Meet the Business Owner

Tim M.

Business Owner

Tim Mars is a stand-up comedian and musician who decided to open a new venue in the increasingly popular downtown LA area. With a limited budget of just a couple thousand dollars he got the keys to the real estate in June of 2010. He then worked for nearly three years filing applications for permits with the city. In February of 2013 the doors finally opened. A & E’s «Barter Kings» featured Tim in an episode where, prior to construction and opening, Tim tried to trade a freezer for a classic Budweiser «Great Kings of Africa» sign. After Steve McHugh asked if he had something else, Tim reluctantly traded a «Nippon Gakki» Yamaha acoustic guitar for the sign. The sign is in the bar today, and the freezer has been converted into a beer cooler.
