Alright! So I went to this place because I had heard so much about the grub! As it turns out, I’ve been eating SOUTHERN, BLACKBBQ, since I was a child! My dad used to take me to the black church parking lot BBQ all around Lennox, Lynnwood, watts, etc! And, although I can’t complain about the price nor service, some of the MEATS, leave something to be desired! FYI, my godmother was once the MAYOROFCOMPTON! Mrs Marcine Shaw, and she never mentioned this place! Either, she was holding for herself, or it wasn’t all that! I choose to believe the latter! Beef ribs were tough, and the hot links were not so HOT! GREATPLACE, MEDIOCREGRUBB! I’d eat it on a deserted desert island, if forced to!

Highly disappointed with my rib tip dinner. It’s supposed to be hott. no taste what so ever on the sauce. I literally have just bone tips with a few strips of meat. last time I’ll get my bbq from here.

The food and the portions were good and services was fast the only thing is the sides were to small I normally don’t eat at bar-que places I like to cook my own but in all it was cool

Best ribs we’ve had in ages. Staff and clientele were friendly. Be sure to check out the reviews, articles on the wall. God bless.

Ok I’m from Houston, TX went here for the first time today. Got their homemade beef links. This was by far the worst so call Bar B Q I’ve ever eating in my Life. The sauce not only taste bad but smells worst. I will kindly bring them some Down South Bar-B-Q from BURNS… So that they can get a lesson on what Bar-B-Q is… most of all Bar-B-Q sauce… if I could give them NOSTARSTHATWOULDBETOMANY…

The best in LA period. I always go to the Slauson location. People complain about the wait, it’s not fast food it’s Real food and well worth it. It’s take-out. The Best.

Great for those who are looking for quality BBQ in South L.A. and crave a taste of tangy sauce. It’s just a quick in-and-out venue. Stand while you wait just like the other two or three locations in L.A.(Crenshaw & Slauson). Lots of people stop in for lunch(before 4pm) to catch the better meal deals. Blue collar men seem to frequent this location.

I usually go to the market St location however they were closed being that it’s Sunday so I visited this location. The older man that was working the front counter for orders and pick ups was extremely rude. If I wouldn’t of already waited 20 minutes because although they were surprisingly not crowded he moved with no sense of urgency what so ever. If you are willing to have to deal with horrible customer service and be treated as if the buisness does not care about the experience they receive when going to an establishment then go ahead but I personally will never visit this location again…

Who ever is preparing that meat they need an award!!! They need a gold medal or something because this BBQ is the best I’ve ever tasted/eaten. It reminds me of soul food but in the form of BBQ. No commercial sauces here, my favorite would have to be the mild with a splash of spicy. The chicken is prep to perfection no fat or left over skin it’s cooked to perfection. The beef melts in your mouth again no extra fat hanging. The ribs beef and pork are tender as ever and the tips are just amazing !!! Hands down this is the only BBQ I can eat on more than one occasion !!! Finger licking GOOOD!!! Ps if you eat this and you have plans forget about it a nice long nap is sure to follow FOODCOMA !!!

Mainly this is a take-out place, with a few tables outside.(And yes it’s in the hood.) Got to say I was a bit underwhelmed with the food. The rib dinner was $ 12 and you get about 6 ribs and 2 tiny sides. The ribs filled me up(plenty of meat on the bone) but I just wasn’t crazy about the flavor. Seemed like they boiled the flavor out. Also didn’t care much for the sauce(tried mixed – couldn’t really tell the difference). And definitely didn’t like the sides. Could taste the baked beans were out of a can, and the coleslaw seemed like it started to go bad. And I haven’t had cheap white«cotton» bread like that since maybe when I was a kid. Overall, disappointed. Except for the nice lady behind the counter who knew without me asking that I needed some extra napkins and wetnaps. Bludso’s is waay better.

Customers beware CHECKUREFOODBEFORE U LEAVE they are dirty like that even when u have a receipt. I WOULDNEVERGOBACKINTHEREPOORMANAGEMENTANDCUSTOMERRELATIONSHIPS. Mothers Day the place is crowded so my order was placed and they forget to put in 2 small end rib dinners. I tried calling back to no satisfaction.

The food is Good but it’s a waste of time calling in to order food, me a 6 other customer was very upset after calling 30 min in advance to place in order, then arriving there and are food wasn’t ready then got fed up waiting another 15min and ask for my money back… And the Spanish woman who was work told me and the other customers if we wait then don’t call us… We said we called 45min!!! Ago she said so what!!! Very rude and disrespectful!!! I will never go there again to my friends avoid that place!!!

This place has some really tasty bbq. I absolutely love the rib tips and the hot links! I only go to Woody’s when I am in LA and want bbq– I wish they would find a spot in San Fernando Valley! BUT, they can be really slow!!! Is it worth the wait? YES!!!

Nothing to make me want to come back. The baked beans were from the CAN(Pork and Beans) and the potato salad was from the BOX!!! This was my FIRST time here and probably my LAST. Next time I’ll just try PHILLIPS on the«SHAW”(Crenshaw lol…)

I had been passing this place for months now. Every time I go by there, people are lined out the door. I’m thinking, this place must be real good. Well, after buying a pork rib slab, I’m not thinking that any more. I am amazed so many people go to this place for BBQ or peach cobbler(which was horrible). My daughter asked me why the BBQ in LA is so substandard compared to mid-Western BBQ. All I can think of is Californian’s much not know there is better BBQ out there. What I really couldn’t understand about Woody’s BBQ pork ribs was added salt and pepper on the ribs and a thick(not so vinegary) paste for the sauce. $ 23 for one slab and a cup of peach cobbler is just too rich and tasteless for me. I’m moving on!

Nice, small BBQ joint on Florence. It was not on my plan of things to do for the day, but I was in the vicinity and decided to get some lunch here. I opted for the lady’s lunch:(chopped beef) and chicken link with one side(cole slaw) with mixed sauce. You have the option of mild or spicy sauce. I can see why it is called a lady’s lunch; the portion is small. If I visit again, I will order the gentleman’s lunch instead, and pass on the chicken link. The chicken link was not to my linking. Overall, a great lunch at a great price: $ 6.90

My coworker brought me here to check it out. She brought in Bludso’s the week before so we wanted to compare it. Small place with no inside dining seating, there is a small parking lot next to it. There are two tables outside but no shade. So we took our orders to go. The lunch specials were reasonably priced $ 6 – 7 with a choice of a side. I ordered the Inflation Fighter(pork rib tips and chicken link) but got the Beef in Basket(sliced beef on a french roll). DOH. Anyways the beef was okay and I did try both of their sauces(mild and mix — I liked the mild). But it just wasn’t as juicy and tender as the one from the other place. I also tried her meats(tips, sausage), but the tips were dry and the sausage had this odd texture. Beans and potato salad were good, just not that special. Probably won’t come back unless I’m realllly craving BBQ.

I was reading the negative reviews and was honestly shocked. I live nearby and we barely discovered this place about 3 years ago. They’re honestly the best ribs I’ve ever had, and they’re now the only place we buy ribs from. They’ve never gotten our order wrong, and we’ve never had bad service. THISISINTHEHOOD! So don’t expect nice seating or anything. It’s just a few outside tables and seats and a waiting bench inside. But we don’t care because we like to eat in the safety and comfort of our home. Honestly love these ribs, and I’ll be eating them til the day I die :) P. S. The only reason why I’m giving a 4 is because the sides aren’t great, which is why we don’t get them: D we only buy the ribs x)
