The Bar Method

I love Bar Method, but I love instructor Nick even more! His teaching style makes the class fly by! Plus, you can’t cheat with him because he knows everyone’s name in the class and offers adjustments at all times, which I love. I always feel stronger afterwards and I particularly love how Nick ends his class with sort of a mini-​meditation as if we were at the end of yoga practice. It sets a good vibe as you carry on with your day and I always look forward to what he’s going to share by the time class ends.
Good tunes, good workout and just an overall good time. Highly recommend this studio and especially Nick!

I’ve been coming here 3 – 5 times a week for three weeks, and I really like this place. It’s clean and well-AC’ed, the staff is friendly and professional. They have a wonderful facility including the shower, which is a huge plus for me. The workout is great and effective.
My only small suggestions would be regarding their front desk staff. Maybe I’m a stickler for service, but they seem a bit snobby to me, and that’s why I give this place 4 stars.

This was my first barre class, and I honestly thought it would be easy. All these photos of ladies with their curled hair and smiles and no sweat. What a lie! This class was incredibly difficult, but in a good way! I was cursing the teacher under my breath and I probably annoyed the lady next to me with all my quiet profanity (Sorry, lady!!), but it was all worth it. I worked really hard and broke a good sweat and I seriously cannot wait to go back. I have been twice now and I’m addicted. I have ClassPass so can’t go to this studio all the time, but I would if I could.
My first teacher was Anna and I couldn’t believe she knew EVERYONE’s name in the room. Usually I HATE being called out in class, but for every time Anna corrected you by name, she also complimented you by name. I was never embarrassed because even the people more advanced and stronger than me were struggling. Everyone was doing the moves at their own level and for someone who USED to be the strongest person in the room, I was not embarrassed to be struggling at the lower level. I am on my own journey of improvement and I feel like everyone there was on their own journey and didn’t worry about competing with anyone else. I LOVE IT.
This studio is also much nicer than I thought it would be! The bathroom was fully stocked with tampons and mouthwash and anything else you could need. I haven’t used the showers there yet, but I heard the front desk lady tell another person that the showers are fully stocked with shampoo conditioner, body wash, towels, etc. There was tea and water provided in the front lobby, and I got a free container of bath salts after my first class! the lockers are convenient and clean and I love how you can lock them (as opposed to open cubbies) and take the key into the class with you to be put onto a special rack of hooks just for the keys. Overall, I will be back as often as my ClassPass lets me be. Barre Method: doing it right.
P. S. To those who are complaining about the studio only offering metered street parking: You live in Los Angeles. If there is parking AT ALL, you better consider yourself lucky. Deal with it and pay the $ 2 at the meter.

Excellent instructors for the most part that take great pains to introduce themselves to new people, remember everyone’s name, and to assist and encourage all perfect technique and maximize strength building and calorie burning! the facilities are top notch. The clean socks! The sweat towels! The studios! Water! Just about every employee that I’ve met has been friendly and helpful — just wonderful people. I especially love the challenges — whether it be Bar Method Bingo, or Star Charts, etc. It’s fun and a great way to excite us to push ourselves to do more. It’s a community — it becomes a positive obsession! Just love it.

Incredible. Hands down the best bar workout anywhere. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. There is zero intimidation, the instructors help you through every sequence, ensuring you’re in the perfect position for the best results. Rebecca is just amazing! Love classes with her. Every class is as challenging as you make it but I can guarantee you will be shaking and sweating — it’s the ultimate 60 minute full body workout! Highly recommend trying it out! It will not disappoint.

I’ve been a member for almost a year and I make sure to go at least 6 days a week!!! I’ve never felt so welcomed before and the staff are so kind and energetic. They have classes all day long which is a HUGE plus and no two classes are the same. The teachers are always paying close attention to your form and they’re quick to modify certain exercises if needed. I’m addicted to this place.
Another perk: MY BUTT. It’s never looked this good before.

I love this studio! They provide excellent customer service. Today I had an issue getting to my class on time, but they were extremely accommodating and understanding. I truly appreciated it because I was already so stressed out with the parking situation.
As for the workout I really feel like I accomplish something within that hour because my body is so sore afterwards, but in a good way. The instructors coach you very well so that you make the most of your workout.
I also like how this studio is tied to the West LA one because I work about 10 minutes away from it. Instead of having to fight traffic at 4pm to get to WeHO, I just take a 10 minute drive to West LA and I can get my work out there.
Many upsides to having purchased classes at Bar Method. The only stressful part is the parking situation, which obviously is not the studios fault, but just as a tip for future new students like myself get there as early as possible and to avoid looking just park at the Beverly Connection lot.

Love this place! Customer service is great but the main reason I love this studio is the workout. You don’t really break a sweat but you really feel all the tiny muscles BURN. Also, the instructors are really big on form and adjustments. I personally like Amalia.

