Tacos El Porvenir

I got the tacos de adobada and a carne asada burrito. The quality of the food was great/​fresh… Felt like home cooking. The hot sauce actually had a kick. They also gave a hefty amount of food.
The cons: the al pastor’s flavor was ok, but the meat itself was really dry. The rice in the asada burrito barely had any flavor. Didn’t mind the hot sauce in a bag, but other folks might. (Gets a bit messy).

I love this place so much that I’m almost scared to tell others about it! Ever since I discovered this neighborhood gem, I’ve been steadily making my way through the menu and sampling as many items as I can.
The burritos might be my favorite. For $ 5, you get a huge burrito that’s 100 times better than Chipotle or Baja. All of the ingredients are fresh and delicious. However, I’ve also enjoyed the breakfast burrito, quesadillas, the tortas and the hamburguesa. I mean, where else can you get a huge, juicy hamburger for only $ 2.50? It’s AMAZING. Seriously salivating just thinking about it. The quesadilla combo plate is enough for both lunch and dinner; the value you get here is amazing.
Friendly service with a smile and if you’re a non-​Spanish speaker like myself (trying to learn, I swear!), no worries. They will happily explain the menu items to you. Seems like a family-​owned business and they also take orders by phone. While you’re waiting for your food, pop into the convenience store next door and purchase a Mexican Coca-​Cola bottle to accompany your meal! BEST LUNCH EVER, I swear.

Sure the signs don’t match the actual name, just look for the window by the barbershop and laundry mat. Noneof these «quirky» details matter because the food here is bomb. I love their tortas al pastor! The bread is toasted nicely and the sandwich is loaded with avocado, grilled onions, cheese, raw onion, cilantro, tomato and lettuce. It is messy, but I love it! The tacos are delicious tambien. They will tell you what they have if you ask. The torta is $ 6. If you crave an A+ torta this is your place!
