TDI Properties

First, I have to say that Karen at TDI Properties deserves a million stars. She treated me with the utmost respect, professionalism, and consideration. Also, I received my security deposit within 48 hours after leaving Romaine Towers.
If it weren’t for the following situation, I would be giving them all the stars in the world.
My Apartment had tons of roaches. TDI and I worked this out. So I wont hold that against them.
My biggest issue in living at Romaine Towers (8011 Romaine Street) was with the building manager, Felix Lopez.
I had suspicions about his character when I first moved in. He spoke badly about other tenants as well as badmouthed tenants TO other tenants. I ignored it. I wanted to live in the area and the rent was the best rate I could find at the time. It was still expensive. After so much searching, I figured I could just keep that manager at bay. After all, how often does one really need to interact with a manager? Big mistake!
One Saturday morning at 9am there was roofing taking place. Naturally on my day off, I wanted to sleep in. I should have that right especially paying a pretty penny for that apartment on my own. I went to his door (business hours were posted as 9am-​2pm) and he became aggravated by me asking him to do something about it.
I could understand if I approached him in an aggressive or hostile manner. Instead I was calm and direct. I was expecting him to negotiate a way to respond to this. Perhaps he could have directed the roofers workers to work on another section such as over a unit that had a tenant with hearing difficulties etc. He told me instead to file a complaint with TDI. So I did just that and called the police as a permit is required to do that type of work on a Saturday.
TDI did not respond to me. So then a few weeks passed. Then the toilets were being replaced in all the 50 + apartments. I wanted to coordinate a time slot. I kept my communication with Lopez in writing. I placed a letter under his door informing him my availability. I did not get a response. Instead it had to be on their time which I couldnt allow as I will not let anyone into my unit unless Im there. I have pets and will not take a chance in them running out the door while Im gone.
When I saw him in the hallway, I followed up on this. He spoke over me, did not hear me out, and aggressively ordered me NOT to speak to the workers as he was in charge, not me. I didnt give him a reaction. Instead I called and complained to Karen. She apologized. I realize that one cant be rational with the irrational as it becomes deaf ears.
When I moved out, I dealt directly with TDI instead of Lopez. However the walk out appointment with Lopez was beyond negative. I had a suspicion that would be the case so I recorded the entire interaction on my phone and posted it for TDI to hear as proof.
Also, Lopez had my original application from when I moved in. That contained my social security and drivers license number I was very uncomfortable with that as it should’ve been stored in a secured file cabinet at a headquarters office, not an apartment building especially in the hands of a questionable character.
Lopez then stated in slurred speech that TDI may charge me for the oil leakage in the garage. It was as if he was drinking or on something. He made weird statement «You never called me back when I called you about this.» I never got a call or a voice message. So I thought we finished our business and continued to the garage. I decided to photograph a few parking spots that had oil leaks.
Lopez followed me a few minutes later. He asked «When are you leaving? I dont have all day.» I realize TDI cant control Lopez. However they employ him.
Rents are not cheap in today’s market. If a property management is charging market value, they need to employ more professional individuals with better communication, people, and trouble-​shooting skills. Its apparent Lopez never graduated from high school. All the notices posted throughout the building have exclamation points after a salutation line.
Any employee is a representative of a company. After a prior sour experience (the roofing) I believe TDI should have taken action with a warning or termination. I understand most building managers get a free rent and a small stipend; so their motivation is minimal.
Therefore, I DO recommend TDI for their OTHER properties — however NOT Romaine Towers or any other building managed by Felix Lopez. Also I recommend if you fill out an application that has your social security number, inquire where it will be stored.
I do not trust Lopez or his work ethic. In fact, I would not even trust that man cleaning a toilet, let alone managing a building or maintaining documentation containing private information.
This place goes down in my history as the 2^nd worst place I lived in.

Dennis is the beat manager. He is caring and values his tenants. Anything that I needed during my stay in his managed apartments was always handled. TDI and Dennis definitely are a team to beat!!!

Worked with Dennis and Karen and they were great and very helpful! I move in this week and I’m very excited! Both Dennis and Karen answered all of my questions! Made a very stressful apartment search come to a care free easy end! Thanks guys i recommend them both!

