Truly a great dentist! I found Dr. Shahen when searching for a local biological dentist that I could see myself, as well as refer clients to who are looking for a more holistic approach to dentistry and mercury-​filling removals. I am so happy to have found him his lovely team! They are very professional, very caring, and excellent at what they do. Getting to know Dr. Shahen, it’s clear to me that he is a really skilled doctor that truly cares about the well-​being of his patients and the integrity of his craft. He offers all the traditional dentistry, as well as holistic options, and understands the connection between the health of the body and long-​term oral health. Thank you!

I used to be scared if going to the dentist. USED TO! going to see Dr Rostamian for my routine cleanings (and treatment) is absolutely pain free, I actually look forward to going!
I never had an excellent experience with dentist (plus ortho) so I kind of accepted the fact that going to the dentist HAD TO hurt a little, I made my peace with it. So believe me when I say I am so glad I found this place.
Since meeting Dr Rostamian, I see he is very caring of his patients comfort. He took the time to talk to me and answer my questions which put me at ease, he shared stories from USC, he plays basketball, and meditates… OOOHHHH! Here’s a kick out: he played meditation radio and we meditated to release my anxiety. WOW!

Dr. Rostamian IS honestly the best dentist around. I was referred here by my coworker. After my first visit and check up I knew that he and his team were very professional and I knew I could trust them. The location is great! enough parking in the back and if needed there is parking in the front as well. I was greeted by Mirna, the office manager in a very welcoming way. I dread going to the dentist but as soon as I stepped inside the office I felt extremely comfortable. All the equipment and tools are brand new and the entire office is sanitary and clean. Dr. Rostamian is very knowledgable and his passion for what he does reflects onto the quality of his work. He explained the condition of my teeth and how to properly care for them to avoid future problems. He is very clear and to the point with what needs to be done. During and after my two visits I did not feel any discomfort in my teeth at all. I finally can say I have had a great experience with a dentist I can trust and I will definitely be back and will recommend everyone I know to the tender dentist.

This is our first time visiting Dr Shahen for my kids. He is very personable, down to earth & so great with my kids. He really knows how to make them feel comfortable. He explains procedures in the language that they can understand. Mirna, the office manager, is great too! Super nice & professional. So glad we found The Tender Dentist!
2^nd visit: My son had to get either a fill or extraction. He was a nervous wreck the entire day (He’s had a couple of bad experiences with other dentists). So, Dr Shahen invited him to sit in his office & explained to him what he was going to do, step-​by-​step. He made my son feel at ease after speaking to him for only 5 minutes. He also encouraged him to shake off his nerves by doing jumping jacks — and he did it with him! Lol… The first novacaine shot was administered & my son cringed, but Dr Shahen assured him that is all the pain he will feel. He was right! It turned out that an extraction had to be made. After it was done, my son said «That’s it??» and had a big grin on his face! A mom couldn’t ask for a better visit to the dentist!!! Mirna remembered from our last visit that we wanted to purchase WaterPik, so she had already set one aside for us. Three hours later, Dr Shahen texted me to ask how Phoenix is doing! WOW!!! This confirms that The Tender Dentist & its staff are just simply put, AWESOME!!! Did I mention how glad we are to have found them???

Not only they were able to fit me in for an emergency on the same day, the procedure was completely pain free. This is the best dentist experience I have ever had. The name of the practice is so fitting.

I was referred here by a friend and since I was unhappy with my dentist I decided to give this office a try. When I first called the office to make an appointment Mirna, the front office girl was very friendly and accommodating. When I got there I was able to find parking for free very easily, which was great. The office itself is new, clean, and welcoming. Mirna was just as nice in person, she ensured me that my dental work would be covered by my insurance.
The X-​ray process was quick and to the point. Dr. Rostamian is awesome! He totally put me at ease and even cracked some jokes. I really like it here and will definitely be back for future dental work. Also… They are open on Saturdays! Which works well for me. Loved them!

My family started coming here after getting released from another dentist who felt the need to control our decisions regarding our health. We drive from Lancaster… and happily so, to see Dr. Rostamian. A service so personal should feel like a personal experience rather than feeling like just another mouth or a dollar amount. We feel cared for not only by the doctor, but by the staff as well. We don’t feel forced to do anything, and the experience is always carefree. Prior to coming here I had to always emphasize not wanting to be over exposed to radiation or fluoride for each appointment — for each member of the family. No more. I love that we don’t have so spend hours for every appointment, we are in and out the door in a timely manner every time. First time ever associating the dentist with positivity. I like it.

