Walked in here at about 9:00PM on a Tuesday night and it was dead! For how big and central of a location this is, I thought it would be somewhat busy. We were heading out for the night out on the town and decided we needed a drink and some grub before we started our night. We sat at the counter and ordered a beer — which by the way, you won’t find beer this cheap in price in this city! A Stone IPA was only $ 5 – 6(and I’ve heard their happy hour prices are out of this world cheap). For food we got: //Nachos — hefty in size, with lots of toppings. not my favorite, but still good. //Jalapeño Poppers — woooot, yummmmy! cream cheese filled goodness. //Chorizo Tacos — 2 for $ 2. Nothing fancy, just a warmed up corn tortillas with some sauteed chorizo. Something I could make at home, but a great price! //Total Bill? Under $ 30 — WIN. The experience was very«meh». The bartender was cool but everyone else looked miserable. She was very attentive, but granted there was only about 10 people the entire hour we were here. I think this place has a lot of potential and is a cute place — I would like to come back for their happy hour — something about $ 2.50 beers sounds kick ass to me. Located on Ivar & Hollywood Blvd(caddy corner from Beso). If you’re in the area and looking for a «bar» setting with decent food, and great prices — check this place out.

This place looked cool from the outside and when we walked in… but we never got served. We sat right in front of the bar tender for about 15 minutes… and nothing. So we left. Bummer.

I will I could give 3.5 stars as I must admit all I had here was a drink. It was Friday night and my boyfriend and I who live in DTLA were in hollywood having dinner afterwards we decided to walk around and grab a drink. After walking around a bit we decided upon Tavern on Hollywood as it wasn’t super busy and there were plenty of seats at the bar. The service was fast and the drink was good — all in all no complaints. It looked like they have pretty nice happy hour deals as well and a mimosa special on the weekends in the morning with pretty nice prices.

Great bar in Hollywood, plus they have Lily, the hardest working bartender in Hollywood. Over 40 beers on tap and only $ 2.50 during happy hour 3−6pm.

The best happy hour in the neighborhood. Every day before 6pm $ 2.50 beers. They have a nice selection of good beer(not Coors and Bud) on tap. The place is large with two bar areas and it is relatively quiet daytime and early evening. Food wise, they have a limited menu with usual bar snacks.

This was the first time I went and definitly not the last. This place really has it going. It has really good drinks. AMAZING food! It was my cousins birthday, a group of us went earlier to make sure we had somewhere to actually sit. We ran into a problem… PARKING :(. But I think anywhere on Hollywood Blvd has parking problems. We went grabbed a sit in the patio on the side and chilled. Food was great guys! We had nachos, wings, fries, etc. It was all fabulous. Service: Awesome! The security came to us later in the evening and let us know that they are going to switch the type of music soon. I mean we hadn’t complained but they wanted to make sure we were having the best experience. The owner I think kept on looking for the birthday girl and brought her a cake. I mean I don’t expect him to do it to everyone I guess we were just a VERY large group and we were not loud and obnoxious so I guess he wanted to appreciate that. The waitress was kind of rude in the beginning but then another girl had to cover her break and she was amazing! I asked her for abirthday cake for my cousin with a candle and they didn’t have a candle but she said she can make a alcoholic drink with fire on it as if it is the candle(of course I had to pay for it) but it was amazing! Overall: fabulous experience. Thank You guys at Tavern on Hollywood!

This place has a really nice ambiance, the drink specials are great if you can get a server or bartender to actually serve you one. My friends and I got here at 6PM and we couldn’t get a second drink in before happy hour ended because the service was that slow. In fact, a girl went to the bartop and ordered there because our server was nowhere in site. We also ordered truffle fries and nachos and the nachos were ice cold, they took them back and brought us another plate but honestly… it was cold too. I’m not sure what they’re doing. I’ll come back for the beer tower, it was $ 20 and I think that we got just under 8 beers out of it which is awesome. I saw that someone else loved the restroom, it confused me, I walked in and thought I was in a box but the sink was pretty neat.

I went here for a birthday and I was really impressed with the place. We ordered some nachos, Fried mushrooms and ofcourse sweet potato fries. All the food was delicious and drinks were real good as well but the special they had for $ 5 redbull and vodka was too watered down. Also, the owner came to us personally to talk to us and see how the night was going and also sent 2 bottles of champagne and cake for the bday girl. The terrible part about this place is the parking, had to cough up $ 20 to park but hey that’s Hollywood Blvd to you. I will be back to this place.

This place has a good happy hour special. $ 2.50 for beer. The service is a bit slow though and the waitresses openly complain in front of the customers. I tried the truffle fries sans Parmesan. They were good but nothing that couldn’t be made at home with truffle oil. This place feels like it could be much better but it hasn’t gotten there quite yet.

