Juneau, had a great time at South Park Doggie while we went to Hawaii. We were really happy that they have a webcam so we could see what the dogs were up to at any time of the day. The owner was very intuitive about dog care and assertive so that all the dogs seemed to respect him and see him as the «pack leader!»
The facilities were kept very clean. We still had them give Juneau a good grooming before we took her home though, because I know the dogs had so much fun sniffing and slobbering all over each other for the week, lol. Her fur felt soft and she smelled nice and clean before bringing her home.
I am glad that all the dogs are «interviewed» before allowing to board there, so they have a good temperament and will get along with other dogs. And the most important thing is they don’t keep the dogs in cages. I could never leave my pets in one of those boarding places where they would just leave the dogs in cages all day.
Juneau had so much fun during the week and was so exhausted from the great walks and playtime. When we brought her home, she had to lay down and nap for a few hours. It was really cute.
I will definitely be bringing her back for our next vacation.

My dog, Hadley, absolutely loves this doggie day care! It’s convenient, affordable and perfect for us. Their hours are long and you can even watch your pup on a cam while you’re at work!

I utilized their doggie daycare services for my little one about a month agao and they did a great job.

South Park Doggie Daycare was an amazing place to bring our dog in while we were on vacation in LA.
We brought our pup in for an evaluation on Thursday morning. It was amazing that they do not charge you for the day of care while your dog is being evaluated. I was very pleased with all the questions they asked about our pup. They definitely care about our dog’s experience at South Park Doggie!
When we picked her up later that evening we received a report card with how our pup did (passed with flying colors). We had told them ahead of time that we were planning to bring our pup in on Saturday night for an overnight stay.
This was the first time we had let our dog board with a daycare and everything went well! They have webcams where you can see the dogs play and that’s definitely a plus if you miss your pup.

Awesome place with great staff. My dog henry loves coming here to hangout with all of his friends. I highly recommend it to any dog owners looking for a friendly place to let their dog socialize.

South Park Doggie is the only place we will take our sweet dog Tillie. We tried numerous places and even our ‘trusted’ vet to no avail. She would come back stressed and distraught. The first time we tried SP Doggie we had to beg her to come home with us, she was so happy post-​visit. Gary and his team were awesome and I would recommend them to anyone who wants a trusted, clean and fun place for their pets. We also love the cameras and the end of visit report card. Nothing can compare to feeling like your pet is truly being loved and cared for!

Took my furry babe here for grooming based on the good reviews. The groomer and the staff are all really nice so I left without any concerns. I specifically told the groomer about my requests for the haircut and I also left the dog collar and leash to her. I was a bit disappointed when I saw my dog’s new hair cut – his hair was really uneven and way too short. I also found out the collar I just purchased 2 weeks was broken. I made the lady at the front desk call the groomer and asked her what happened to the collar but obviously she had no idea! They nicely offered a little discount so I decided to be nice about the collar and the ugly haircut and just left. After I left the store I realized they forgot to return my leash too so I had to ask for my leash back… ugh!
What made me give only ONE star rating? I was really upset to see a big abrasion near my dog’s hind legs (which they never told me about it when I picked up the dog!) I’d definitely be cool with it if they were honest and open about it– I understand it happens because dogs move around and stuff (although I was informed by all previous groomers that my dog is really well-​behaved and calm) I certainly don’t appreciate the dishonesty and disorganization of their business. Won’t go back there for sure! :(

We had a very good experience boarding our dog Snoopy over the Holiday weekend. He came home happy was very tired after playing with his friends. The webcam feature was excellent, and to top it we received a full report card on how he slept, how he ate, whom he played with and even received an «A» for his overall grade! We are so proud of him we put his report card on our refrigerator! Lol. Thank you South Park. You will be highly recommended to all our friends.