Being a tenant under their management has been such a headache. First, I will divulge that I stuck it out probably a bit too long… but my reasons for staying were my two wonderful neighbors and the unit itself was located so close to my work. However, this company routinely rotates or fires property managers so that none of the tenants in the property you rent out knows who to talk to let alone this clerk at TDI Properties, which makes it insanely difficult to communicate with one person about the history of your residence for repairs and concerns.
Danny, the director of maintenance also has zero customer service skills to speak of, just rather defaults to breaking leases instead of actually engaging in dialogue about solutions or apologizing for his mistakes in selecting ill prepared and under-​trained subcontractors for repairs, AKA a major pipe leak that lead to major repairs of three rooms in my unit and formation of mold deposits with two toxic varietals being present. Seriously, this maintenance director never showed up to the job site to see his subcontractors drying out three rooms of soaked drywall with ONE small floor circulating fan that I owned. He wanted to just let me break my lease to do bare minimum repairs and let some other family move in behind me and put them at risk for mold exposure cuz they wouldn’t know any better once it’s all covered up. I had to arrange for proper remediation and upfront expenses, and even after, TDI Properties, inc never showed any courtesy after the fact for taking care of their beautiful property or even admitting that they didn’t do it right at first. Their manager tried to cover Danny’s mess and coat it over after I had been displaced from my apartment for 5 weeks while the repair were being completed. However, TDI did not provide any alternative residence while I was out, not even a motel. I couch surfed with friends till it was retested.
At least after that, you would think that this company would want to prevent me from expensing them for additional repair costs when another issue came up! You’d be wrong. The SECOND leak broke the camels back for me… no property manager phone call to assist with the problem, just a random plumber not coming for three weeks on their schedule when I provided verbal consent to come on the property the next work day with the property manager on site. No, no, no… TDI couldn’t be bothered to come out. Not even a follow-​up phone call after the plumber came to assess the new dry wall damage and any potential mold concerns this go around.
This property management has the gaul to post on their web site «100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.» I’m just saying that this is a farce, and you should not invest in living any property managed by this company. TDI Properties, Inc will give you unnecessary grief, anxiety and headaches over the simplest things while they are in your life. Just imagine going through something actually significant like I did. Avoid them at all cost. My only positive about this company is a woman named Rishi who works there. She’s very courteous and conscientious with people. She needs to be promoted to the manager and train the other authorities in the office and how to care about people who’s lives are affected by this company. They never showed care or concern over me or my fellow neighbors. I’m just worried cuz they don’t have the resources like I do to move on from that place. Don’t get involved with this company, they don’t care about you as a renter.

We had a pretty bad HVAC issue in our home. It took several technicians to diagnose the problem, and eventually repair it. Danny and Sara stuck with it throughout the process, treating the house as if it were their own. Sara showed up at the house to meet a repair technician, and when it was clear that the tech did not repair the problem, Danny was quick to move to a specialist who eventually completed the repair. Property management is not an easy job, and is often a matter of handling many complaints in a single day, but we are impressed and happy with TDI.

I have lived in a building that TDI managed for years I still lived there but now the new company took over. TDI staff was super nice and helpful especially Sara and Richie. They help me with everything I ask them for. Go out of the way to make things happen. I was out of the country for two months and still they handle what needed to be done for me.

I moved to LA from NYC last year. It’s never a given that you’re going to find a responsive property manager and I have had some pretty terrible NY experiences over the years, which is why I am so delighted (and relieved!) that I found a beautiful apartment, managed by such a professional team. Sara Galindo is my go-​to. She has been super helpful with everything, from immediate follow up to a repair request to answering my many random questions that I had when I moved to LA. She’s always reachable and responsive, which gives me peace of mind.

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY AT ALL! LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! This company was semi-​decent until we had a baby and then they turned into sour jerks. They actually threw out our $ 1000 stroller in the dumpster and responded with «we don’t provide storage» yet don’t touch anyones bicycles. They have been rude on all fronts and unaccomodating in every way. There is no decency. In fact, we at least complained and yelled at them for being so disgusting whereas there was a nice Chinese-​speaking family in the building whose stroller was also thrown out and couldn’t speak up for themselves and TDI didn’t care. They will bounce you around between secretaries and voicemails forever before getting you an actual manager on the phone. And the fixings are all very cheap quality. Do not recommend.

Been living at a TDI property for almost a year now. It will be a year in Mid November. When we moved in, we had a few LA showers at that time that causes a leak from our bedroom window and our property manager Sara jumped on it right away. Sara Galindo has been very helpful since we moved in, from helping with the application process to any maintenance requests. She’s pretty busy since she oversees several different properties but still has time to answer your concerns and handle your maintenance requests in a timely manner. I’m a happy tenant. I would be happy to rent from them again, if and when I move out.