Dr shahen Rostamian DDS is such a great dentist very professional and very kind, he even comes to his office in his day off to check up my emergency case with no charge just free of charge as complimentary .his so calm and nice that i felt no panic during tooth extraction. the office is very clean with positive energy like yoga center so i highly recommend visit the Tender Dentist .if you come here, you wont choose nowhere else to take care of your teeth for sure… bahara

Dr. Rostamian is knowledgable, skilled and enjoys his craft. He’s careful to keep the patients comfortable in a pain-​free environment. He makes sure he has done a thorough job on every procedure, cleanings and fillings alike. He runs a clean clinic and his team are helpful in assisting him and his patients.

I definitely recommend this office the doctor is amazing and the staff is super friendly it feels like your in family. I know most people hate going to the dentist but I always look forward for my appointments. I always send anyone that asked me about a dentist to dr rostamian.

Shahen was recommended to me by a co-​worker. My experience with him and Mirna has nothing but less than spectacular. He is not your typical dentist that just bring in patient after patient. He takes his time and talks to each patient like family. He truly cares about his patients. When was the last time your dentist calls (texts) you to make sure that the work he did on you tooth was good and no on going issues? You will be pleasantly surprised on the little things he does, like a warm towel after the service. Very nice touch!!!

Dr. Rostamian and Mirna are an amazing team. Both are very nice and knowledgeable. My dentist visits are never painful. He always explains in a clear way what is going on with my teeth and how he will make them perfect!
Every visit I feel welcome, the office is 150% clean. If I could come to this dentist once a week I would!

I had four mercury fillings removed with Dr. Rostamian, after finding him on the Mercury Safe Dentist Removal directory. The session was absolutely pain free, with all attention paid to securing the dental dams, and all proper procedures. He even coached me on when to take a deep breath, hold it, and release to decrease the chance of mercury vapor inhalation.
It’s obvious that he cares about your pain tolerance, as he’s super intuitive and a great conversationalist. I have NEVER had a dentist talk to me about the difference between Jay Z and Tribe Called Quest style of communication, which totally put me at ease. He’s extremely knowledgable about his craft, patient and kind to his staff (a rarity– I have seen so many doctors be outright rude to the people around them), and tells great jokes. The office and bathroom are spotless, and all clients in and out were happy.
I just had to leave the Tender Dentist a great review because it’s the best dental experience I’ve ever had, after years of regular cleanings and living in 5 different cities.
Go for it.

Just left my first appointment at The Tender Dentist and I could not be happier! From the moment I walked in, I felt completely at ease. I could honestly write a novel about all the things I loved but my phone is dying so here are the 3 best things about my visit:

2) Holistic, personalized advice:
I came to TTD to get a second opinion on crowns and root canals. I went to a traditional dental office first and felt very pressured to move forward without knowing my options.
Dr. Shahen was super supportive of me asking questions and gave me great insight and answers. He was honest, informative, kind, and genuine. He helped me weigh out my options and was on the same page as me about exploring the most holistic alternatives first. He then walked me through some next steps that I could take, and did so in a very refreshing way-​no pushy sales tactics, just with a genuine desire to help (can I say genuine enough? Haha)
I feel like this team wants to PARTNER with me in my dental health :)
3) The environment: warm, inviting, clean, positive, joyful, knowledgable, welcoming and inspiring :)
The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted by smiles and a welcoming energy. Mirna (the awesome Office Manager) and Casey (the sweet Dental Tech) were warm, inviting and very helpful!
The whole space was very clean (especially the bathroom). I loved all the inspirational quotes around the office and the salt crystal lamp-​you could definitely feel that it was a very positive, healthy environment :)
At the end, I was even joking and laughing with the whole team. It felt like I had gone to see old friends instead of the Dentist!
I left feeling empowered, educated, and hopeful :)

So upset with this place. I don’t understand the good reviews at all… This dentist said I had EIGHT cavities, which was a complete LIE!!! I went here for a free first visit with dental x-​rays as my normal dentist was busy. I did not feel comfortable with this dentist at all, and the place was VERY dirty. This place was also TINY! It felt very cheap. He was a one-​man show. He’d take an x-​ray, then leave to manage the front desk, then go back to me again. What a tiny, dirty dentist office. He seemed very young and inexperienced. Two months prior to this, my regular dentist said I had two cavities. So to go from 2 to 8 in only two months!?? I was VERY suspicious. After leaving this place, I called my regular dentist, and they ironically had a cancellation for a few days from then. I called this place The Tender Dentist the next morning and asked to have my medical notes and dental x-​rays for my records, and they said it would be a $ 50 CHARGE for files to be released. This is BS as I have never had to pay money to get my records before. They said it was because my consultation and x-​rays were free, but that is SUCH bad business of them to hold my records hostage!!! The moral of the story is: DO NOT GO HERE! I did not trust this place one bit!
What’s even MORE frustrating and annoying is that I went to my regular dentist and it turns out I only had three cavities! My regular dentist said the rest of the teeth this other «dentist» marked as cavities were just STAINS on my teeth!!! The bad guy was going to charge me $ 1200 for 8 cavities when I didn’t even have 8 cavities!!! He was just trying to make money off of my clearly. He was pushing me to get it done that day, and I felt really pressured. Very shady and unprofessional.

