The best sockeye salmon sashimi with truffle oil I have ever had. Melts in your mouth. Warm blue crab hand roll in sesame soy paper. This place is a gem. Definitely will be back.

Not worth $ 2.95 per plate. HORRIBLESERVICE and not enough food. I’d rather pay more and get good service. Never again.

Again not busy at 3.25pm and they seat me, then no water, no menu for 10-minutes. Then they seat two people next to me and give them a menu and water, etc. Again I leave. Go anyplace but here!

Listen. I get that you guys are busy. I really do. I order takeout from here all the time. But today, it became very clear that they need to hire a person just to deal with pick up orders and phone calls. They hardly EVER answer the phone. Even as I’m standing in here right now, 45MINUTESAFTER I PLACEDMYTAKEOUTORDERON Unilocal(!!!), they just let the phone ring and ring and ring. When I came in 20 minutes ago to pick up, they said ten more minutes. Fine. But that has long passed and I’m still standing here, mostly ignored unless I make my presence(and hangry demeanor) openly known. The sushi is tasty and cheap. That’s the only reason I’m giving three stars. Today’s disaster is enough to make me never order from here again. And now 50 minutes… Still NO. FOOD. Guess I’ll be late getting back to work.

Burned salmon skin salad, all over 80% of the salad. But it’s a great, quick, cheap please to get sushi.

Get in my belly! But no, seriously Sushi Stop has some pretty good made-to-order sushi for college students on a budget. Located in Little Osaka on Sawtelle boulevard, Sushi Stop has three locations about few minutes walking distance from each other. The sushi are prices around $ 2.95 for each dish, while some cost $ 4 for certain sashimi and hot dishes. I recommend ordering their rolls or sashimi over anything else on the menu. Most seatings are around the sushi bar. I would say there best dishes are the baked salmon roll, dynamite roll, and Unagi roll. The dynamite sauce here is pretty on par. But other rolls were only okay at best. Important to remember is that this place is CASHONLY. Luckily they have an atm inside of you need to withdraw. Service can be quite slow here, given they have so many people working there at a time. It took them almost ten minutes to bring out one dish. And pieces are pretty small. This place can get pretty at night for dinner if you go around 7-ish. The Sushi Stop I went is part of a larger plaza which has a parking structure adjacent to it. So no need to look for parking in the residential areas. I recommend it for college students who are looking for cheap sushi place.

Great quality fish with a japanese sushi chef. Looks like they have special fish on the regular. The night we were there they had toro — fatty tuna. We couldn’t have been more excited and pleased with how fresh it was. The menu is a typical izakaya — bar-type menu — with the usual edamame and karaage(japanese fried chicken). All yum. We have found our new fave to fill our sushi cravings!

The fact that they are cash only and dont have a HUGESIGN for being the only business in LA that wont take a card is not cool. Food is ok. Lured me in with 3.00 rolls bit it cost me another 3 for the atm… not cool. Also service was very slow… i gave an extra star because i am a busness owner and i know how Unilocal reviews effect business but i would have given 3 or 2 otherwise

I have been here a few times, and would have rated this with more stars back then BUT not this time. YES the sushi is good, maybe even great BUT the bad def out weighs the good. Strike 1 — they only take cash? Strike 2 — the SLOWEST service, like WHOA. Strike 3 — they have a B rating. They really only deserve 1 star but I’m adding another star with the hopes that some improvement happens! Go to the Hollywood location. UPDATE: down to 1 star. We never received a roll and the server didn’t put in the order for gyoza. Also took like 10 minutes just to get an adjusted check. If that whole experience could have never happened my life would be significantly better.

Nothing fancy, but fast, cheap, and close to UCLA! This is definitely not a place I would go out of my way to seek out, but it is very conveniently located at Sawtelle, which is close to Westwood and perfect for UCLA students. Whenever my friends and I crave sushi, we always come here because it’s one of the few cheap($ 2.95 per plate) sushi spots in the area. Plus it’s right next to the parking structure which is free! I normally get the basic rolls which are a great bang for your buck. 8 pieces for $ 2.95! I love the salmon roll. The fancier rolls are 4 pieces for the same price. They used to offer free miso soup with check in but not anymore :( Seating is mostly bar style, with very few tables. Not a place for groups, but perfect for 2 – 3 people! Don’t expect some gourmet sushi when you come here. It’s a very basic sushi spot to fulfill your sushi cravings. Only downside is that it’s cash only.

