Why hasn’t this place been reviewed on Unilocal?Oh yeah, b/​c I’ve been writing reviews on places that are away from the hood — what a sell out I am. So to keep things real, I’m gonna share with u one of my babies that never lets my beastly appetite down.
If you’re around the Mid City area/​Historic Adams District/​USC vicinity/​DE HPS 13 barrio (ok, that wasn’t necessary — lol), and if ur tight on the cash and need some good food, stop on over by this bad girl. You will not spend more than 5 bucks and u will leave with a bigger smile than the guy next to you who just pumped gas in his car for 40 cents cheaper than the competitors across the street. Did I mention that this place is located inside a gas station that looks abandoned? Well, sometimes you need to overcome the fear of the hood to get ur grub on.
Tacos are 1 dollar here. Where else can u get the best tacos in Mid City for a dollar? I would recommend the tacos al pastor — mmmm — so much flavor…*snif-snif* — u smell that? That’s some real sh*t. Horchatas are also a dollar, so make sure to drain all that good stuff with an horchata, or u can get a Coke with real sugar — straight from Mexico. You don’t want to get that fake corn syrup American Coke — naw dawg, keep it real! The old school long bottle sodas is where its at; Jarritos and Sangria are the other options in case ur not down with the coka.
And while u wait for ur tacos, get yourself one of those small bolsitas and fill them up with pepinos and salsa. Snack on them a bit while u fill up ur plastic containers with green/​red/​pico de gallo salsas. When ur order is ready, the server will ask u if u would like some fried onions on ur plate. Give the guy a big smile and tell him «si por favor» b/​c u don’t want to get ur change jacked.
A few times I came here at 1am and the guy taking orders tried to be sneaky and not give me my change back. I was drunk homie, but not that much to forget my 3 dollars. =P
