I’ve been in search of a good Thai restaurant since moving to Southern California. This was hands down the best Thai curry I’ve had in LA. Unfortunately, I heard they were closing though.

We ordered the dinner special, it’s for two persons, comes with two appetizers, two entrées, and fried or steamed rice. DELIIIIIIICIOUS! The beef satay. amazing, the peanut dressing. delicious! The pad thai… Super delicious. Overall, it’s one of the best thai restaurants I’ve tried so far, and I’m a fan of thai food… oh yes, and the staff is super friendly.

Something that I’ve learned is not to trust completely in Unilocal reviewers. I’m in shock to find some many complains about this place.
From my personal experience I will say that food is delicious and the place has a cozy ambience. We live in Westwood and hadn’t visited this restaurant until now. So glad we did it! We came for dinner and got the dinner special for two. For only $ 16 per person we enjoyed a delicious local salad with peanut sauce dressing an order of beef satay; for entrée we got one of the best pad Thai I have tried in LA, cashew chicken and an order of fried rice. The portions are big and the staff is very friendly. We will definitely come back.

The décor is a bit outdated. The ambience a tad lackluster. The service slow and the food not that inspiring. Overall I wasn’t impressed by Thai House but I should of known given their fact the name is hidden from view on the sign outside as if its ashamed to be seen.
I had the house curry with shrimp and broken rice along with the lunch special fish cakes. The curry was decent. Nothing special. It was a decent size so that’s a plus, its plenty enough to share. The fish cakes were a bit too salty. Texturally they have potential but the seasoning was a bit heavy handed. Wld suggest getting the fish cakes as a lunch special rather than the appetizer. Its a nice amount of patties and they come with a soup ands salad and its a lot cheaper.
Seems like this place has a lot of potential given there isn’t a lot of Thai food competition in Westwood. Buy perhaps that creates complacency where decency is enough. I wld suggest a renovation, it def has a grandma feel which doesn’t necessarily match the neighborhood. And they can twerk the menu a bit. Get those Thai flavors popping maybe try decreasing the salt and increasing some lemon grass or chili peppers something to really bring the dish together.

My most recent experience at this place for lunch was not how I remembered it from the first time I went months ago. I remember I enjoyed the curry so much I thought about it for days, but this time it was BLAH (for lack of better words). It was not worth the price at all.
I remember it use to get packed with people for lunch and this time there was barely anyone. I wonder if management or chef changed. I tried some of the fish cakes too and they were way too salty. I was really disappointed to say the least and a bit embarrassed since I invited to of my colleagues to come and they were also disappointed. Doubt I’ll ever come here again.

Best Authentic Thai Food in Los Angeles.
I’ve been going here since they first opened in the late 80’s as a UCLA student, and have been coming ever since. They have great lunch specials. For the price of a burger or chicken combo somewhere else, you get a nice sit-​down meal with silverware, excellent service, and a warm and inviting ambience. $ 8-​$ 10.
Their pad thai is da bomb. Excellent gourmet shrimp, scrumptious satae, very good curries as others have mentioned, and I luv their coconut-​based soups! Yummy.
Great Thai iced tea and iced coffees. They also have the perfect-​sized green tea ice cream or vanilla coconut ice cream for dessert (which is not on the menu) for sharing.

I really wanted to like this place, but it was unfortunately a disappointment. The staff was very nice thus the 2 stars but the food was disappointing. I also enjoy a good pad see ewe, but theirs lacked heat and flavor. It also could have had more broccoli and egg. The portion size was good. Girlfriend got the pad thai, also lacked heat and flavor. All I tasted was the peanuts. We asked for chili sauce, which came in a nice 3 container thing of habanero, chili sauce and red pepper flakes. The chili sauce looked like marinara sauce and maybe even tasted a little bit like it. There was no heat on it, so I had to use the red pepper flakes. They do have tofu, which is nice, but overall the food is a miss. Sad to say, but I won’t be coming back.
P. S. if you check in here they give you 15% off your bill, which I didn’t realize until after I paid :/

