I was looking for a vintage Rolex for some time and Ken was helpful from the moment I walked in. He was very attentive to what I was looking for and actually showed me the exact watch I had envisioned. I wanted to take some time to think about the purchase as it was a birthday gift for myself and he advised I could email him if I wanted to put the watch on hold. After thinking about it, I emailed him right away and put the watch on hold and as soon as I was back in town it was there waiting for me. The staff was helpful with all of my needs as I needed the band shortened. Overall I had an exceptional experience and I love my watch. I would recommend Wanna Buy A Watch and would ask to speak with Ken for sure!

I have followed wannabuyawatch on instagram/​twitter for ages and finally decided I wanted to make a purchase. I inquired about a watch I saw and received a reply from Ken promptly. He was quick to answer the questions I had, only obstacle being the time difference between DC and LA. The only «issue» I ran into was the lack of communication from one of the staff. I say «issue» because I did not receive a few notifications that were quickly taken care of once I followed up so were by no means headaches or really inconveniences. I received my watch the next day (had to pay overnight shipping but that’s ok) and all was well. I received a nice email apologizing for the lack of communication which was appreciated. I did not buy a terribly expensive watch, but feel like i was treated well and no different than if I was making a major purchase. I am very picky about from who and where I will purchase watches (only 1 place in NoVa), but look forward to future purchases from WBAW.

Damn. I really wanted to like this place. If you are lucky enough to run into Ken or Christine, you’ll probably have a good experience. However, Tim comes off as a douche bag. It would be less of a big deal to me had he downplayed the fact that he knows relatively little about vintage Rolex; but his condescending attitude and incorrect guidance really turned me off. Bottom line: he knows how to sell you a vintage Rolex if you don’t know shit about vintage Rolex. Do your research before coming here.

A vintage mom-​and-​pop shop that will lure you in based on false statements for repairs on vintage Rolex watches.
Called and asked what an estimate would be and the woman on the phone said very kindly, «I have not seen an estimate on a watch for repair go past $ 700. Ever.»
So, taking her word for it, I went in and met with a nice gentlemen who analyzed my watch. He gave me a price of $ 600 to fully repair the watch, which was an amazing price compared to the $ 1450 estimate from Rolex BH.
I gave him a detailed list of what Rolex of BH has to fix in order to fully repair it. We went through it, step-​by-​step, and he told me, «Oh, they’re gonna charge you for stuff you do not need on the watch, we only replace what you need done.»
Mind you, in black and white, everything that needed to be done was stated thoroughly, and in which he gave me the $ 600 quote.
Last thing he said, «We’ll call you if there is a change to price.»
I was excited and over the moon, I was finally going to have my watch fixed!!!
Until two days later…
«Yeah, so he just came back to me (the repair guy for the watch) and said that he needs another $ 600 to repair because the movement needs to be replaced, so $ 1200 total.»
…The service quote from Rolex BH included that repair, and we discussed that prior to having his guy open my watch for examination.
Then he said something that PISSED ME OFF TO THE POINT where I couldn’t handle this phone call anymore. «Wow, you must have dropped the watch or something…»
EXCUSE ME, I HAVE NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO MY WATCH BUDDY, IF I WOULD HAVE DROPPED IT, YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN IT VISUALLY! I KNOW EXACTLY HOW AND WHEN THE WATCH STOPPED WORKING! SAVE YOUR STUPID ASSUMPTIONS FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
I then told him, I want my watch back, I’ll pick it up in two days.
Why would I spend $ 1200 to repair my watch at a nothing store that’s not authorized by Rolex… When for $ 200 more I can repair it, FULLY AND PRISTINE, at an ACTUAL Rolex Repair Center in BH, and get a two year warranty afterwards?
Lesson of the story: BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE.

Inventory is nice, but I went in with a non-​white friend of mine and the staff was very condescending to us. Wouldn’t buy from them after this experience.

I recently went into Wanna Buy a Watch? to look at their selection of engagement rings with my soon to be fiancé and fell in love with the place. Not only was the staff helpful and knowledgeable they were extremely friendly and did not treat me like I had no idea what they were talking about. We enjoyed the process so much we left with not only the perfect ring but with an amazing watch for my boyfriend. I would highly recommend coming to this place if you are looking for jewelry sold by a staff that is trustworthy and amazing.