If you’re on a budget & have some major sushi cravings, this is the place to go! Everything is $ 2.95(unless otherwise specified). Keep in mind it’s CASHONLY! They probably do this so they can keep their prices low. The waiters and sushi chefs there are very nice but sometimes the service is lackin’. It took us forever just to get our check but it’s probably because it started getting busy around 7pm. Come early or you’ll have to wait!

Ew. What happened to this place? SushiStop used to be cool. Years ago, it was known as the spot that blasted good hip-hop music, where all the chefs were super young and the plates were cheap as hell. It was fun & casual. Flash-forward to today, and there’s no trace of SushiStop of the past. Food quality is terrible, the place is mostly dead, and the cool music is long gone — they were blasting Coldplay on my recent visit… who blasts Coldplay? Plates are now $ 2.95, which is approaching normal prices. Either way, don’t save your money this way — it’s all bad.

I have been coming here weekly for a few years now and I have never experienced such bad service. The servers have the largest attitudes and extremely rude seems as if they hate their jobs. No one checked on us to see if everything was ok had they have done that they world have known we did not receive some of the rolls we ordered. I had to basically jump in front of them for some water and my bill. When I went to get cash out of the ATM next door I told the very sweet young lady what happen and I asked if there was a manager and of course there was not. You need to have proper management or experienced staff who is fully capable to handle these situations. It was terrible.

Good prices for cheap sushi/japanese food. You could definitely get full off a couple plates! Some of the plates(ie. ramen, seaweed salad, etc) were a lot bigger than I expected. If I was a college student/on a hardcore budget, I wouldn’t mind coming here time to time. Other than that, I wouldn’t drive all the way for SushiStop. What I ordered: Chasu Ramen– broth wasn’t that flavorful and the meat was kind of hard. Noodles were good tho! For $ 3, I thought it was worth it! Seaweed Salad — good for sharing + yummy! Cucumber Salad– This was alright. I preferred the seaweed salad more.

I’m surprised I never wrote a review for my absolute favorite sushi place in LA. Cheap($ 2.95, my first time here it was $ 2.25!) Special Sashimi Plates($ 6) I’ve tried the majority of their menu and you really can’t go wrong.(Ok you can with some, but you can’t beat these prices!!) This spot is my go to because of the parking structure next door. Otherwise you’d have to find parking which can be a struggle on Sawtelle. Special sashimi dishes are always bomb and so far the cheapest deal I can find! Peppered albacore– topped with avocado YUM Seared peppered tuna Salmon truffle oil Spicy albacore tartare– must try! I recommend getting one basic roll or one bowl to get a little full without having to spend too much.

Whose bright idea was it to put 2 SushiStop’s and 1 SushiStop Izakaya all on Sawtelle within walking distance? At least spread it out a little or combine it into one flagship restaurant. Pro’s: –Sushi chefs and waiters are hilarious. They definitely eavesdropped on our lame conversations in a non-intrusive way and provided funny commentary. –Great bang for your buck. For $ 10 – 15 you can feel incredibly full off decent quality sushi. –Significantly and consistently less of a wait than the other location. –My faves are probably the dynamite roll and stuffed jalapeños. Con’s: –Less busy than the other SushiStop, which can also be seen as a pro. I see it as a con because I presume the other location is busier for a reason. –Obviously not THE best sushi ever. It’s a quick pitstop for good value sushi. –Cash only. Always a con in my book.

You can’t beat this price for the quality of sushi that they serve here. Sushi Stop is so popular that they had to open three of them on Sawtelle! I never even knew that they had three, until I stumbled upon the two by the free parking structure. At this one, the inside is very cramped with bar seating and table seating, but that’s just so they can serve more people! I ordered my usual salmon avocado roll, a special roll that looked kind of like salsa on top, and a chicken curry rice. I also checked in on Unilocal for a free miso soup. The food always arrives really quickly. However, they forgot about my miso soup until I had to ask them after all my food had arrived. They also charged me for it at the end, and I had to explain that I used the Unilocal check-in. That was a little annoying. I also probably wouldn’t pay $ 1.60 for that miso soup. For the taste, the salmon in my salmon roll had a weird texture. Something seemed a little off. I also didn’t particularly like the taste of my special roll. It seemed like they were just mashing everything together, with the guacamole and the tuna on top and the California roll on the bottom. The only thing that tasted fine was the curry. I believe that what distinguishes this sushi stop is that they have different bowls than the other one. I’m not too sure if anything else is different, but maybe I just haven’t picked up on it. I’m usually a fan of Sushi Stop, but my experience at this particular one wasn’t up to par.

