The Village Salon On Spring

I stumbled upon this place yesterday and decided to go in for a simple manicure. The lady that did my nails was on her phone the ENTIRE time. I was getting so upset but decided to just play it cool. The manicure took about an hour, which is ridiculous. Then when I asked her if I could use a fan or one of those LED lamps to dry my nails (which she had two of them right next to her), she took out a piece of paper from her desk and started drying them herself. I asked her again if I could use the lamp, and she simply ignored me. She fanned my nails for about 2 minutes, then said «you could go now». My nails weren’t even dry! I just walked out anyways because I was so annoyed with the whole service. Walked to Cvs and immediately my manicure was ruined. Thought of going back that day to either get them fixed or ask for my money back, but I decided to just write a review. It was also one of the dirtest, if not the dirtest, nail salon I’ve ever been to. Grossed me out just sitting in the chair. There’s so many better nail places in DTLA. Don’t bother with this one! Trust me.

I’ve been coming several times to get my eyebrows waxed and it has been great! BUT today I got service from Ana and she left my eyebrows uneven and thinner than what I asked for. I’m coming back but asking for someone else.

Love my hair! LUIS the stylist is amazing! It’s so hard to find stylist that work on dreaded hair! They came out wonderfully!

This is my second time getting a refill from Nikki and she’s been a perfectionist each time. Staff is friendly and helpful. I come here when I am downtown and can’t go to my usual nail place in Hollywood. I’ll call it my home salon away from my home salon

FYI, I came here once before and did not have a great experience, but since I live so close, I decided to give it another try today just to make sure the last time wasn’t just a bad day for them.
Quick notes:
— They are incredibly SLOW. Do NOT come here if you have a schedule to adhere to. I asked if we could finish a regular mani/​pedi in an hour, the nail tech said yes. Just over an hour and a half later, I was BARELY getting out.
— It’s expensive. I had paid $ 55 for a regular mani/​pedi — meaning just regular ol’ polish … no gel, nor did I ask her to paint the Taj Mahal across my nails. She told me AFTER I asked why it was so much that they charge $ 5 to take off gel polish (been to so many salons, never heard of this before. I didn’t realize acetone costs you $ 5, where they do dat at?) and an extra $ 10 to do french tips on the pedi (normal at other salons too, but would’ve been nice to know beforehand).
— Their tools are not clean. They all sit in a little drawer and get wiped off with a towel at most. I’m used to going to places (that are actually cheaper) where the nail techs open new sealed/​sanitized tools for each client.
— Their nail polish color selection is pretty limited for a nail salon.
— They just are overall not professional. I was the only customer in the salon, with one nail tech working on my nails and the other just chillin out in the open. When a second customer came in, I saw the other nail tech visibly wipe her nose (I’m talking about WIPING like she was a CSI agent trying to recover fingerprints) and then proceed to touch the customer’s feet for her pedi. I had to look away before I nearly passed out from OCD overload.
— Both my first and second time here were stressful. First was because I was there for more than 2 hours (gel mani + regular pedi) which was ridiculous, I had places to be and had to keep rushing. Second time, the lady spilled acetone on my thigh, then pulled the towel from under my chair to wipe it off, then haphazardly put it back and it ended up sliding into the water basin where I had my feet.
— There are noticeable imperfections on my nails every (i.e. uneven-​ness, none of the shapes match, overall just the «looks like I could have done it at home» vibe, etc.) that I don’t get elsewhere.
Look, I have no problem paying $ 55 for a mani/​pedi if the experience is awesome /​calming /​great quality, but as close as this place is to where I live, I’d still rather drive to any of the salons on Melrose Ave and they will do a better, faster job for a fraction of the price. Plus the other salons won’t stress me out and would probably offer me a complimentary beverage.
Just saying.