The truth is that there are just too many properties for their team to manage in a way that is satisfying for us residents.
That said, Sara and Rishi are wonderful. Sara did a good job working with us to resolve a frustrating utility charge issue, which was great. She has been good about being in touch and communicating with us as residents.
It just seems like there is a lot to do because of the property load. The unfortunate result is cutting corners on an institutional level, and a less than great experience as a resident.

I was a tenant with TDI Properties for close to two years. From the moment I first reached out to learn more about the apartment I ultimately rented, Sara Galindo was my gal. Even though she oversees dozens of properties, she always was quick to respond to my every need and treated me like a friend. I recently relocated to San Diego and Sara was so helpful and accommodating throughout my somewhat disastrous evacuation of the unit. We didn’t have enough room in the moving truck, so we ended up leaving a ton of junk behind, including a fully stocked refrigerator… and we’re hardly penalized and totally taken care of. So, hats off to you, Sara, and our sincere thanks!

I’m new to TDI, having started my lease in June, but thus far my experience with them has been quite positive. My flatmate and I have both been happy with Sara Galindo and everyone else we interacted with in the company. Even the small issues with our dishwasher and oven have been solved with some combination of polite requests and patience. Our Glendale apartment is comfortable, the neighbors are pleasant, and Sara is responsive and helpful. The TDI I’ve experienced is a fine place to rent from, and I hope to enjoy that for a long time to come.

I am currently a tenant with TDI Properties. My experience with them has been great! When I have some maitenance issues, I called Sara Galindo and she has quickly taken care of it. We have been happy in their apartment for almost 3 years. I would definitely recommend them.

I have been a tenant for four years now and the staff is always very attentive and helpful whenever I need to resolve an issue. Sara Galindo has been the manager I report to, and I am so happy to know I can count on her. In multiple instances I’ve been clumsy with keys and she has been so quick to make arrangements to help me either make a copy or assist me in getting back in. My loyalty is with TDI due to fantastic people like her!

This property management company is on top of their game.
All issues have been dealt with promptly and in a quick manner.
Very responsive and very quick for all inquiries.

I, unlike other people had an amazing experience with the property manager, Dennise and the office staff. I actually searched them over through Unilocal to look up other properties managed by them. Since I moved away from LA (I lived in Mariposa building.) And Im looking to possibly rent from them again!
I felt the manager went above and beyond to help with any issues I had (like in any other apartment) and the office staff was extremely nice and informative about my options.

TDI Properties is as close enough to a scam as you can get. The woman who showed us the house, Sara Galindo appeared to be nice at first, but we were clearly scammed for application fees that were never even processed.
I’ve dealt with plenty of real estate agents before and this by far was the most useless non existent interaction. After our credit checks were supposed to be processed we were never contacted and have tried to get in contact with the «Real Estate Agent» Sara Galindo.
We have yet to be contacted after two and a half weeks from when we applied for the apartment. We were prompt with our applications and paperwork but they were absent on their end. All we needed was a «yes» or «no» but we have yet to be contacted, very unprofessional I must say. Do yourself a favor and save the $ 30 for application fees, TDI properties is a waste of time and lacks professional customer service that is essential for this industry.

Lack of communication, understanding and promptness.
Probably the worst property management company I’ve ever dealt with.
It’s truly unfortunate since my initial encounter with Dennis (one of the agents) was cordial and pleasant and now he’s switching up everything we discussed, which is unacceptable. Completely negligent and sooooo far from upfront. Go elsewhere.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the majority of the reviewers here. I have never had issues with my landlord, so my experience with TDI definitely stands out.
When I moved out I, like other users, received incorrect information from Jaclyn the receptionist. I finally obtained my security deposit after two months and it was at this time that I was informed of substantial reductions to my security deposit. Sara Galindo cannot keep appointments and the owner, Danny Levin, is dismissive about complaints from customers. My concerns were ignored and I would’ve taken my issues to small claims court, however I relocated to the east coast. To anyone reading these reviews, stay AWAY from any properties owned/​managed by TDI.

My property manager Dennis told me that to get my application fee back, I have to leave them a good review on their website. That sounds like bribery, doesn’t it? And it’s not even good bribery. Instead of withholding money you owe me, buy me a bouquet of flowers. Now that’s decent bribery. I would know.
I’ll come back to complain more. There will be more. Bribery, incompetence, taking months to address issues, rude language, refusal to comply with their side of terms… This company doesn’t have the leverage to act like this.