Based on location and appearance, you’d think this place would charge a lot more than they do. Especially for what you’re getting. I guess it isn’t located centrally within all the Hollywood hustle and bustle, but for just being right outside of it they do a pretty good job in offering some great drink deals and a classy ambiance. We were there on a Saturday night and they have drink deals based on the day of the week. I don’t remember the Saturday deal looking too appealing, but the other days seemed to all look pretty good. We ordered a beer tower off the regular menu and it definitely gave us plenty for the $ 25 we paid for it. Definitely a place I’d like to come back to.

If you are a local, I would take the advice of the locals below about this place, but if you’re visiting Hollywood and want a really cool bar to chill for late night food and drinks, this place is the bomb! Firstly, it LOOKS cool. I love the ropes hanging from the ceiling it’s very original and makes it feel rustic, but still classy and modern. Secondly, it serves food LATE. I think it was like 11pm or later when we got there and they were still serving their full menu… I think. My friend and I got the quesadillas and also the apple pie. We were not at all disappointed. Usually if you order quesadillas, a place will bring you 4 little slices with some plain cheese and guacamole if you’re lucky. This place has a full plate of quesadillas, probably 8 – 10 little triangles with really good guac and sour cream. We scarfed those down quickly and then moved on to the apple pie. YUM. I mean, sure, it’s just apple pie, but whatever, it was damn good! This was a Sat. night and at this time of night I did expect more people to be there, but I love that it was half empty because that means we could easily get a table and not be shoved around by annoying hipsters. I do admit though that it was a total sausage fest in there but I didn’t care, we were mostly left alone. But I was more interested in stuffing my face after an awesome night at the Staples center seeing Muse! Next time I visit my friend in Hollywood, I would totally be down to hit up the Tavern again for some late night food and cool atmosphere :)

Many unhappy locals below in the reviews… add me to that list. Still sad that Osaka left this space. I have also given this place several tries. Friends have been lured in by cheap beers. I guess if all you want is a $ 2.50 beer and nothing else(no food, bored servers, weird empty atmosphere with lame music) then you’ve found your place. I want to focus this review on the terrible food. First off, they have no happy hour food specials ever. Also, their food is SUPER salty. Like I had to stop eating and send it back, salty. Specifically the Jalapeño Poppers. They were literally rolled in salt. You could see hundreds of salt granules on them. Beyond disgusting. Fires were also heavily salted. I’d also like to let you know that their $ 10 hummus plate has about 3 tablespoons of hummus spread thinly over a large plate. There’s some pita triangles on there and a few olives and a tiny bit of inedible meet. Basically, they give you about 50 cents worth of hummus for $ 10. After 4 bites, you’re plate is gone and you’re wondering why the F you are there. Also, if you are getting anything besides beer… the drinks are WAY watered down. Literally no reason to go here ever. Go to Loaded, go to The Well… heck… even go to doucheland Dylan’s… but this place sucks.

Duuuude… We have TRIEDSOHARD to like this place! It’s right down the street so I’ve been there about 5 times. It’s got a great décor. It’s spacious and beautifully designed. They have $ 2.50 beers for Happy Hour! How can you mess that up? By being super wack, super empty and having terrible food. That’s how. First off, every time we go in there, the music is terrible. Not to hate on the employees personal music selection, but its always super depressing. Not cool-Morrissey-depressing, but like, «I’m in a Lynch movie and some weird ish is about to pop off» depressing. Secondly, the food doesn’t look appetizing. It’s bar food in Hollywood, so I don’t expect much. But there’s literally nothing on the menu that looks interesting or worth it’s price. They’ve got french fries, some nachos with beef and fried shrimp. Wow. Underwhelming. and hell, I might even eat some of their more generic menu choices like quesadillas, if there were a Happy Hour special on food. There isn’t. Recently, I gathered a group of girls to go there because they advertised a weekend brunch special. It was like $ 10.00 for mimosas, bloody mary’s and beer all day– something along those lines(I don’t remember the details). We get there to find out that a) this special is only on Sundays. Wack. The place is empty all the time. Why not get us in all weekend? and b) They don’t have any brunch food on the menu. WACK! How you gonna serve mimosas and mozzarella sticks? THATISDISGUSTING! Sadly, Hollywood Tavern reminds me of a place down the street called Boardwalk– so much potential, not enough delivery. Boardwalk is closed now. I don’t see Hollywood Tavern lasting much longer.

The Tavern is super spacious, and there’s a funny bar game with a string and a ring on it that swings, and you need to hook the ring to a nail on the wall. It’s rather entertaining when people are trying really hard to win. I ordered the cider here since I don’t drink beer at all. We also ordered the calamari and fries. It was normal bar food, and the service was friendly. I liked the décor in here, and the bathroom here is pretty nifty. Check it out.