Sometimes when you see only raving reviews on Unilocal,and not too many reviews (yet), it seems like the reviewers are most likely personal friends or family. I took a chance on The Tender Dentist because the location was great, and, in all honestly, Gentle Dental wouldn’t return my calls (they were recommended to me by friends). So I went on Unilocal,found The Tender Dentist, called, and things have been amazing from there on. Dr. Rostamian’s assistant, Mirna, went above and beyond to check with my insurance company about coverage, and schedule a checkup at a convenient time. Upon arrival, the vibe at the practice was relaxed and friendly. I filled out some forms, and my checkup started. Dr. Rostamian first sat down and explained that he will talk me through every step and his first priority is that I am 100% comfortable and that there is complete trust. I’m not particularly scared of going to a dentist, but this was reassuring. Especially because I knew I had at least 2 cavities. My old dentist on the East Coast had found those 6 months ago, but I had not had a chance to get them filled because of my move West. So now was the time. Dr. Rostamian indeed found those cavities, as well as another one, right around an old silver filling that was due to be replaced anyway. He suggested we get it done right away. I was all for it, since this way there was no way I could build up any dread or excuses. Mira was phenomenal in prepping me and the room, and even asked me what kind of music I would like to hear while they work on me. We ended up doing 2 of the 3 fillings (left top and left bottom), and Dr. Rostamian suggested we do the 3^rd on (right bottom) a week later, so I wouldn’t have a numb face on both sides for half a day. The entire process was 100% painless. I truly don’t recall fillings being this easy. I didn’t feel a thing. A week later I went back for the other filling, which was an equally smooth process. I’m totally excited to have found a dentist who’s very personable, truly «Tender», and seems totally trustworthy. Both as far as when he’s working on your teeth with sharp tools, and as far as not creating fake things to fix just to rack up a bill (which has happened to me in the past). I’m sticking around! Take your kids here!

This is the best dentist I’ve ever been to. It’s not like the regular impersonal experience. From the first phone call to when I left the office I felt comfortable and welcomed.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a dentist and so I was ready for worst case scenerios, but to my surprise, Dr. Rostamian broke down the few things I needed and made it very simple to understand. The quality of a more personal dentist is pretty important. Something I never really considered until going here. So glad I did.
He was very gentle and nice. I experienced no pain and it was really quick, but didn’t feel rushed at all. Two things that matter when you’re at the dentist!!! ;) Thanks.
Mirna, the office manager and assistant is top notch. Polite, helpful, patient and an all around fun person to deal with. I got a cleaning, some whitening and was recommended and advised on a couple of procedures I need and have been putting off.
I’ve never felt that comfortable at a dentist appointment. I’m really glad to have found them because, now, I have a dentist and am looking forward, yeah, I really said that, to getting my other work done here and keeping my regular maintenance up here as well.

Why does it always feel like I’m visiting the oral version of a mechanic when I go to the dentist?

Do I? Really? Really-​really? I mean… really?
And I love a fancy, state-​of-​the-​art office more than the next person, but sometimes, it feels like the racked-​up charges go to funding the dentist’s overhead, rather than the supposed «required» procedures themselves.
This is what I like best about Dr. Shahen Rostamian: no upselling, no fool’s errand tactics, no unnecessary tire inflations — wait, no, wrong metaphor. The no-​frills place is essentially a one-​man operation. He truly puts all of his energies into his practice, and it shows.
Another thing: I’m not one to buy self-​assessed titles, but this one actually holds true: he *is* the «tender dentist.» Nary a whiny child (or pouty adult, myself included) exited the premises. Not only that, but his holistic approaches to dentistry make me far more comfortable than using other invasive methods. It doesn’t hurt (no pun intended) that he’s also a huge Star Trek nerd who’ll prattle on about his awesome travels.
I’m not too excited to part with my funds when it comes to dental procedures, but this guy makes it entirely worthwhile.
