Description

Specialties

A favorite lunchtime spot in the Jewelry District is now open for dinner. After being in business a little more than a year, Tulip Café has extended its hours to 9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The small mediterranean restaurant is tucked down St. Vincent Court off 7th Street and is the first in the alley to try nighttime hours.

On a recent Saturday night visit, it was easy to be reminded of a European café or a restaurant in San Francisco. The alley provided the setting for some charming outdoor seating, and owner Kacin Celik was quick to make us feel like we were dining in a friend’s home, greeting us at the door and answering any questions about the menu.

Offerings range from seafood dishes like ahi tuna and striped bass to pastas, mediterranean specials and grilled items. Entrees range from 10 — 16 dollars — most on the lower side — and portions are generous.

History

Established in 2008.

After years in the pizza business, we made our dream of owning a restaurant that served fresh, delicious food, at great prices!

Meet the Business Owner

Kacin C.

Business Owner

After immigrating from Istanbul, Turkey in 1975, Kacin bought an Orange Julius stand on 7th St. This quickly evolved to a small kitchen in the 707 building selling food just like your Armenian mama used to make. This led to a catering business and pizza stores. But Kacin yearned to have a place where people could take a rest from their busy lives, enjoy delicious food, at great prices, with superior service. In 2006, he began working on his dream and soon Tulip Café was a reality!
