The LA Fort has been the most welcoming, inspiring, and loving space I’ve ever been to. There are so many talented, harding working artists, musicians, teachers and people here who just want to create, teach, and be there for one another. The space itself has come a long way since it first opened up and it is definitely a place I want to stay involved with throughout it’s existence. Everyone should check this place out! They provide classes like yoga, workshops, craft nights, and open mics like the Women’s poetry group. Not to mention their fun events and art shows. I recommend everyone to visit and hang at the LA Fort, maybe even get involved!

What a friendly place! I’ve learned so much and felt so welcome. People here are so willing to teach and learn new things.

The L.A. Fort is a newly opened«Do-It-Together»(DIT) cultural space that has opened up in the south of Downtown featuring great bands and art. I believe the DIT aspect is a matter of building a community that aims to support«the cause». I don’t know any of the owners personally, but I’ve seen some great bands perform there live so far and I’m sure there are more to come. The vibe is very friendly. The shows are usually all ages(a la Pehrspace and the Smell). The bands run from local chiefs to lesser knowns, but you can find great headliners. They usually ask for a $ 5 donation. It’s spacious, with couches to sit on, and the sound is up there with other all ages venues(Pehrspace recently upgraded their system to a similar quality). It’s definitely a welcome addition to the music/performing arts/cultural scene in Los Angeles! I can’t wait until they finish renovating the upstairs so there is even more space to work with. It seems like they’re working on it still. There’s ample parking on the street and it’s pretty much BYOB.