This place has been such a great resource for us and our pup, who is a huge anxious mess can be really awkward around other dogs. Our dog is a rescue with pretty severe separation anxiety, and it broke our hearts and our neighbors’ ears to leave him home for long periods of time. At the same time, we were told that he likely lacked socialization as a puppy and had some nasty experiences with other dogs in his long journey to adoption (we got him at about age 4, and he was passed around for about 2 years before we adopted him). This is all to say, we were a little worried he might not fit in.
South Park to the rescue! Their full-​day temperament test (and free daycare trial) was GREAT! They were able to see how my dog gets along with the other dogs in the play area for large dogs. The staff are all extremely attentive and there is always someone in the play areas with the dogs to prevent any conflict between dogs and to keep them clean. The first visit, my dog dropped a huge deuce after about 5 seconds of being in the play area and someone cleaned it up immediately. If any of the dogs snaps or humps or does anything that another dog might not like, they are put in ‘time out’ for a few minutes to give everyone time to calm down.
We’ve been taking our dog to South Park once or twice per week for about a month and a half now. They have given me updates on how he has adjusted over time, and they seem to really have a personal understanding of our dog. All of the staff know our dog by name. Now, whenever my dog senses we are driving nearby, he starts getting really excited! He always comes home exhausted and happy.

Horrible experience about a year and a half ago. When I set up the stay told me someone is with the dogs all night and my dog was completely alone in the dark when I arrived at 8. I was in contact with the owner because my day ran late an I explained prior to the stay that it would be a later pick up. Owner assured me that there would be someone on the premises. When I went to pick up my dog around 730 it was completely dark and vacant and I didn’t get in till 8pm because someone had to come unlock the whole facility. The owner begged me not to write a bad review, it was so pathetic at the time I decided not to write the review. I also was so pissed
I didn’t want to relive it in the writing of it, but the experience has stuck with me and I feel I am doing a disservice to the DTLA community by not sharing the truth. I hope this helps a fellow pet owner.

I went to South Park for the first time yesterday. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledgable. I did not realize that this was a doggie day care that also offered grooming services. Simba, my five month old maltese, had never had a professional grooming before. The groomer was wonderful and gave him special attentoon. I didn’t even have to leave him. He was ready in 45 minutes. I will definitely come back. The place was clean and they walk their clients four time daily. I will keep them in mind for weekend lodging if I need to go out of town. Great service!

I wanted to pay back the favor, fellow Unilocalers for helping me find this gem of a place! I’ve been taking my little beloved baby here for about 3 months (5-​days a week, M-​F) and I can honestly say I don’t ever need to think twice about the care he is receiving. I can comfortably go about my work day knowing he is being cared for, treated well, fed and loved, and if I ever miss him I can just watch him on my phone!
The entire team at South Park is phenomenal, every single experience is positive and the whole team is just incredible. They REALLY care about your pet. Every time I see the owner I keep telling him how lucky he is to have such an incredible team but I guess we’re the lucky ones given they’re taking care of our babies. Shout outs to Liz M, Liz C, Rodney and Carlos. Special shout out to Christina because I’m so touched by how much she cares for my dog. I know I missed some people but high five to you guys too — everyone is just so incredible!
So thank you — for taking care of my baby and for giving me the peace of mind that he is in loving and caring hands.
This is the 4^th place I’ve taken my dog to find a facility that was up to my standards of care and they’ve really exceeded them!

I’ve been taking my two dogs, Murray and Riff, to South Park Doggie for about a month. Both are small dogs (~10lb), in general Murray is shy whereas Riff wants to play with anything that moves. The things I am looking at in dog daycares are: knowledgeable staff (can read dog’s body language), clean, reasonably priced, and that my dogs are *happy* to go there.
Murray has been going to the occasional dog daycare for much of the 4.5 years we have had him. I can tell if he likes a place, because he races to go in. If he doesn’t, then he becomes statuesque near the door. Murray has been racing to get into South Park Doggie since he started going here. Riff, who’s just shy of a year, is newer to the daycare scene, but is also enthusiastic to attend.
The staff has all been nice, it smells pretty decent for a dog daycare (I know that’s a weird comment, but there are many places that smell nasty), they show you where the dogs are, and there’s an appropriate amount of dogs. It’s right in DTLA, so there’s not a parking lot, but I have (so far) had no problem parking on Grand or on the small street behind South Park Doggie.

