Very disappointed tonight in the service we received. The bar is 5 stars due to the bartenders especially Andres. Always nice and friendly. I am a local in downtown but will not eat at this Resturant again. I was with two clients who dropped almost $ 400 on dinner and wine and our waitress and the female manager were condescending and non accommodating in all levels. Never did any one come by and check on us or even offer to pour wine. Get over yourselves. You are not in Italy. Your food is not fantastic. I will spend my money at Louie Bottega and Colori before I eat here again.

This place is awesome! !! First of all, the atmosphere is very cool. It’s an airy trendy yet cozy vibe. The waitstaff is very attentive and eclectic. Our waiter was great on his game. My only complaint is that the free bread was a little cold and chewy. My boyfriend got the porkchop special with roasted potatoes and sautéed asparagus. The chop looked super yummy and juicy. He said the asparagus was TDF. and I had a few tastes of the SUPERBOMBPOTATOES! I got the pasta«alla norma» Which came with handmade pasta, a light tomato sauce, and deep fried eggplant. Oh man that was good and filling. For dessert we got the daily semifreddo which was a thick lemony custard with ice cream? Not aure how to explain it but it was delish. We cannot wait to come back here again to try the pizza!!!

This place is grand. Honestly, I’m shocked that it’s only rated 3.5 stars. While I wouldn’t rate it 5, I’d say that the ambiance, atmosphere, environment, location, menu, and food quality all exceeded expectations and are top notch. The service was slow, and they don’t budge in terms of the way they serve their dishes, which I could definitely see as an annoyance to many, and partially why they have so many poor reviews. However, because they do that, their authenticity remains in tack, due to their stubbornness. The food is served authentically how they make it, and they won’t allow you to ruin it. This is both a good and a bad thing, and definitely a fine line that is tough to balance. All together, the food I tried here was delicious(mostly pasta dishes and some shared pizza). They have a great wine selection, and they do serve beer, with some excellent choices. The building itself is awesome, with tall vaulted ceilings, and fancy décor. Located in the heart of downtown, there are many options when deciding what to do after. Go ahead and give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend it. It’s my belief that the Italian food here is extremely authentic, and the taste is outstanding. I will be back.

My first time in LA and my friend takes me to this Italian gem! I cannot say enough great things about this place. You can always tell the quality of a restaurant by how they deal with mishaps. My dish arrived a little under cooked. Greg took care of it right away and it came back perfectly cooked and just delicious. I like the atmosphere, out waiter, Greg, was super attentive. Then I found out they serve my most favorite beer in the world — Krombacher — not easy to find outside of Germany. Our food was amazing. Pasta a la lemone was incredible. Definitely on my list of places to come back to!

