Stark Waxing Studio

So far I have been twice for my eyebrows and BEYOND satisfied! Both times were with Heidi and she’s fantastic. Since moving back to LA area, I have had trouble finding someone because I am extremely picky when it comes to brows and have had a people either over pluck or not shape enough (my eyebrows are thick and naturally arched so if overdone it’s not a cute situation) –she did them perfectly. Scheduling was easy and front desk is super friendly. Will definitely be back.

My usual waxing place was all booked up prior to Valentine’s Day so called and managed to get a last minute appointment during my lunch hour, which was great. The Brazilian wax itself was decent, nothing special, but then at the end of my service when I went to pay I was quoted one price, but charged much more that what was on my receipt. They eventually refunded the money when I called back – apparently there was another client with the same name there that had done a cheaper service and they confused us, but in my opinion the services here are overpriced to begin with and being overcharged left a bad taste in my mouth. Won’t be coming back here.

Isabel is amazing. My legs are perfect! Fast, friendly, great clean up job and no hair stragglers! Highly recommended. Thank you Isabel.

This review is for Alex, specifically– she is THE BEST BEST BEST! I’ve tried many of the other aestheticians and she is the best, especially for brows. Some of the other aestheticians make me feel rushed, and honestly, if I want to feel rushed I’ll get waxed at the nail salon. Alex makes me feel like a pampered celebrity. She is amazing at brown shaping, and does a thorough, detailed job. LOVE her.

I love Heidi at Stark!!! She is so meticulous in her work and easy to be around all at the same time. Warning: the prices here are expensive. Definitely ask how much everything will be on the phone so you don’t get surprised at the counter.

The waxer I had perhaps didn’t have the most experience with hard wax, because she would leave it on too long and then have to do that awful flicking that is painful. I generally don’t mind bikini waxes, but this was by far the most painful. I also bled like crazy, which has NEVER happened. Afterwards, I had bruising and the hair grew back in uneven patches. Very expensive for not great results. There are better wax studios in the area.

I loved this place! The people are very friendly and the place was very clean! I felt very comfortable and the quality of the wax is great!

Love it here, but no one’s answering the phone and Unilocal says they’re closed after their usual 10 AM opening time.

If you a plus size girl or a trans woman do not go here. They are horrible they made me and my friend feel sub human.
Just because im plus size does not mean i should be charged $ 40 more than a thin woman.
Also i went with my trans girl friend and they
Used the wrong pronoun with her and were very rude and made her cry.
Im never going back there horrible.

The last two times I’ve gone I’ve ended up with extremely crooked lines. I usually do the martini glass and it looked more like half martini half runway. I’ve since gone elsewhere. Love the atmosphere and cleanliness of this spot but make sure you find someone that works for you and don’t risk trying just anyone that works there.

Stark always does it right. Each time I go I have a virtually painless experience. The ladies work fast but at the same time I never feel rushed. The studio is super clean and fresh with a cute store full of cards, books, candles, jewelry etc to skim over if you have a little wait. Each person who works here is bright, cheerful, and holds a very nice conversation — which I always think helps lessen any tension I have going into a wax. I’ve been going here a year and have only had 5 star experiences. Seriously check them out.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy my experience I just had at Stark Silverlake. I was very excited for my Brazilian appointment at Stark as it is supposed to be «the best Brazilian in LA»… The wax itself was still very painful for hard wax, obviously a Brazilian will not be completely painless BUT I’ve had a Brazilian at E.W.C that was MUCH less painful then mine at Stark Silverlake.
My esthetician was sweet, but she did not press down on my skin after ripping off the wax to help minimize pain (huge difference when done, and most waxing studios do this). It felt extremely rushed, it’s seems as though Stark is more concerned with getting as many clients in and then out the door, rather than personalizing each client’s experience.
My biggest complaint to make about Stark was the utter lack of customer service. It makes such a wonderful difference when the person up front greets you and welcomes you in. The woman up front today could not crack a smile for the life if her, and said not a word to me as I entered Stark. I said hello to her twice and she still did not reply to me. I had to let her know «hi, hello? I have an appointment»…after my wax I was rushed out by only being asked for my credit card, no questions about how my experience/​wax went etc. the girls up front were discussing inventory loudly and literally did not acknowledge me again until they asked if I needed a copy of my receipt. No thank you was given to me either.
I was hoping to have a personalized, pleasant experience leaving feeling like I found a gem, but overall I felt rushed out and unappreciated as a client, will not be going back to Stark Silverlake :(Receptionist was the worst.