Very disappointed with this business.
We needed to board our pup for 9 days over this past Christmas vacation. We brought him in for the evaluation day, as is required. At the end of which South Park provides a «report card» of how your dog did, ours received a «B» with marks of higher energy. He’s is an 8 month old French Bulldog who has recently been neutered so he is very much still a puppy. The fact that they didn’t say that his energy level was excessive or that he could be too active for the big dog play area made us believe that he would have a fun vacation and be able to play with the other dogs.
The first few days while viewing South Park’s webcam we would see him playing in the big dog pen. Some dogs would try to hump him and he would try to hump others. Again, he’s a pretty tiny Frenchie in the big dog area, so I was initially concerned when a larger dog would pin him down. However, the larger dogs did not appear to be aggressive, so I let it pass as dogs just being dogs. During these first few days, when he wasn’t in the big dog area I would rotate the camera to try and locate him.
In case anyone experiences what we did, this is how we located our dog.
Using the «Small Dog Area» webcam, I noticed that when I rotated the camera up and to the right, there is a hallway where you will see a collection of stacked crates where I was able to spot my dog.
Days passed and I still noticed my Frenchie was not in any of the play areas.
I began to rotate the «Big Dog Area» webcam. If you continue to rotate the camera to the left you will eventually be looking at where the employees have a food prep area (180 degrees from the big dog area). Within this space is a crate that is divided into two sections. There, within one of the sections, was our pup. Since my trust was starting to waiver on how our dog was doing, I started keeping my laptop open for hours monitoring what happened.
While watching him, it didn’t appear that he was eating but rather in a time out. A couple hours passed and he was still in the crate just watching the employees passing by. The webcam does not provide audio so I was unable to hear if he was crying, but from his body language and my experience with him, he was calmly sitting in the crate. The only time I saw him leave was for 5 minute increments which I assume were for bathroom breaks. I called South Park to have them tell me that he was being dominant and humping «a few» of the larger dogs and that they put him in the crate to calm him down. They stated that since they were boarding over a hundred dogs, they were unable to allow his behavior.
I can completely understand wanting to avoid the risk and liability of a dog fight. But I do not understand why if my dog, as I was told, was having social issues with only a few specific canines, why it was not possible to have said dogs rest in a crate for an hour or two so that my dog was able to stretch his legs and not be confined to a kennel for such long periods of time. That is NOT what I paid for. I paid for socialization for my dog, not storage.
Furthermore, if there were too many dogs in the facility for proper supervision to be given, you would think that a business would rather accept fewer clients in order to provide the customer experience that is to be expected. I would have even appreciated an offer to upgrade him to a private room. I would have paid it! My dog’s comfort is our primary concern.
His time in this back area continued on for 2 more days until I was able to pick him up. At which time the employee at the counter said that he did great and had a lot of energy, no mention of dominance or aggression. They stated they did not recall him ever being in the back area longer then it took him to calm down, and that he played within the big dog area as long as he behaved himself. This was contrary to what I saw on the webcam they provided. As I was leaving, the South Park staff member said that if I left positive review on Unilocal that I would receive a discount on my next visit.
As is typical with dogs after they are boarded, he slept the rest of the day and was very groggy. What I didn’t expect was to find diarrhea in his bed the next morning. He has never had issues with defecating in his crate, even when we first brought him home at 4 months. Why this was not brought to my attention is beyond me. It would have been helpful and appreciated.
This was our personal experience with South Park. We will not be utilizing their services again or recommend them to friends.