2.5 stars to be exact. I’ve passed by this place numerous times and it seriously looks elegant and romantic from the outside looking in. The décor is phenomenal! You walk in and you think your in some crazy high class palace to have lunch or dinner. We came here as a group of 35 – 40 people, so my review is based on a group experience. From the time we walked in, it was a decent yet somehow unorganized experience. When we walked in, they knew what party we were with and where to be seated. Once we were seated, it kinda went downhill from there… the waitress did not introduce herself. She did not walk around asking what each person wants to drink. It was scattered from the get go. In front of each persons seat was a little list of foods, which we were informed were were going to have a fixed menu when we walked in, but still that doesnt mean we understand what that paper means. So we were all confused… Do we get to eat all the items on that paper? Do we tell the waitress which items we’d like as our lunch??? what the heck is going on!!! AND where is our bread!!! lol So moving forward, our entire party pretty much arrived and we all had to probably share enough bread that we all probably had 1 slice until we had to wait and wait til we personally had to ask for more. In the meanwhile I ordered an Arnold Palmer which tasted realllly tangy. It was so tangy I basically sipped it through the whole dinner. Then 20 minutes later they brought out a salad which was good but heavily drenched in olive oil… which I personally dont mind, but others didnt like. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes until they brought out a pizza… Please keep in mind, we occupied three tables and on our table we had about 20 people and they brought out 3 pizzas for all of us to share to start with… We all started laughing about how we could be barbarians and fight for a slice. Then one side of the table got another type of pizza, while the other side waited. Then 10 minutes later they brought out another pizza. We were seriously thinking it was a joke at that point. Please keep in mind, in the midst of all this, WE had to ask the waiters/waitress when we wanted something to drink, they never had the courtesy to ask for refills. Then they started bringing out these pasta plates. There was one pasta plate with marinara sauce and another with cheese and beef. Sorry to say, but both were bland, I didnt like the cheese and beef one at all. So, what does Jack do??? Start looking around for something to spice it up! Wheres the salt??? Wheres the pepper??? WHEREISTHEPARMESANCHEESE!!! lol… seriously, it was getting ridiculous. So I asked the waitress… Salt and pepper please… some Arnold Palmer, AND some more bread??? Please! She got me my bread and Arnold Palmer. She got me the salt, but where is the pepper? She was holding it until I mentioned it again. In the midst of all this, I don’t want to blame the waitress. I personally believe the disastrous lunch we had, which in my optimistic perspective made us at least laugh, is all due to management! If I I knew ahead of time that a party of 35 – 40 people are coming, I would have followed these steps: — Make sure we have 1 waitress designated STRICTLY to that area/party and not have them going in and out — Makes sure the food is prepped ahead of time(I understand quality has the utmost importance, but not when you have people sitting there hungry and confused) — Make sure the waiter/waitress has an introduction, explanation, and keeps a happy environment. — Make sure drinks are offered from the time you’re seated, refills are offered, and bread is on the table(Its Italian for goodness sake!!) — Keep the same foods coming at the same time so you don’t have one starving part of the table with something they might not like and see something that the other side of the table received and just got distributed to all the other hungry people. — Service with a smile??? — With a party this large, have the manager take a BRIEF moment of his busy noon time to thank the party for actually choosing this restaurant and just check to see if everyone is content and happy… This goes a LONG way… Sorry… The list goes on and on… and I was going to make it 3 stars for my 2.5, but as I’m writing this, I’m dropping it to 2 stars. So, would I return??? Yes, for one thing, and one thing only! I want to try their Lava cake(see what happens when you’re insane about sugar??? I need to stay away from that lava cake to keep myself from going back into my sugar binge). For the most part, no I wouldnt go back. I wouldnt recommend it, and I’m sorry to say, when you have such a beautiful restaurant in the middle of the heart of LA and you have a 3.5 star average on Unilocal, you’re management should be looking into some change cause it seems like everyone’s complaining about the same things, which makes me wonder… do they care??? I dont know.

Made a reservation for a group for a Sunday night. Had a last minute add, the day of, and the restaurant said no problem to changing it to a group of 6. There’s valet parking out front for $ 8. Terroni is located in a 1924 Bank Building; notice the«Bank» above the entrance. Step inside and you are immediately struck by the gilded high ceilings. There were several groups of people standing around at the entry and only one hostess, so it took a few minutes before we were led to our table(the rest of our group was already there seated). While walking to the table I noticed that the tables were well spaced. However, upon sitting, you realized that although the high ceilings are grand, it is LOUD in the restaurant. One side of our table had difficulty listening to the other. Along one wall, there was a movie screen playing, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Huge fan of the movie, but seemed a bit odd for dinner on a Sunday at an Italian restaurant. Starters: Arancini di Modica-Deep fried rice stuffed w/cheese & ragu. There are 4, but they are pretty big and I tasted half of one. Its good, but its fried; too filling for me at the start of my meal. Tagliere Mezzo e Mezzo-Italian Cheese & Meat board. Good selection of meat & cheeses. Table enjoyed this. Bread was brought to the table, but it wasn’t hot and it was brought after our starters. Entrée: Pappardelle w/oxtail. This was Very Good. The pasta tasted fresh and the oxtail was tender and flavorful. I ate way more than I had intended. So I would recommend for a festive group, but not an intimate dinner date.

I REALLY like about 60% of their menu. The good stuff is very very good the bad stuff is bad. So if you go it’s worth asking the waiter what’s good on the menu. I usually order the pizza or off the specials menu. I’ve never had a special I didn’t love. Also note they like to do things their own way there so they don’t cut your pizza for you, they will NOT no matter what add or change anything from a menu item, and don’t even think about asking for parm cheese. I’m not exaggerating. The truffle sausage pasta is one of the best things there.