I visited Stark Waxing Studio yesterday for the first time and when I got home to inspect the job, I was speechless because I just paid $ 58 to have be silky smooth with a chia pet in the back. The receptionist gave a convoluded and extremely confusing explanation that «bikini plus» means that you take away either a little bit of the front or a little bit of the back. I explained that my entire front was left intact– no stripper landing strip for me — the hair underneath was removed – Except for a copious amount of hair on my butt. I’m embarrassed to admit I could probably make a tiny man bun out of it. That’s how much there is.
So, Pre-​Stark, I had hair everywhere. And now. I have paid almost 60 bucks to draw attention to the fact that I have a hairy butt. Thank you. I guess Bikini «plus» means they add a merkin in.

Michelle is wonderful! I’ve been twice and will be making my third appointment with her soon. She is very friendly and makes what could be an awkward experience not even a little awkward. Totally professional, but entirely friendly. She’s lovely and I would highly recommend her for someone going for a first time wax! I definitely think the price (plus tip) is fair for the product and outcome!
I live close by, so I walk because parking anywhere in Silverlake can be a struggle.
The whole place is clean (SO important) and they have the coolest little variety of gifts or products you can buy. It’s a little awkward the first time you go and you can hear everyone around you talking because the rooms share a ceiling — but once you get over that the atmosphere it perfect in my opinion.
Overall its a nice place to go to for the service you’re getting. Its welcoming and Michelle is wonderful!

My first visit here was many years ago, and was great — I’ve been a regular ever since! The space was very clean and hygienic. And calming. Which is important.
Parking in Silver Lake is parking in Silver Lake. I specifically made my appointment for 10am on a weekend to avoid having to troll the street for a space, and found a non-​metered one very close. I haven’t tried any other places, so I can’t make any comparisons, but I was pleased with the results! I’ve been able to make same-​day appointments, and the receptionists are always lovely. All of the aestheticians have been wonderful.
Bonus points for proximity to Lark, I reward myself with a caramel cupcake every time I go!

Few places can get messy men’s nose hair waxed like Stark. Sarah is who you want (Isabelle was kind enough to correct me, she did awesome too!) $ 15. Usually able to book apt within next few hours.
Really a 4.5÷5. Service depends on the esthetician.

Stark will be my GO-​TO wax place. It’s a bit pricey but worth every penny! I just finished my Brazilian wax with Lydia and I highly recommend her. I’ve had my share of waxes before but Lydia gave me the best experience. She only works Friday and Sunday. It’s best to schedule an appointment Sunday since you don’t have to fight for parking that much and traffic shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Lydia was very thorough. She’s been doing this for over 9 years and still cares about every customer. I am very satisfied with the outcome!

My eyebrows are an unholy mess. Some stick straight out, and those are the ones that even with the tightest squeeze of the best tweezers won’t budge from my face. It takes a delicate and careful hand to shape these wooly-​worms. I have this terrible scar on one brow that causes what little brow hair there is to just jut out wildly; and one wrong tweez makes the brow abruptly end about an inch too soon.
And, since I’ve been going to Stark since I moved to LA, it’s hard for me to go anywhere else. And, Isabella has been mostly the one to take charge of my brows — she really took the time to listen to what my concerns were.
Even though my brows are not going to win any beauty contests, I can now at least trust them to not embarrass me in front of my friends.

Went here on the high recommendation of a friend for my very first wax ever. I decided to go full Brazilian and I’m happy I did it at Stark. They use a hard wax for the bikini area, which is good, and my girl used a new stick for every application (thank the lord). It was very quick and I’d imagine, as painless as such a painful procedure can be. I do have to dock points since parking was nearly impossible (on Sundays there’s some kind of public event that sucks up the spots), the price point is high and even though I had a noon appointment I didn’t end up getting called in for about 10 minutes. I would recommend talking to your girl to make sure you’re on the same page (I should’ve requested more cleanup). I could see myself coming back here, since it’s clean and got the job done, but I may be eating ramen for the next couple weeks after.

I forwent my usual stint at the local shitty hair place/​waxing stop off that I usually subject myself to — because apparently I don’t deserve better, and I went to Stark. Painfully hip and in the heart of Silverlake, I figured I’d upgrade my brows since I’ve had bangs for the past five years and ignored the bushes above my eyes.
Upon growing them out, I called in to see if I could walk in on a Sunday. No worries.
Waited no longer than 5 minutes, went into the back room and had a lovely chat with the lady who would weedwack my brows. So nice. So helpful. Educated me about my shape and painlessly led me to the right direction of how I should continue to shape my brows.
I can’t say enough nice things. To top it off, $ 25. That’s not much more than I would have paid anywhere else and for worse treatment. High five to you Stark, I’ll be back!