Great staff; great treachers; great workout! I’ve been going for years and the quality of the staff and workouts has been consistent.

I’ve been to most, if not all of the main barre classes in LA and this is my favourite. The front desk staff are very polite and the teachers are always friendly and push you in a positive way.
There are two studios so there is always a time slot to fit your schedule and the workout itself is varied but tough and a nice combination of toning, stretching and strength building.
Parking isn’t so bad if you check out the side streets and don’t mind walking for a few minutes.

Okay, I’m a sucker for a great first impressions and overall awesome hospitality. I loved my class with Casey this morning and thought the workout was challenging and perfect for a 7 AM class.
PROS:
— Convenient 3^rd St location
— Awesome staff, encouraging instructor
— Spacious studio
— Private bathrooms, one shower, changing room
— Socks and towels to borrow if needed
CONS:
— Parking :(Meters available in front for two hours, starting at 8 AM — $ 1 per hour or free street parking south of 3^rd Street for two hours from 8 – 6 PM
— Larger class size (7 AM class was a little crowded)
— No sweat (This could also be a good thing, depending on what you’re looking for, but coming from Xtend Barre I was thinking it would be a little more sweaty)
— A bit slow in pace.

It was my first time to this studio. This studio is a lot smaller comparing to the studio in Pasadena, and also more people taking this class. It does feel a little over crowded. Nonetheless, I had a really good work out and I really like my instructor, Marlene. I’d go back to take her class.

I have taken two bar classes here through class pass and they are so accommodating, amazing instructors, and great workout!
I am so absent minded and wore shorts and forgot socks and they had new pants and socks for me to borrow so I wouldn’t miss my class.
My favorite bar studio in LA!

Went here on Class Pass. Such a cool place. The instructor was super chill and supportive and definitely knew her stuff. As a new person its important for me to get my butt kicked and at the same get the attention I need from someone who is skilled. Bar Method checked all the boxes. It was a WORKOUT! I was so sore and so happy afterwards. Felt stronger.
The location is clean, relaxing and made for working out. The ladies in my class were nice. I never felt like a doof, although I probably looked like one. Will definitely go back

A love letter to the Bar Method of Los Angeles:
I am strong because I need help. I am flexible because I am open. I am energized because of the love I receive.
This August will be my five year anniversary of changing my life for the better with the Bar Method. I started this workout while out of town in New York City. I walked into the studio in SoHo and took my first class with an instructor named Robyn.
I left the room feeling exhilerated and knew that this was a feeling I had been missing in my life. Not only did I feel my body transformed from exercise but I felt beautiful on the inside. I signed up for the new client special and I was hooked.
I returned to LA happy to know that there was a studio in West Hollywood where I could continue my discovery. The level of teaching was matched and I started to get to know the teachers and other students who attended.
As I have continued to learn and grow as a Bar Method student, I have also had great personal growth. The Bar Method is truly a mind body connection that strengthens your muscles and your heart. The group of women and men here are nothing short of pioneers and warriors. This might sound dramatic because that is exactly what it is. My body is so strong because I could not do this myself. I need the teachers who have become my personal trainers and personal heroes. I need the other students there in class with me who work hard and breathe loud and go lower and shake mightier.
We are fighters and lovers. We are builders and designers. We are weak and strong.
The matriarch here in Los Angeles is Mimi Fleischman who has the sweetest smile imaginable and not only owns the studios but continues to teach and take classes. She is an inspiration because she believes what we all believe — that this is a lifelong commitment. A marriage to your core.
If I ever thought it might get easier I was proven wrong time and time again. The Bar Method is a fantastic workout regimen but it must not be put lightly that the teachers here in LA and New York bring it to another level. There is a flow and passion that they exude that is not always apparent in other studios.
I am not here to put down other barre classes but make no mistake, this is the original and the best. The Coca Cola of bar workouts. The real thing baby. If you are currently taking classes elsewhere I encourage you to try one Bar Method workout. You will notice not only do you feel incredible and work so hard that you think you can’t keep going (but you do) — the instruction is so specific and set up with attention to every minute detail of what your body is doing and WHY you are doing it. The amount of studying and hard work that goes into being a Bar Method teacher is the reason why it is so effective. This is evident not just in the set up but throughout each exercise. The teacher not only explains everything to-​a-​T but will come around the room and adjust you and offer helpful specific ways to more deeply target the muscle you are currently working. You might be thinking you have it right and she or he will gently adjust you into the deepest shaking and gripping position. This is so important to know — there is no way you can take a class and get it «wrong»!
For a long time student like myself, I also love that Bar Method workouts continue to grow and evolve. They are like a living thing! The mixed level class is always a challenge however there is the more difficult Level 2 class and now the newest incarnation — Bar Move. A faster paced cardio intense class that incorporates the same exercises we know and love but «out of order» so that you don’t know what to expect. There is so much going on in the same amount of time as any other Bar Method class & it is really cool to see how much you can accomplish and how hard you can work.
So go ahead. Walk in the door and come alive. Bring out your inner ballerina and also your inner Olympic athlete. Breathe a lot, hold your head high, align your spine and align your spirit. Become a Bar Method student and a student of life.

