Used to go here all the time when they opened last year & haven’t been here for months. Shima, the best sushi chef is no longer there. Variety of items had a raise in price & the customer service is horrible(minus the regular servers who worked there when they opened. aka one server). Sad to say this place disappointed me whereas before it was my favorite sushi place. The servers forgot 3 of my original orders. I tell her & she«puts it in the computer» & to my surprise she forgot to place the order, AGAIN. So she finally places it after waiting 20minutes and my food comes out and it wasn’t what I ordered. I then call another server & complain that the food brought out wasn’t what I ordered & he responded pretty much saying«yes it is» until I showed him the picture of what it is on the menu & that shut him up good. Overall, this place went downhill. The sawetlle location is much better & probably worth the drive out of the valley. Sorry Encino SushiStop, I can no longer rant about how amazing you guys were.

Sad to hear it’s no longer Sushi Stop any more. Was my go to sushi place, having great sushi at a great price. Food was great, service was okay, but overall was a great place to grab a bite. Now, it’s the Dancing Wasabi, which is pretty bad. Their food was okay. Smaller portions, not made the same as the menu’s photos(got a roll with spicy mayo and they used wasabi). Was not impressed. All in all, was nice going there the many times I did. It will be missed. — — — — — — Portion specific to one review I read which I feel needs to be addressed — — — — People who complain about people saying it’s good«for the price»(Helen T. complains), get over it. It’s good food and if you compare food based on price, you’re the one being fooled. Don’t say people have«immature taste» and say the people who go there are teenagers. Judging by your check ins, you have no taste in food. Genuine Mexican food? Go to Mexico, don’t take your stuck up Sherman Oaks self somewhere thinking you know it all. is your site, and you want people to take your reviews seriously? You want to go and say teenagers are leaving good reviews and you are an adult who knows good food from bad? Grow up. Just go back to your #leetblawg and stay there until you’re a decent human being who doesn’t think so much of themselves. Bye Sushi Stop

I passed by SushiStop and decided to try it on a whim. I’m so, so glad I did! The food and service really blew away my expectations. Almost everything on the menu is $ 2.75, including the rolls, which come with about 4 pieces. The lighter portions really allowed me to try a wide variety of dishes at a low prices. After ordering, I was shocked at the low prices, but was pleasantly surprised by the food itself. We ordered about 6 rolls, all of which were delicious. We also tried the spicy tuna on crispy rice, which was pretty good, although I think they could have used a little less soy sauce. The food came very, very quickly, the service was prompt and friendly, and I had a great experience overall. Will definitely be back~

I’m devastated to hear tonight that this spot is under new management :(apparently they will be changing. I’m giving 5 stars for the amazing place this has been for the past 2 years. Bravo! I’m sad to know this was our last meal here…

I feel fooled by all the previous reviews and four star rating. Now I think the reviewers are mainly comprised of teenagers and those with immature taste buds. Enough with this«for the price» talk! You end up spending the same per person amount that you would anywhere else because the portions are so small here. It’s not like they’re giving you a $ 10 roll for $ 2.75. You get a $ 2.75 portion of the $ 10 roll only it doesn’t taste anything close to what a $ 10 roll would taste like. Sad to say, but this was some of the worst tasting sushi I’ve ever had. It reminded me of the sushi place in Westwood that I reviewed– if not worse. We ordered: Baked salmon roll Dynamite roll Habanero roll Crab and mozzarella tempura Tempura udon Teriyaki chicken bowl Tuna tartar Albacore and crispy onion roll And one other roll that I already forgot of luckily The«tuna» was very strange. It tasted odd and was too light in color as if something else is added to the mixture to stretch out their tuna supply. All of the baked rolls simply tasted like warm mayo sauce with nothing else. Way too strong of a mayo taste in each bite. Might as well call them spicy mayo rolls on rice. The«crab» and mozzarella tempura roll was probably the worst item we tried. I literally saw one scrap of crab in it within all 4 pieces. One tiny speck! I noticed this because 1) it did not taste like crab and 2) when I opened up each piece to scrape out the insane amounts of excess mozzarella, I saw that most pieces had zero crab in them and one piece had literally a speck. I know it’s hard to expect crab at $ 2.75 but then don’t say there is crab in it! Call it a mozzarella stick or charge more for actual crab! The udon was okay. Broth tasted okay and texture of the noddles was okay. The tempura started to become extremely soggy after a couple minutes and dissolve in the soup or float around. One of the waitresses was in velour pants and furry style boots, all covered in lint and very loose. This just looked way too unprofessional for a restaurant setting. I know it’s not a Michelin rated restaurant but you should still look presentable when working with others, especially around food. Parking was also strange but at least free. The parking lot was one of the strangest shaped parking lots but that’s not Sushi stops’ fault. And again, at least free. Overall, a pretty bad experience and I don’t think I’ll be returning here ever again. The per plate price does not justify any of the poor tasting items and low quality fish. And like I said before, you end up spending around the same per person price that you would at other decent sushi or ramen places. Chicanery with their prices and pictures.

