We are a church located in the county of Los Angeles that specializes in Christian ministry to people of diverse cultural backgrounds.

History

Established in 1931.

The history of our church is most interesting as our heritage actually is connected to one of the first churches in Los Angeles, which was founded in 1869. Later in 1924, our cathedral-​styled church along Wilshire Blvd. was constructed and our congregation purchased the site in 1931. On March 8, 1978, the L.A. Cultural Heritage Board declared Wilshire United Methodist Church as a cultural historical monument.

Our team has been here several times to shoot for weddings. The lighting in the church was beautiful. Not only that, but the people there were very nice. If you are going to have a wedding, I would strongly recommend you come here, because it’s amazing.

Friendly Staff and loyal members, everyone is very welcoming. Pastor Gordon is the best, he’s very sweet and down to earth. We baptized our daughter here last year and I’m so glad we did.

I’ve been to choir concerts here and this place ROCKS (in a Jesus rock kinda way, that is). Beautiful architecture, moody feeling, perfect for music immersion.

If you’re searching for a church for your wedding ceremony with 200+ guests then this church would be ideal for you. However, you might have to consider finding a bigger place for your reception lunch or dinner. If you have less than 200 guests than you’re ok on facilitating guests. The downside of having less than 200 guests for the ceremony is that the church would look empty. The inside of the church is huge.
As a professional wedding photographer, I’ve shot more than 10 weddings here at Wilshire United Methodist Church. In a photographer’s perspective, this church offers beautiful architectural backgrounds for the wedding photography. I’ve posted few pictures from the previous wedding. I hope you find them helpful. Also, the wedding coordinator named Lori Jones is in charge of all events and weddings at this church. She’s great!!! Friendly and very professional.