Today was the third maybe time I’ve been here. I’m not Captain FancyPants and don’t expect much out of a bar & grill. This place gots super-cheap beer for happy hour — $ 2.50 anything except Chimay. That’s pretty awesome, cuz they have a real good beer selection. Lots of imports and such. The food is eh, whatever. It’s no better or worse than most of the bar food in the neighborhood(Dillons, Big Wangs, etc). So this is what happens today that kinda forces me to give them a bad Unilocal review. My friend and I went to watch some football, grab a couple beers and food. For the two of us: 2 beers each(4 total), 1 appetizer(garlic truffle fries — okay), 2 pepperoni pizzas(it’s palatable but definitely on the low-end for $ 13 pizza). Everything is still cool though, like 3.5 star level. It’s not real busy and bartender is attentive-enough. Then we get some to-go boxes. They bring us two«pizza» to-go boxes, and when my friend opens his up – four little roaches crawl out. SUPER-GROSS dude. There’s a waitress walking by and she freaks out, she’s asking my friend to kill them. My friend is trying not to act like a scared little puss(not all that successfully) but he for sure isn’t interested in killing roaches at dinner. The roaches scatter. So now this waitress-chick is really grossed out, and she confers with the bartender and the barbacks and cooks and everything. I don’t know what any of them said. But then they come back and this waitress says we should move, so they bring our stuff to us waaaaay down at the other end of the bar. We finish our beers and get our checks to leave and were not comped a single $ 2.50 beer. TORECAP: Employees witnessed us being exposed to roaches, moved us down the bar because of it, and then didn’t even buy us a beer. I just can’t possibly justify going back for food or recommending it to anyone because that’s, like, gross AND bad customer service. HOWEVER, I give it 2 stars because those $ 2.50 beers are a helluva deal, for reals.

Really chill bar with a decent beer selection. Not exactly sure why the beer drinkers are segregated from the boozers(two bars) but I’m perfectly happy in the beer section. Can’t beat 5 $ beers on Thursdays. Bonus points for the beer towers, TH!

Ambiance and décor is a solid 4 stars. It’s different than anything you see on the Boulevard. It’s a cool looking space but I found it lacked any vibe. The service was impersonal — If you have different size beers ASK your customer what size they want — don’t just give me a HUGE beer, don’t SUPERSIZE me when there are smaller beers available. The bartender didn’t know what wines they had by the glass, she gave the 4 of us 1 menu to share and then grabbed it from me to check if they indeed had Sauvignon Blanc. I feel like this place is really lacking a personality, good or bad. It’s just there. But it’s a great space. They could get rid of the tattered pillows on the bench /tables, a bit tacky.

Came here on a Monday after the School Night at Bardot around the corner. Ordered two beers that I have never heard of, which goes to show how extensive the beer selection really is. The place was nice, had kind of a jungle theme but not really going for it. There was one or two people working here, so it took a bit longer to get my beers. No matter, Ill just enjoy a cigarette till it gets there. Maybe because there was not a lot of people there but the bartender actually came up to us, all the way over on the otherside, and asked if we would like another drink. Pretty cool. its the little things in life. Like finding a hula hoop or making a new friend at a new bar.

A friend called me last night and invited me to the soft opening of «Tavern on Hollywood» last night. Given that it’s owned by a friend of a friend, I really hate to give anything but a glowing review, but alas, it was only the soft opening and perhaps things will improve. Pros: Service — really attentive and friendly service. The owner even stopped by a couple times to make sure we were okay. No complaints here. Ambiance/Décor — this I love. You walk in and there’s a small bar area with some tables, then walk into a second room with a huge long bar and tables around it. At the back, you can see the kitchen through glass. And to the left, a large outdoor patio. The place has a ton of potential. Happy Hour — until 7pm, you can get some drinks for $ 2.50. Cons: Parking — No parking anywhere around; your best bet is to park at or near the Arclight and walk over. It’s just under half a mile so not super convenient. Food/Drink — We tried the jalapeño poppers, shrimp nachos, and zucchini fries(or was it eggplant? it was some sort of fried vegetable). I’m usually pretty good at remembering exactly what I ordered, so the fact that I can’t remember what I ate last night tells you how, um, not memorable it was. I also tried the Moscow Mule and it tasted like it didn’t have any alcohol in it and was made from one of those store bought mixes. it has this artificial sweetness to it. Conclusion: Come here for the ambiance and a lot of bar seating, and order something on tap. Don’t expect too much from the food/drinks and you won’t be disappointed.