There’s a catch-22 about sushi; you eat a lot and it’s great… Until you get the bill, then you feel sick because you just spent a car payment on something you’ll digest very quickly. And here comes Sushi Stop to save your wallet! This has become my go to spot for sushi. When I want sushi, even though there’s higher quality, more elaborate sushi spots all around me, I’d rather come here. Why? I get full after twelve bucks! For that price and this quality, it’s amazing. Before we get into the food, a few important things… They have their own parking lot which is a huge plus in that neighborhood! The wait time to be seated is not so bad during the week, unless you go during peak hours(noon and about eight p.m.)– especially on Friday-Sunday. Sometimes the wait staff forgets to fill up your drinks and the chefs can be a bit touchy when you remind them(for the fourth time) that you still haven’t gotten a roll, but it’s never been all that unpleasant. Seating! It’s a cool setup with great music; I constantly find myself thinking, ‘This song is catchy!’ There isn’t much space for huge parties. Heck, I’ve gone with a group of about ten and we barely fit on one side of their square setup. Nomnomom food! Everything is basically a California roll with extra toppings on it, which sucks if you want anything else. Everything still tastes great! Their best rolls are the baked salmon roll and the dynamite roll. Fantastic! Their mini bowls are delicious! The best thing about this place is that you can eat try a lot of different things because the portions are so small and so cheap(about $ 2.75). The desserts are even very tasty! I never leave without having tempura ice cream! Overall, I love this place and would rather eat here than pay a small fortune to eat somewhere else.

Wonderful service, delicious sushi and at an affordable price! This is my new go-to sushi spot. Stuffed Jalapeño– I’m a spice lover and this definitely satisfied my cravings Las Vegas Roll– appears different than the other LV rolls I’ve had in the past but still delicious Eel roll. I’m a sucker for eel! It tasted fresh, flavorful and extremely appealing to the eye On top of the great food– their servers were delightful. Katherine and Josh(?) were extremely friendly and checked on my table every so often. I will definitely return in the near future :)

This is the largest Sushi Stop I’ve been too and it was also the least crowded. I guess people in the valley aren’t a big fan of this fine chain. Stars off because while the food was solid, it was different from my experiences at the Sawtelle locations. Even though the place was hardly full, we barely received any service. We had to ask for water twice in order to get it. The ambiance is also not the same. At sawtelle, it’s a busy and a great ambiance to be in. But, at this location it’s quiet and awkward, you could barely hear the music, if there was any playing. This made it kind of uncomfortable. Solid food, poor ambience.

Fish is fresh. Not so bad for a heap sushi joint. But when you throw signs up that say 2.75 for all items and the only thing that’s 2.75 is salmon… You get my point. When they first opened everything was 2.75. But I guess rent ain’t cheap on Ventura. Sushi does come out quick.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars because that would be more accurate… My bf and I heard good things about Sushi Stop, mostly that it was super cheap. We drove out to try it and got lucky with a spot on the street really close by. However, when we were walking in we passed the sign that pointed to the FREE underground parking area –___– dang it. Don’t miss this! Make sure you park here so you don’t have to pay the meter. There weren’t that many people when we went around 1PM so that was nice. We sat down and had a look at the menu and I was surprised at all the options! We had the tuna, salmon and hamachi nigiri as well as the cucumber roll, spicy tuna roll, and salmon with crunchy potato roll. I did NOT like the nigiri at all, it tasted quite fishy and didn’t have a fresh consistency to it… I was kind of put off and worried about the quality, but the spicy tuna was good and I really liked the salmon with the crunchy potato, the fish was much fresher. I also ordered the cucumber salad which was bomb and the small tempura rice bowl which was awesome! It was only $ 2.75 too! They give you a lot of rice topped with tempura shrimp, pumpkin, carrot and zucchini so it’s a great deal. The stated price is $ 2.75 per plate but be careful because some items are more, like the nigiri tuna which was around $ 4 I think? Kinda lame that you might order some rolls that are more expensive so be aware of the prices!