If I could leave ZERO STARS I would. Bad does not even begin to describe my experience here. I went into the store to buy a vintage watch as a birthday gift. I gave the woman, Christine a price point and a direction and she came back with 4 watches. My girlfriends and I settled on a watch and Christine ran my card. She then went to the back and came back and informed me the watch was broken and I should pick something else out. I didn’t like anything else and now I had already been charged!!! Who charges you before making sure the watch works? She then said she could actually have it sent out to be fixed which made me happy! A week later I hadn’t heard back so I called to be told it would be ready today. It wasn’t. I called back the next day and heard the same thing. I call back AGAIN to find out the watch was broken TWO WEEKS LATER and they can NOT fix it so to come pick another watch. I go in and look at watches that Christine herself pulled saying they were all comparable to what I had already paid yet when I settled on a watch she wanted me to pay hundreds of dollars in difference! This is not how you do business!!! I told her I wanted to switch the watches or be refunded. She refunded me and barely apologized or seemed to care that I now have no gift for my boyfriend’s birthday which was already weeks ago! I would never come back here nor would I recommend it!

The man who initially sold me my cartier tank franchise for more than it was worth specifically told me that the watch «would certainly retain its value», but was only willing to buy it back from me for a third of the price less than a year later. What a manipulative man. I won’t be coming back here.

Amazing selection of vintage watches. Prices are a little on the top end as far as vintage watches go. I went into the store and looked around for about 20 – 25 minutes. Not a single person in the store spoke to me. The staff came off a little stuck up. I’m not the most wealthy person but I was wearing a 6,000 watch while I was in the store so I expected the staff to at least engage me. All and all the store, as I stated, has an amazing selection of watches.

Upon entering the shop, my girlfriend and I were very impressed with the eclectic selection in all of the jewelry but particularly the engagement rings. We immediately found «the ring» without question. I went back about a week later and Christine could not have been more amazing with helping me with the purchase! I couldn’t be happier knowing that the love of my life is going to get the ring of her dreams and I strongly encourage anyone looking to do the same to stop in and take a look because I can assure you that it will make the decision for you.

This review is many moons from when I bought a one of a kind ring here.
Christine helped me, and she knew how special this ring was, and I felt like it was a «steal.»
I love this place for so many reasons.
Mainly, they know their stuff, and they have integrity about the“goods“

I have gone to this company since 1999 and made several purchases. I always see Christine. I never feel pushed to purchase anything. She gathers plenty of information about what I’m interested in and shows me a wide variety of what interests me. It’s always a great experience and I would never go anywhere else. I trust them completely!

Christine helped out my fiancée and I pick out wedding bands. She didn’t make us feel pressured, she gave us a TON of options, she only showed us things within our budget and she was incredibly personable. She spent a long time with us, even when there were other customers. I love this woman. And we walked out of there with two bands we absolutely love. If I could give 6 stars I would.

I recently took my watch in for repairs here and while my watch is working — I’m not so sure about the quality of service.
The repairs were supposed to take about 6 weeks (it had to be sent out). Two months after dropping it off, I had yet to receive a call. I called in and lo and behold the watch was there and ready according to the computer — but oops! the woman on the phone couldn’t find it. Finally she found it and asked if I want to pay for it over the phone (without any confirmation on my end that the watch was even fixed).
I definitely would look long and hard for a different place to go in for repairs.

My husband and I are celebrating our 50^th wedding anniversary and I wanted to get him a Patek Philippe watch. After searching for a couple of months and talking a several jewelers, I selected a watch from Wanna Buy. Avi was extremely helpful in helping me to get the perfect choice. He worked with me to get everything I wanted. My husband is thrilled and it will be something to pass down in our family. Thanks Avi for your excellent service!

If you are ever in the market for a second hand watch, you must check out this place. They have a wide variety of watches and very competitive prices. I have bought several watches here and will continue to use them for future purchases.
If you are’t ready to actually make the trip to the store, check out their website. It is updated very frequently and is a great way to get an idea on pricing.