Solid sushi spot on Sawtelle. Parking is plentiful in the garage that the restaurant is located next to/in. So no real worries there. The interior is nothing too fancy or extravagant. Very simple. Seating is essentially all at the counter, with one lone table near the entrance for four people. So clearly groups are not a great idea here. There is a menu outside the restaurant with pictures to help you decide what you want to order when you finally do get a seat. Wait time wasn’t too bad even tho they were busy(about 10 – 15 min for a group of four with a visible line outside). The service was ok. If you get seated in the corners of the restaurant, you might not get as great of service as people located near the entrance. Felt like I had to raise my hand a lot for service. The food overall is good. It came out quickly, and is kind of what you would expect. Of all the dishes we had, I would say the best was the Crunchy Rice. The chicken udon was also good, but the chicken did have bones in it(not sure if that’s always the case). So chew carefully if you order this dish. Don’t want to break any teeth. Overall, solid sushi spot. It is cash only, so keep that in mind before you come.

Maybe my review is a bit biased, but I came here with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised by the portions, prices, and quality of offerings. This is a no frills chain(seriously, 3 in close proximity?!) that makes you contemplate how many other chains have copied the GameStop logo(looking at you, smashburger!). SushiStop puts the cheapest sushi places in San Diego to shame, that’s how good it is. Pricing is pretty standard: $ 2.95 for most items, $ 4 hand rolls, and $ 6 for sashimi(6 pieces) I ordered: — Chicken curry rice($ 2.95): huge portion. I had to double check the menu and bill because the price was a steal considering the curry had a nice spicy kick and plenty of pieces of chicken. Flavor is pretty good too, but not as good as curry house or even at the Japanese markets like Mistuwa — Jumbo Scallop nigiri($ 2.95): I was feeling adventurous, so I was pleasantly surprised! The sushi rice is standard, but went well will the scallop, which was nice and soft/buttery — Albacore nigiri($ 2.95): very fresh! No fishy taste whatsoever, and the cut was very good. I skipped on the rice, but would highly recommend this over the regular tuna nigiri. — Salmon handroll($ 2.95): with truffle oil. You can definitely smell the truffle oil, which complimented the salmon, but this was difficult to eat overall. The handroll fell apart easily, while the nori was pretty sticky/thick and hard to tear with each bite — Salmon skin salad($ 2.95): Crispy salmon skin and even small pieces of the salmon meat on fresh lettuce with ginger sesame dressing. Tasty and the skin wasn’t too fried, and the portion is enough to share Overall this is a solid place in west side, with lots of seating around the bar. I love the high ceilings and A/C was on pretty high despite the warmer weather outside. The chefs were Japanese, although our servers(wait staff) weren’t. Don’t come here for authentic traditional Japanese food, because you’ll be sorely disappointed. Instead, come hungry and leave without feeling like your wallet’s significantly lighter, because this place is CASHONLY. Cheers!

What? There’s a spot that sells sushi rolls for less than $ 3?! Where?! I’ve been coming here on and off for years. The past year, I noticed the prices went up from $ 2.75 to $ 2.95 on some of the rolls. That’s okay though, because the prices are still cheap and good enough quality for my sushi fix. There’s also new items on the menu costing no more than $ 6.
Spicy scallop roll and the Las Vegas roll are my favorites. I tried the truffle oil salmon sashimi and had high expectations but it didn’t taste that great. I haven’t been too happy with the service dining here the last few times. This last time, it was a full house and seats were opened up and the host called my name. I raised my hand and tried to make eye contact with the host and as I was walking up she seated some random couple that decided to take my spot. A bit rude but the hostess later apologized for the confusion. Also, there were four parties that got seated after my party and they got their food before us. Even though the four parties and ours essentially ordered the same things. There’s an ATM inside. There’s free parking in the structure or paid street parking.