The place is esthetically pleasant inside a historic building with nice décor located in DTLA. The drinks are decent but nothing to rave about. I’ve visited this place twice and first time bad impression– gave second chance yesterday hoping it will be some adjustment to how they run and operate business but nah — same shit different day. Here is the story– I was a former vegan and due to health issue i had incorporated some dishes back into my diet however I still eat no pork or beef on rare occasion chicken. I am also highly allergic to certain seafood and other ingredients etc. That being said when i frequent a restaurant and paying for the service I like to make some modification to my meal even if that comes with an added cost. First time i visited I made one request to modified the seafood pasta but was denied that; because that is the way the chef makes the food, and he think and feel that is the way it should be eaten«because is authentic italian food» and that is how is done and eaten in Italy. I couldn’t belief the answer– my husband in the other hand asked for some tomato marinara sauce on the side for his calamari but was denied his request, due same chef recommendation on how the food should be eaten; he won’t alter his dishes or recipe to please a customer. This person(chef) just seem to be a narcissistic self center dictator and is not about the client is all about him and the way he feel you should be eating your food no matter of your medical condition or special food request. This chef decided that his menu would allow no substitutions of any kind, you got the food the way he wanted to prepare it, regardless of food allergies or client preferences. His total failure to engage with his customers will cost this place a lot business and a lot of customers

I have come back for dinner a few times, but I am also a regular happy hour guest. The calamari and shrimp skewers are delicious. That’s on the dinner menu, as well. The pimiento cheese is another favorite of mine, and that’s only on the happy hour menu. They put out a free buffet of bread sticks with prosciutto, great with martinis, and little sandwiches on Wednesdays. I am reducing my rating to three stars, though, because I get consistently overcharged at the bar. My most recent visit, I was charged full price for wine during happy hour. I have also been charged for extra glasses of wine I did not have twice. I hate feeling I can’t relax, because I will have to audit my check.

Beautiful place! I had the IL Salmone — great presentation but I suppose that’s why it’s a Fancy name for eggs Benedict. Everything was actually good. My friend had the Spaghetti — flavorful with garnished basil leaves. Asked for Crushed red peppers to give it a kick and the sauce was just the right amount of chunky. THECONS — My waiter wasn’t really that great. What I mean is, he wasn’t very personable.(HERE I GO with my southern ways but…) it’s hard to leave tips for people in the customer service industry when you don’t engage. Waiters should understand that the amount of a tip is NOT an obligation but a courtesy. There’s a reason why ppl LOVE to go back to restaurants. The food could be mediocre but we will always return to sit in a specific waiters sections. They didn’t have ketchup(I LOVEKETCHCUP!). Not a fan of someone trying to make me eat dry potatoes; WHO eats dry potatoes, tho?! My friend and I agree that we wouldn’t intentionally eat here again. Truth of the matter, there just wasn’t enough umph about this spot that would make us wanna go back. Nothing memorable. … Moral of this eating story… The plate was really pretty!

My husband and I came here before a show at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. It’s only about a block away from the hotel. Although happy hour went until 7pm and we arrived around 6, we unfortunately couldn’t partake in HH as it’s only available at the bar, which was full. The dining room was quite the opposite, as it was mostly all open tables. The high ceilings were cool here, but the ceilings were about all that stood out to me as making this place unique. The menu had a decent selection pastas, pizzas, and some specials. We ended up splitting and appetizer and a pizza(the pizzas are the perfect size for 2 people to share…12 inches). I wasn’t crazy about the food, but it wasn’t bad either. The service was attentive but not super friendly or personable. Overall, I wasn’t too impressed besides the building itself and I’d probably try a different spot the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Awesome pizza and fresh verde salad. Love the details of their ceiling and walls with large windows & also their open space. Waiters had great customer service. Only thing I didn’t like was the fact that their napkins were dusty when I opened it to put it on my lap. Literally saw dust flying. Makes me question their upkeep of cleanliness. They have nice area for private parties upstairs and also downstairs.

Meh. This place didn’t impress me. The happy hour menu wasn’t that great so we didn’t even order off of it in the end(even though we came for the happy hour) Bartender was standoffish. Not very friendly. Wasn’t busy at all and he kind of just took our order and waited till we flagged him down for something we needed. I ordered a 15 $ salad that didn’t even half fill me up. VERY small portions for the price. My boss got the spaghetti dish which he said was tasty, as was my salad. Beautiful building with high windows and tons of sunlight. We enjoyed the ambiance here for happy hour but I’ll probably try other places for happy hour and come back here for a full meal.

Super pleased with my experience here. We were seated by the window on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed a wonderful ragu, pizza, and breakfast sandwich. Service was not rushed and pretty laid back. This was perfect though as we wanted to really soak in our afternoon together but did not feel neglected. The food was very delicious but the experience made it even better. The high ceilings and big bright Windows made for an awesome relaxing time! I would gladly come here for brunch again.

