Westmoreland Lofts

When we first moved in we had noise issues with our neighbor, who was running a recording studio. The studio had some sound proofing, but not enough, so it was far too loud for us to live there. Management (Krystle) worked with us to get us quickly moved into another unit, which we ended up liking even more. The complex is super dog friendly (our dog made lots of furry friends!) and all our neighbors were very friendly. We really enjoyed our space but we took a job out of state only six months into our lease. Luckily management was cool enough to let us out of our lease early.

This management sucks. They apparently don’t know what a telephone message is for, nor can they respond to an email. The person handling their leasing «Crystal» for Investor Property Services, is the absolute worst — over the last few months i have tried several times to get a call back, and even sent an email through the website– HA! What a joke, This girl has never responded. That is simply not how to run a business — Investor Property Services should be looking for someone more qualified to be the point of contact for their property?!

I lived at the Westmoreland Live/​Work Lofts for a year and a half (from 8÷9÷08 to 1÷31÷10) and found it to be a bittersweet experience. The actual lofts themselves are great, but sadly everything else about them is woefully sub-​par. Here’s what I got for my $ 2600 a month:
A severe roach problem. (They offered to spray my unit, but I have a dog and didn’t want old school poison sprayed everywhere. When I asked if there was a greener option available they replied «No» which was very lame on all counts.)
Security doors that broke all the time, then took weeks to fix. (When you have tenants with thousands of dollars in computer and camera equipment, this is just unacceptable.)
An ancient HD system which only allowed a literal handful of HD stations, the rest all being standard def. (It’s the only option available.)
Very Slow DSL (Again, the only option available. When I moved in they had a cable modem, but then discontinued that service).
The High School next door. For several hours each day, kids in their PE classes run around the building screaming, tagging cars, sidewalks, and windows, which gets tired very quickly.
Do these sound like the characteristics of a modern loft facility? To top it off, management was slow and not what you’d call active listeners. They weren’t bad people, just overworked and underpaid. If you’re thinking about renting here, arm yourself with this info and talk with the current residents, then make an informed decision.
