OMG. My first visit was with my mom, dad, sis and brother, the day of my brother’s commencement from USC. He wanted us to try a «local» flare where he and the frat boys dined almost regularly. My mom didn’t quite know how to react… it was funny. Little restaurant, great food. Okie Burrito was large enough to serve 2 hungry mouths.

Oh Veracruz… I’ve had many great memories in this place. Of course I love the location: just a few blocks away from the University of Southern California. I went through a period when I would eat at this place frequently and it has recently dawned on me that I need to do so again! This place is totally homey! I believe it was owned by an old couple and their daughter was the waitress(a super sweet and attentive woman). About just over a year ago they closed down for a while and I was worried that was the end for good ol’ Veracruz… but it turned out they were just changing ownership. The good thing is… things only got better after the change! The decorations got a little less tacky, the old juke box is still there(full of Latin music), and so is the tv(always on the Spanish Channel). Service is just as amazing! and… The food is great! Great home cooked Mexican seafood.(the fish comes with the head still attached!) In the summer they have this great special for a bucket of beer. I must have spent two and a half hours here once just to finish the entire bucket of beer and a plate of nachos I shared with a friend. Their fish plates are amazing and so are the enchiladas and their fajitas. My all time favorite is their fish soup!!! It makes my nose water its so good!(i definitely recommend it, specially if you are sick with a cold!) I also love love love the el Pescado a la Veracruz… i get this all the time! The prices are pretty resonable. Just under $ 10. But you get really nice portions and its great service with a friendly atmosphere. There is always a table available… but it does tend to get more crowded with families during lunch on the weekend. Parking is pretty easy to find on the street.