DESSERT only review, but the slow service we got was enough to make me think twice about coming back we sat at the bar around 11pm to get dessert & drinks, but no one helped us for a good 10 minutes even though bartenders were walking behind the bar constantly and the place was relatively empty —semifreddo of the day(salted caramel): creamy and tasty! i enjoyed the candied hazelnuts! we had just left Preux & Proper next door which has over the top friendly service so maybe it was the stark contrast that threw us off

Ok, now that I’ve been here a couple times I feel like I can give it a fair review. This place is awesome! Parking can be a real drag since it’s downtown but they do offer valet(for $ 8 I believe). Upon walking in, there is a pretty big bar which both times I went was always packed. The ceilings are high and the architecture is beautiful! I think my absolute favorite thing about this place(other than the food) is the live DJ! I feel that it’s rare I see that outside of a bar or club. As far as appetizers go, I’m always a sucker for calamari and theirs is incredible. The Arancini di Modica was the boyfriend’s choice and I wasn’t much of a fan. I pretty much love all things fried but I feel like they just lacked flavor. My favorite dish I’ve tried there was the Bucatini all’Amatriciana. I highly recommend it! Soooo delicious, it was packed with flavor and I feel like it just melted in my mouth. I didn’t want it to end. A close second was the Tagliolini in Canna a Mare. You get so much seafood in the dish and the light tomato sauce is incredible. If you do nothing else, GETTHENUTELLAFRITTERS. They are to die for! The service has been awesome both times I’ve gone. They offered great suggestions as far as dishes, wine, and cocktails go. I can’t remember the name of my favorite cocktail but it had mezcal, tequila, and prickly pear. So good! Definitely would go back to try the pizzas or check out their WeHo location.

AMBIANCE– Open space, cement floors, loft feel. Classic 80s music. Muted cartoons projected on the wall. The ambiance can feel slightly disorienting at first(I initially felt like the vibe didn’t match up), but it grew on me. FOOD– I ordered the lamb ragu pasta with parmesan shavings, which I would recommend. I really liked the slightly chewy texture of the capunti pasta. The lamb taste was mild, so it would be good for both lamb and non-lamb lovers. Overall it was a solid dish that I would order again. Even their bread is on point. I loved how fresh and doughy it was. It should be noted that the bread only comes with a side of extra virgin olive oil. If you inquire about balsamic, the waiter will likely give you a spiel about how they don’t carry balsamic because good balsamic takes about 30 years to make. DRINKS– I can’t tell you what cocktail I ordered because I don’t recall, but it was some sort of orange flavored gin cocktail that wasn’t too strong or too sweet. If you tell the waiter what kind of drink style you prefer, he can point you in the right direction. In short, this is one of those restaurants that I wouldn’t go to if it were to Unilocal due to the mixed reviews. However, I actually quite enjoyed the restaurant and am glad I got to try it. The lesson(ironically) is to take Unilocal reviews with a grain of salt and not to use it as an end-all-be-all to where and what you eat. Cheers!

Beautiful space. Noise level can be a bit loud, but nothing like Bottega Louie loud. We had reservations for a Friday night and were running a little behind and called to notify the front. Once we got there we were seated right away and had a very friendly and attentive waiter. Bread and olive oil was brought to the table, although, I wish balsamic or freshly ground black pepper came as an accompaniment as well. I ordered the seafood pasta which is not served with parmesan(as noted on the menu). Don’t worry, the dish doesn’t need it! It has a nice and rich seafood flavor and the portion size is just right. I also ordered the lemon tart for dessert which could have been a bit more tangy. However, it was served with a tiny scoop of custard gelato which was quite delectable. I’d like to take a pint of the gelato to-go!

Beautiful atmosphere(check out the ornate ceilings!) for a classy, downtown dinner with some very delicious menu choices, but service could be better. My coworker and I had dinner here last week on a Thursday night and ordered an appetizer of duck prosciutto + burrata + spinach. The meat was delicious and the burrata was so fresh. We each got the housemade pastas. I got a very simple tagliatelle bolognese which was pretty good, but not stellar. I really loved the assertive flavors of my dining companion’s dish, reginette with gorgonzola cheese, Italian sausage and radicchio, which was a curly edged wide noodle pasta with housemade sausage in a non-tomato based sauce that everyone seems to get here from the look at the Unilocal reviews here. I would recommend the reginette! Our waiter didn’t check in on us much, maybe just at the very beginning right after we got our dishes, and we had to summon him to request fresh pepper(he hadn’t us the mill to just do it ourselves) and fresh parmesan. We both agreed the service could’ve been more attentive and friendlier for such a nice establishment. I might come back if others wanted to come but I’m not enthusiastic enough about my experience to recommend it.