This has got to be the same people (or relatives) with a different name. Not only did they keep the same furniture and equipment from Housangs (sp?) they have not wiped down the nail salon chairs since acquiring the place. Seriously. The place is so dirty and disgusting. Like the old place, I was the only one in there getting a pedicure and the staff cannot have gotten their licenses. If they did, it was like 2 months ago. I left with the sloppiest paint job that I could have done myself. And it took FOREVER. Do yourself a favor — avoid this place like the plague. The last owner had a jewelry joint on Broadway, this new group has to be used car salesmen. And it’s way more expensive than anywhere else in the area. (Lt Tokyo, Historic Core)

I won’t be returning here and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!
I was in desperate need of a mani/​pedi on my lunch hour at work and so I opted to try this spot out.
While my nail lady herself did a good job, the salon has A LOT of improvement. This includes their professionalism! There were two other employees with apparently not much else to do but gossip about their personal lives. Clients come to relax and have an experience at your salon not to have you chatting loudly and inappropriately.
Moreover, their take out lunch containers were ALL over the place! The place a lot of potential if employees were encouraged to keep personal items in a place out of sight. The total cost of my visit was $ 65 plus tip, and I’m happy to pay it if I feel like as a client I was treated as valued.

So wonderfully unprofessional. Though I had a *good* time chatting with the young women (who tag-​teamed my medi/​pedi) it took 3+ tedious hours. The «deluxe massage» was lackadaisical at best and I still have some residue from the scrub on ma legs. Whether that’s because I need to shave or not is open to suggestion.
When the gals began talking about their personal lives to EACH OTHER (hey, I’m cool with gettin gritty and all’, so long as I’m considered on the in-​circle), about miscarriages, cheating fiancees and personal hygiene, I found myself some what on the outs…
Meeeeerp, then, I let them know that I had a slight time constraint so they hastily splashed my nails and tootsies with a paint job my 11 nephew would have taken more time and pride in.
In short, the place is fun, kinda, but so not worth the mulah… Any mulah.

So this place has changed their names oh a dozen times. For a reason.

Nikkiwas great I was very. Specific on how I wanted something done she was able to do it without complaint amazing my nails came out great

I. Love. This. Salon. I came in as a walk/​in for a mani/​pedi and decided to add an eyebrow wax because shit, it’s been a hot minute. They were able to get me in quickly. I picked my colors, which they have TONS to choose from. Nikki is fantastic. She’s a sweetheart! I asked for extra massage time, and she did a great job! My feet were wrecked from working over time haha. Not only did she do a great job on the cuticles, but it didn’t hurt at all. Additionally, my feet are ridiculously ticklish and she was able to scrub those puppies without me even utteringa giggle. Great job girl! The nails turned out great! I’ll definitely be back and recommend to everyone!
Eyebrows– it was fine. Usually I’m a thread type, but this was great. Quick, and mildly painless.
There were other services going down, and the nail art I saw was incredible!
It’s a great vibe here, it’s fun yet very relaxing.
Treat yo’ self!
A few quick notes.
–Parking is a bit nutty. I recommend getting lunch or coffee or something and making the most of it. There are shops and restaurants/​bars everywhere down here.
–Fantastic, friendly and upbeat staff
–Check in and get the free bottle of hydrating nail optimizer!!!

These girls know how to take care of a lady. A family of artists, dedicated to their craft and their clients. These women are top shelf and full of fun. Fall in love with the owner, and her team. very well priced. Thank you for you endless effort to make my nails perfect! «my private jet» has a great story.

OMG!!! I’m in love with the salon and my new nail girl. I passed the salon everyday on my way home and never have time to stop in but today I made sometime. I got all my errands done so I thought why not let’s give it a try. I walked in on the best day ever gel manicure and pedicure for $ 40 I usually pay $ 75 for both. Had to get it. The salon was very clean it felt very peaceful and relaxing. The manager was friendly greeted me very energetic asked me if I needed help picking out my color as a girl we all done lol. They have so many polishes to choose from. They offered me wine, champagne, or water wine! please. The girl who did my nails was so friendly and very talkative I loved that. She asked how I liked my pedicure water she got it perfectly love it. She did an amazing job on my wolf feet lol made them look like princess feet. My manicure was amazing as well she cut all my cuticles off. Other places don’t cut it all off but she awesome I love her and she polished my nails perfectly. I’m definitely going back there every Wednesday that I can and asking for her again.
They also do hair and organic spray tanning. OMG! For sure I’m getting my hair and tanning done for Christmas. I LOVE this place. Sian, Perla and staff are the best thanks for an awesome experience.