I had a great first experience! Kym Hoy was my teacher and she was very good about being kind while I was doing everything wrong and helping me get things right! It was very difficult but I felt great afterward!
I had a hard time finding somewhere to park though!

The workouts are impeccable. But I also really love that you provide socks and hair ties, beverages, and showers and towels. Plus the personalities are just awesome as well. I like that every season has different exercisers but are always EXTREMELY challenging!

I absolutely love the way you make each client feel like an individual. Starting by knowing our name! Always friendly, intelligent and full of common sense, which is in short supply these days!

Bleh. Most of the days, I have to drag myself to the gym because I do not like working out. I always say that if I did not LOVE chocolate so much, I would never work out. I was taking yoga, but I wanted to up my workout a little more, so I got a Groupon to the Bar Method for an unlimited month. The location is near Beverly Connection and the Beverly Center and it is pretty small (2 classes). Make sure to bring socks because you will need to wear socks in the room. They also have a small cubby to put your keys, wallet, etc. in the classroom. I have to say this was a great workout. Even though, it’s small movements, the instructors make sure that you workout every part of your body. The instructors here were also very nice. The classes are usually pretty small (about 20 people max) so the instructors make sure to remember your name. (Although, one instructor called out to me «Jane, don’t you want to try this?» when all I wanted to do was curl into a ball. LOL). They also try to make sure you have good form and to make sure you are doing it properly. My favorite instructors were Jenna, Kym, and Anna. They were really nice and very helpful.
Be careful after the class! There is a large set of steps to get to the class and after class once you have worked everything out, your legs will feel like jelly as you try to walk down the stairs. Also, make sure to download the app unto your phone, it makes signing up and cancelling class very easy. (If you are cancelling class, you must cancel class at least a few hours before class. I believe it is 4 hours for regular class or 8 hours for morning. If you do not, they either charge you $ 5 if you have the unlimited package or charge you a class if you do not have the unlimited package).
The only downside to this location is the parking. Trying to find parking can be miserable here especially during peak time. There is sometimes street parking near the studio. If you cannot find street parking, you can park at Beverly Connection and walk over. However, we tried to go to a class on a Wednesday night once and the street parking was full and for some reason Beverly Connection had closed off their parking. So, I suggest if you are planning on going when there are lots of cars, make sure to get there a little early in case you cannot find parking.

I use ClassPass so I go to a LOT of different barre studios around town. Bar Method is by far my favorite — clean, friendly, intense (but great at providing modifications). I go as often as I can (well, up to three times in 4 weeks because of ClassPass, which forces me to go to other barre places throughout the month). But I really recommend and love these classes the most.

I got a groupon for an unlimited month of bar method and it has been about 3 weeks since I first started.
Beginning of class, you start out with 2lb and 3lb weights and at first, I thought to myself, «what a joke». Boy was I wrong. The small movements you make with those weights gives you a killer workout. I still need to stop in between reps because it kills my arms.
And then comes the legs… I have never seen my legs JIGGLE so much! It’s painful going through it but you definitely notice a difference afterwards.
It’s a tough workout no matter how many times you go.
I’m not sure what the normal prices are but the groupon deal is definitely worth it.
The only downside is that there is no parking and it can be a pain in the butt at times.

Just got out of a community class with Rebecca and WOW!!!
Found out the WeHo|West LA studio has the highest concentration of master teachers in the country. And it shows with the quality of teachers and teachers-​in-​training. Honestly, I’ve been to plenty of BM classes around the country, and Rebecca is among the best I’ve experienced. She is a stickler on form, which I love, and she can count!!! Believe, counting is a skill. Personality up the wazoo! Love her. Great job, Mimi.

I figured since I have a small background in ballet. .. «this is gonna be cake».
Oh, My Lordy it wasn’t! It totally kicked my butt, my legs and my cardio. Geesh, this is no mansy pansy stretching class. This is a hope you didn’t drive, cause after you finish, you’ll be spent kind of class.
Now make no mistake, I run, I workout and I jujutsu a little. This class was a workout on muscle groups I didn’t know I had, let alone knew I wasn’t using. Well balanced class with experienced instructors. I’ll be back, after the hospital releases me.
Clean studio, fresh smelling (one laughs, but I’ve been to studios that were, well less than pristine looking and smelling) and friendly staff. If you haven’t been, you have no idea what you’re missing.