Happy hour mini pitcher Kirin draft beer $ 4 very good. I very like the place, during the day not a lot of people. Service is good, not to mention that they may an error and charge is for extra pitcher of beer. As soon as I show that to waiter bill has been adjusted right a way. I will recommend this place to all of my friends and family members.

Basically, you come to Sushi Stop if you want -*good*-(decent-good) sushi for CHEAP. It’s not great, nothing mind blowing or super inventive. It does gets you full for a lot less than other places and will satisfy sushi cravings. $ 2.75 per roll or item, such as udon or fried tofu… but the portions are small-ish. They also have higher priced items like my favorite: Yellowtail Handroll with Truffle oil($ 4 and some change). Mmm, it’s so good. Please stay away from the Blue Crab handroll, it tastes like dirty ocean water mixed with fishy-ass-paste. Ha. It’s the only item I’ve ever asked to be taken off my bill there and I’m not super picky. The service has always been good and pretty fast since it’s sushi bar seating + servers assisting too. I like the sushi chefs at this location, always entertaining. So don’t come in expecting the best but definitely give it a shot, Oh and try the Las Vegas Roll if you like Spicy Tuna. It has a fried lotus root chip on top which makes it look a little fancy! :P

How many times have I checked into this place in the last 2 months, ummmmm lets see oh ya… A LOT. I love this place. why you ask. #1 the servers are beyond friendly, SUPER nice, NEVER rude #2 the sushi is super yummy, #3 the sushi is FRESH. one time i was there I accidentally saw one of the sushi hold up a fish, like full on fish. #4 the sushi chefs are extremely nice, especially Masa and Marco #5 Sake and beer are super reasonable #6 oh ya the most important EVERYTHINGISBASICALLY $ 2.75 the sashimi plates are $ 5.50 I don’t like the rolls that are made with california rolls, because I don’t like california rolls period. They also have udon and curry… Yummy also I come here all the time and will continue to come here and bring more friends to try it. Everyone I’ve brought so far loves it. It’s reasonable, tasty and chill. Its not like one of those you get what you pay for places, its actually worth it.

Not the most craze amaze sushi you will have in your life but with mostly everything for 2.75 you can’t really complain. You get what you pay for here. It tastes good. I think the favorite thing I had was the dynamite roll. I wish the vegas roll was better. I remember having it at their location in LA and it was pretty bomb, but at this location it was pass-ible. They have great happy hour offerings monday through thursday all day! 1.50 for a glass or 4 for a pitcher of kirkin beer. Service was kind of slow but it was pretty packed. I wish they were more attentive and we didn’t have just one waiter. We kind of just had to flag down who was ever around. Free parking in the structure below. Good for a quick cheap bite.

Tragic. This used to be one of our favorite cheap sushi establishments but during our recent visit the size and quality of their sushi have declined. Still good: Curry chicken udon

I would give them 7 stars. They really impressed me. let me tell you that takes a lot to do that. The fish is super fresh. portions fair. Everything is 2.75. The spicy tuna and ramen soups are out of control. I never get sushi to go. but since they are super packed everyday for dinner. why not. I was really impressed with the girl over the phone. she was nice. knew english. and made sure the order is 110% correct. Also the spicy mayo was fresh made and not weeks old . Great Place for any budget.

Great Sushi spot if your looking for quick & fresh sushi. Sometimes it takes them a while to acknowledge you if you sit down without them seeing you, so make sure to grab their attention on the way to your seat. You also have to track a waitress down for water refills pretty often. The price is descent but it can add up quickly it you don’t pay attention to what your ordering lol. All in all, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for some good sushi! OOOO 4 out of 5 Afros