Today I decided to cut my hair and give it a shot in this full service salon.
Well you get what you pay for pretty much LOW QUALITY service.
The girl using the comb to separate and cut my hair kept repeatedly scratching my scalp, ears, and neck from putting too much pressure. My hair is short I did not even have it tangled. My hair is very well cared for, I only use Pureology products.
After I had enough of it, I told her hey your are continuously scratching my entire head? I’ve never felt this continuous pain of just being scratch. She totally did not care to once consider the well being!
She gives me the most lame, UNPROFESSIONAL, immature answer its not me, its the «comb.» I was totally disgusted by her response it makes you QUESTION. Who is the person responsible for controlling that comb? The comb is not going to function without you moving it. Where is her LOGIC? Obviously she must of thought she was still practicing in DOLL head or something.
I STILL decided to tip her $ 5 I felt pity, she will be suffering pretty soon when more clients continue to write Unilocal reviews.
Please hire people who have more EXPERIENCE charge higher, but give an excellent SERVICE people do care!
Clients should not have to endure through such a disgusting experience.

For a $ 24 Tuesday Spa Special I received; no nail buffing, no cuticle trim or treatment, uneven nails, and polish all over my skin. I’m shocked at the positive reviews this establishment has received. I will never be returning here. Nail Parlor down the street isn’t amazing, but it’s miles better than this place.

Under new management horrible service

This is a wonderful new nail salon that recently replaced another nail business that used to be in the same location. I went in for my first time for a pedicure and coffin shaped acrylic nails, and had such a great experience! I live in the neighborhood and am so happy when I genuinely enjoy a local biz.
+ They’re open on Mondays!
+ I came in 30 minutes before closing and they were so kind to still accommodate me and stay past closing, without rushing my nails or making me feel like an inconvenience.
+ They offer you complimentary champagne & red wine (and a massage chair with rose petals in the pedicure soak!)
+ The owner is so welcoming and friendly. She was my favorite part of the experience. She gave me a bottle of hydrating polish on the house (!!) and seems to really care about her customers’ experience at her salon.
+ I’m OCD about cleanliness at a nail salon and didn’t have to be paranoid here of getting an infection or anything.
+ My nails look dope.
I’ll definitely be back! Will try their air brushed organic spray tans that supposedly don’t smell like self tanner.

Of course me and my nail salons! so it was my first time here since new ownership and I just had to try it, that and every other nails salon in close proximity was too crowded with no time for two full sets :(so I went here the color selection is PERFECT so many colors and so many different polish companies to choose from which are all perfectly organized and sorted by color I really liked that. the girl doing my nails was sweet she did a good job but she took FOR-​EV-​ER. She didn’t use a drill and filled every nail by hand! they say it adds more shape and feels likes she is shaping it instead of the drill but who has that much time. on both ends. I spent close to two hours probably a little more for a full set that’s crazy! all I got was a full set, short, with a tiny coffin shape to them. now a days nail salons offer water, champagne, a TV, something here was none of that just a really long sitting time. I do like the way my nails turned out and its so close to my house its almost worth it but I don’t think Ill be back. The Nail Parlor on the next block takes kind of long to but at least the nail tech and yourself with have a great conversation.

I walked in here one day because it was across the street from my boyfriends place and I was desperate. I’m always a little iffy about trying new places– especially for nails and eyebrows. Now? I refuse to go anywhere else! It would be like cheating on my boyfriend. The service is great. Very friendly staff. Always catering to any need. Complimentary wine and rose petals in your pedicure while getting a massage. Heaven! The quality of work is great. They’ve got a a very talented group of girls. It’s a girls perfect getaway. Flowers, pampering and girl talk! To top it off they offer spray tanning. This is a one stop shop ladies. The very best thing about this place TO ME– I’m a single mom and sometimes have to take my son with me. They are always so playful with him. Offer him fruit and close the door to the street to make sure he’s safe to play with his toys. I couldn’t ask for anything more

I absolutely am in love with this salon! I love a few block up and I don’t think I will ever go any where else in LA to get my toes and nails done. The manicurist and all of the staff, including the new owner are so friendly. They do a fabulous job every time and even offer a free glass of wine while getting your services done! I have had my eye brows done here as well and was totally happy after. I was worried that the service would change after new ownership but, was so happy to find out that most of the staff remains working. I am looking forward to taking advantage of all their daily specials and new spray tanning!