I am selling a vintage 18k gold rolex watch (early 80’s) The older woman in there said it’s worth around a $ 1000 dollars and was hostile when she asked how I knew it to be 18k. Easy to find out by looking up the watch. She said it in an accusatory manner and in a way that clearly left me with a feeling that she was trying to get the watch cheap. It’s worth $ 3,900 on the market.
She came back and said they would pay $ 800 when she initially said around $ 1000. I mentioned that and she said $ 800 is around a $ 1000! LMAO.
Definitely got a slimy feeling off of her. Do not trust the people there. Beware seller and buyer! Get other opinions.

I don’t write many reviews, just one or two a year, but I am inspired to write about WBAW.
I have been checking out watches at WBAW since the mid 90’s when I was going through a starving artist phase. I have been in their store perhaps 25 — 35 times, appreciating their fine watches. Though I love watches, the watches I wanted have always been out of reach.
My wife — by the way, loves to go as well — while I am searching watches, she loves their vintage jewelry. The other thing about my wife — she has made me a believer in comparison shopping.
I have picked up a few watches for a few hundred over the years on eBay and at antique shops, but I yearned for a fine Swiss watch, one that made me feel like I have accomplished something special. Over the past year I focused my interests on just a few watches… I learned everything there is to know about the watch and naturally knew how much the watch should cost.
After watching WBAW’s website very closely I saw the watch I had been dreaming of last week…
I ran in and started talking to Tim. TIm had been helpful in the past. The more I asked him about the watch, the more information he shared about it and compared it to other watches. I appreciated his passion for watches — I appreciated his focus on me as I had become smitten for this watch I came in to see.
They had just gotten the watch in (on a trade?) and they had to make sure it was up to their standards. He told me he would call me in 48 hours to let me know if it was alright. About 44 hour later Tim called to let me know the watch was in good condition!
I’ve never had ”extra’ money. After (literally many, many, many) years of hard work and saving, and the most wonderful wife in the world who encouraged me (and gave me a few bucks for the holidays) I ‘pulled the trigger’ and bought a very special watch. This watch makes me feel good — I think is a good investment, I know I got it for a good price and it will be an heirloom.
Tim and Ken worked the price down enough to make me feel like I was getting a good deal and for that I am forever grateful. Although the watch was on the lower end of the cost scale compared to WBAW’s inventory, I feel as though they treated me like they would have a celeb or someone spending serious piles of money.
They serviced the watch and I picked up the watch at closing time! I had lots of questions and never felt like they rushed me out — which I wouldn’t have blamed them if they did. It’s the little things, isn’t it?
The atmosphere there is great, like a small town watch store but with real beautiful treasures. No pressure, no hard sale — just quality watches at reasonable prices. I can state confidently, an educated consumer is their best customer.
Unlike Ebay and other options, WBAW had a warranty on my watch — which is an important factor when purchasing a precision instrument. As noted in the beginning, I am inspired — it was a great experience — which is getting harder to find these days.

Buying an engagement ring was a bit more terrifying and daunting than I thought it would be. At the first place I went, a very fancy store in the heart of Beverly Hills, I got buzzed into the door and proudly said for the first time in my life, «I want to buy an engagement ring,» and the man said, «Okay. You need to make an appointment and come in on Monday.» It was disheartening, but I got my courage back and went to six other places that day.
My (now) fiancée didn’t want a diamond ring and she loves vintage. She wanted to make sure her ring didn’t pay for any international war (unless it was a very old war that we probably won.) Diamonds also are kind of boring she thought. They made every ring look the same from a distance. She loves color and so I thought sapphires. Some places I shopped that day had no imagination. I heard, «If it’s an engagement ring, it really needs to be diamond.» I disagreed but, then just to prove me wrong, he took my girlfriend out and proposed to her with a giant diamond ring and they’ve now been happily married for six years. (This last sentence may not have actually happened.) Other places were wonderfully helpful but as much as they tried, they just couldn’t produce the ring we all had in our heads.
And then I went to Wanna Buy A Watch (I know, I buried the lede here.) Christine was fantastic. When I didn’t quite see what I wanted, she asked some questions about my girlfriend’s style and taste. Then, from a drawer, she found a ring. It didn’t have a stone but it was exactly right. It even had an inscription from the past owner with a date of 1922. Christine found another ring, with the right stone and said, if I was 80% sure, she would take the stone out and put it in the new ring. I was more than 80% sure and the match was made.
My fiancée loves it. It was an equally painless experience getting it sized and while there, we found a matching wedding band for her. Next time I propose to someone I will go to Wanna Buy A Watch first.
