Dr. Heartfield specializes in colorectal surgery and general surgery. The conditions he treats include hemorrhoids, perirectal pain and bleeding, colon and rectal cancer, intestinal and rectal fistulae, and bowel obstruction. Other conditions treated include problems associated with the gallbladder and stomach as well as screening and diagnostic colonoscopies. Dr. Heartfield has received specialized training in colorectal surgery from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Heartfield has extensive experience in office proctology. Many common conditions such as hemorrhoids can be treated in the office without painful surgery. Dr. Heartfield accepts most insurances.

Established in 1924.

Southern California Surgery Associates has been providing high quality, personalized surgical care in the downtown Los Angeles area since 1924. The group is composed of three partners: Drs Heartfield, Fitzgibbons and O’Donnell. Dr. Heartfield joined the group in 2003 after a general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Heartfield is on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Vincents Medical Center, and Third Street Surgery Center.