Why haven’t I tried this place before?
It’s conveniently located on Gayley Ave, and easy walk from UCLA. It wasn’t very crowded when I went at 12:30pm. The service was good, the food came fast, and everything was well-​cooked and delicious. I tried the Pad Thai, Green Bean Chicken, and the Panang Curry. Spot on for each. My favorite was the Panang curry. The Green Bean Chicken was spicy! Also, their Thai iced tea is under $ 2.
Lunch specials I believe were $ 7 – 8 for soup, salad, rice, and an entrée. These are kind of unbeatable values. I’ll definitely be coming back if I have some extra lunch time. Very satisfying.
Note: Free parking in garage on Broxton for 2 hours.

Great Thai place near UCLA! The Thai Iced tea is good, and the spicy flat noodles are my favorite! The pad thai is also pretty flavorful, but I’ve had better elsewhere. The service is nothing memorable, but the food is definitely ‘hit the spot’ worthy. The only reason I don’t come here as often is because it is a little more expensive than other Thai places close by and it isn’t that much better than those places. However, it is in an excellent location so that goes a long way sometimes. I’ve been here multiple times, ordered take out, etc and haven’t had a bad experience yet!

This is some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I’m really shocked by some of the reviews on here. I’ve been to this place dozens of times and I’ve never had a negative experience. My personal favorite dishes are the Green bean Chicken and Bamboo shoots

I was skeptical after reading the reviews. HOWEVER, having ate there, can’t understand why some people are so… meh… about it. The food is Thai, real at heart thai. It’s plentiful, well prepared and it taste good. The drawback? It’s not the morphed to LA Thai that some people are used to. Service is good, no complaints at all. Good value for the money as well.

Green curry fish with brown rice (brown rice extra $ 2). It wasn’t bad at all. 3 star quality food. Ambiance and service was nice. Nothing was really exceptional.

Decent restaurant. It was empty on a Friday night except for my friend and I. Service was good, and the menu was that of a typical Thai restaurant. We ordered a vegetable curry and a vegetable pad thai. Both were fairly good. There was a piece of hair in my rice, but I took it out and pretended I never saw it. The vegetables didn’t taste fresh, but the food wasn’t as oily as in Mr. Noodle, so we didn’t feel gross after eating. Good thing was that food was pretty cheap compared to other places in Westwood. Not the best Thai place I’ve been to, but will probably go again!

Pad Thai was acceptable, not the greatest.
Same comment for the Thai Tea
but the Tom Yum soup does not taste like Tom Yum at all! it has broccoli in it… in Tom Yum? tastes very very mildly like lemongrass, and is overall flavorless.
There are a lot of better Thai options for the price in the area. Not recommended

The service is 5 stars, but the food really needs work. I feel bad writing negative things about their food since these guys are super nice. But it doesn’t make me happy forking over more than $ 10 for mediocre food.
This review is mostly to complain about their overzealousness with the fish sauce. I understand this presents itself heavily in Thai food, but I have never been to a Thai restaurant this trigger-​happy with the fish sauce. Last time I ordered the Tom Yum and before they even placed the bowl on my table, I already knew I wouldn’t be drinking Tom Yum, but fish sauce. Wasn’t happy.
To avoid my previous folly, I ordered the curry recently. Shouldn’t go wrong, right? Wrong. This too smelled like fish sauce before I could even bring the spoon close to my mouth, and, again, I had already decided I didn’t like it. When I ate the curry, I felt like it was heavily tainted with fish/​seafood remnants, and it just overall smelled unpleasant. I’m not a foreigner to fish sauce, and I definitely believe that, in the right proportions, fish sauce can definitely be an asset to food.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be returning for anything other than the pad see ew… the only thing I feel safe ordering after two overly fish-​saucy debacles.

