Excellent Chiropractors-both Dr. Matt and Dr. Webb. Add to it Dr. Matt’s wife who is an excellent Acupuncturist. Combined the three have assisted me with a lot of injuries over the years and I continue to return.

Miles Davis. Bobby Flay. Picasso. Richter. These figures, present and past have made their marks in the history books. Not by pure bravura, but by their audacity to create something new and fresh from an otherwise, stilted craft. Such was the issue when I Chiro-hopped from place to place.(oh yeah, much more fun then bar hopping– you can’t get vicodin at bars). i kid i kid. Every chiropractor was good in his or her way ofcourse, but the pain would always come back within a day or two. And for anyone out there that lives with chronic pain— you understand the stark helplessness of waking up, and living with pain. Popping the painkillers, just so you can get through the day. By pure chance, I met Dr. Matt. I had been traveling 60 miles roundtrip to a chiropractor in Pasadena, and the car ride alone was probably making me regress! While waiting for Dr. Matt in his office, you get a sense of what it might have been like in the make shift tents that protected wounded soldiers of WWI and II. There are moans and Unilocal coming from all corners. Patients are constantly calling out for the doctors there. These are people, at the end of their rope. Some are fresh out of a car accident, others– chronic pain sufferers such as myself, taking one last shot before giving into the lull of the pain meds. But one by one, they are administered to gently, by Dr. Matt and the other various doctors there. Questions are asked quietly, with empathy. There is patience when he asks the individual to take a deep breath, before the painful crack that might relieve them of the strain. «It’s ok, take a deep breath, you can do it». Sounded like more of a lamaze class at times– but patients did look relieved. And in time, the whole energy of this place shifted. From years of piano and overall bad posture, I had developed a somewhat straight neck. This puts pressure in all the surrounding muscles while causing my shoulders to go into themselves– thus creating a hunch. Dr. Matt tried various ways on how to approach my problem. Finally– he settled on a combination of Russian stem(where it stimulates the neck muscles, contracts, releases– to make them stronger), ultra sound(to break up tissue — when I massage my neck, there is a crunching, grinding sound before), and of course a combination of Gonstead and over various techniques. Of course in between there is icing, heating, etc. One great adjustment he does is with a simple towel, where he lengthens my neck. In doing this, I am then able to look up without the nerve pinching in the back, and causing me to wince. He has spent time teaching me various ways to strengthen my neck and stretch back my shoulders so that my posture, and in the long run, pain, will improve dramatically. As you can see, this is a very involved process. But like Dr. Matt said, every patient is different. You cannot treat all patients with just one approach. He improvised. And now I can actually listen to live improvising on the piano, without having to down an advil. And for this, I am continually grateful. They take insurance, and cash patient are also welcome.(about 50 buckeroos). There’s plenty of street parking, and it’s right across from Leaf( ), and Café Brasil! Now you’ve go to go… :)