Decent Thai place in Westwood, better than Noodle World for sure. Came here for a class dinner and so we were able to try a variety of dishes from the menu including the Chef’s special chicken, fried rice, mint chicken, green curry with fish, Musman curry with beef, garlic chicken, pad thai, and pad see ew. Tasted like your standard dishes from an average Thai place, spices didn’t stand out, quality of meats weren’t super fresh, but the place was clean, service was friendly, and dishes came out quickly.
My favorite had to be the green curry with fish (
). Definitely interesting considering I really never had fish with curry before and the dish was quite good. A little bland in the spicy department but you can add your own chili to it from the condiment carousel until it is to your liking. The fish was flaky and succulent. The herbs in the green curry really gave it an earthy flavor.
BUT, my absolute favorite dish from the entire meal was actually the ice cream they gave us at the end. I ordered the coconut ice cream (
) and for some reason this tasted heavenly to me. The cashew they put on top somehow made the ice cream even better. I mean it’s a fricking cashew! How much of a difference could it make? Uhh, apparently a lot! But yeah this place is the only decent Thai place in Westwood and that’s really what? Out of two places? So not that much of a consolation but hey, unless you wanna make the drive to Thai Town, this should satisfy your Thai craving.

Great service, tidy little location (a few years old, but holds up well), lunch is decently priced.
But the food. oh my goodness… it’s not really Thai, it’s not really Chinese, it’s definitely not Japanese… I don’t know what it is. The garlic pepper pork tasted neither of garlic, nor of pepper, nor of pork. I think MSG was the main taste, or maybe just salt. The fried rice was just rice darked with a bit of soy sauce and maybe a vegetable or two, and the salad, while actually kinda-​okay-​sorta, still wasn’t much of a salad.
I used to love this place ten years ago, but either I was a lot less picky when I was a youngin’ or this place has gotten a lot worse…

Thai House has got to be a Chinese restaurant masquerading as Thai food, because this was an awful lunch. I don’t take any joy in rating below 3 stars, but the truth needs to be told. I got the pad thai (safe choice, right?) for lunch. The sauce was so watery that it didn’t cilng to the noodles at all. Also, the fried rice that it came with had a very dark, soy sauce color. The salad didn’t even come with a peanut dressing — it was more like a watery ranch. And lastly, the soup was just tofu slices in a base that reminds you of hot & sour soup. Just change the signage and admit you’re a Chinese restaurant!
I had to get a Diddy Reese cookie on my way home, this food was so bad. Someone please open a branch of Saladang in Westwood!

WHAT?! this place has been opened since 1988 BUT after passing by for nearly 4 years, i only just noticed its presence right across the street from the Whole Foods market!
the décor reaches for fine dining w/​the white table cloths but the prices are AROUND your typical thai place, though the portions may be a tad smaller
the food is NOT BAD, but nothing memorable. I do have to say that the broccoli in my Lard Nah (flat pan fried noodles w/​broccoli in gravy) was BITTER, which must mean it has been sitting to long or. overcooked perhaps?
Love that they were easily able to accommodate our reservation of 24 ppl on a friday night though! HOWEVER if you come with a large group, they don’t let you split the bill with a bunch of credit cards (only a few) so if you have a large group, bring cash!

They did a big flyer bomb of our apt complex, so we figured we would give it a try… Ordered their chicken pad see yew, and an order of their pineapple chicken. The first warning should have been when they called back and they said that they had run out of the regular noodles, and would we be ok with the thinner ones… It was late so we gave it a chance. Of course the second warning, which is the usually obvious one, is that it’s close to UCLA, which pretty much means the food isn’t going to be that great… kinda average/​normal at best, but not much beyond…
When we got our pad see yew, no amount of hunger could have made it tasty. The noodles were TOUGH! Both my wife and I tried to look past it with everything else, but it really just didn’t work… While it’s a bit of a drive, and out of the area, Thai Boom on Venice is WAY better. Next time we’ll know better, and just make the drive for better food…
