Quick, fresh, tasty, super filling and good price! Great hole in the wall to grab some grub before hitting Pantages. Pick your own noodle, rice, protein, veggie.

Thoroughly disappointed. Since this place had a 4-star rating, I was expecting it to be amazing. Located smack-dab-in-the-middle of LA, it is a noodle house which offers different combinations of meats, veggies, noodles, and rice. My experience was Very boring, bland and pricey for the quantity I was given. Ordered the soba bowl with chicken tofu and shrimp also medium level spicy-ness. Also, the man working literally did not understand a word of English. Usually this doesn’t matter to me but I had questions regarding the food and it was frustrating since he couldn’t answer at all. The noodles were dry and bland as was the chicken and shrimp. To top it off the chicken and shrimp pieces were so small, I literally thought the man forgot to put them in. Not worth the 11 dollars I spent. In fact I wouldn’t pay 5 dollars for it. Chinese food such as noodles must be cooked on a searing wok to impart the smokey flavor which is a characteristic flavor of great Chinese cooking! In this case the food was cooked on a low heat therefore, leading me to desire a greater depth of flavor. I wouldn’t come here again. I suggest you don’t either.

Came to the location during the posted hours to find the place all closed up. No information as to if this is a permanent closure or just a change in operating hours. I will attempt to post a picture for posterity and to prove that I did actually visit the location. Rather disappointing because I had made the effort of checking the posted hours in an attempt to visit a restaurant I had read about online.

Exactly what Hollywood Blvd. needs. A little authentic piece of Americanized Japan. If you like tiny Japanese restaurants in alleys in Japan, then here’s the American version. Awesome!

— 3.5 stars for the food — $ 8.72 for a bowl of noodles, cabbage, green pepper, onions, protein — wish it was saucier — can get crowded during lunch so order ahead for pick up. — decent service — knocked it down to 3 stars because it’s a bit pricey for a noodle bowl. glad i tried it. prob won’t be back.

Taste of food is way more disappointing compared to other Americanized Asian food. Fair price for a medium size bowl. It’s very clean. Would rather do Flame Broiler or Panda Express

Very tasty food with a cool way to decide exactly how you want it. A little too small to eat in but great for takeaway. Energetic staff. Cardboard takeaway boxes and menus are Eco-friendly too which I great to see.

Love this spot for lunch. It’s a small hole in the wall that can get pretty busy during lunch hour but food is yummy, portions generous and it’s cheap!

This place is awesome. The food is good, but that’s not why they get 5 stars. No, the star of the show is the gentleman behind the counter — Jack. He’s always amusing when you’re ordering but it wasn’t until we actually got to sit and eat in that I realized how cool he was. I’m surprised I managed to finish my soba bowl considering how much I was laughing. Yay for eating carbs then burning it off simultaneously with laughter. I guess I should mention the food too. It’s pretty basic — you get your choice of meat and carbs, with a sheet to check off all or any of the veggies you want. They have tofu and the carb choices are good too — sticky rice, yakisoba or udon. With some Sriracha on the side, you are good to go. This place is small. Like 5 barstools only small. But it is well worth it if you stay and eat. And by the way, if Jack plays«Like a Virgin» while you’re ordering… don’t be alarmed. He’s only trying to welcome you properly ;)

Great place for lunch. Bowls are $ 8 plus tax. They always have fresh ingredients and big portions. Each level of ‘spice’ is really a different sauce– mild is ‘Teriyaki’, medium a savory sauce, and hot a spicy Siracha-esque sauce. Medium is my favorite. If you like chewy noodles, get the Udon noodles. They’re delicious. You can either get a full serving of one meat or half servings of two meats– so like beef and shrimp or just a lot of chicken– and there’s no extra charge or anything. They get busy for lunch around 12, but it’s pretty quick from 11 – 12. A small little shop, they do have seats, but It’s just a really small amount of bar seating. I usually grab mine to go and eat outside or eat back at the office.

After seeing this spot appear seemingly out of nowhere and reading the initially positive reviews here on Unilocal I finally decided to check Yakipan out. I LOVE noodle bowls like this so it certainly wasn’t a hard decision to stop by. The interior is small and cozy. Definitely more of a «take out» spot. I ordered a bowl with all the veggies, chicken and beef, soba noodles, and a medium spice level. There probably isn’t another restaurant around where you can get such large portions of quality food for only $ 7. I’m sure that as demand builds they’ll raise prices but you really cannot get a better deal right now. Upon returning home and digging in I realized that there was no beef, only chicken. This wasn’t a huge deal because I didn’t pay any extra for the two meats but I was looking forward to trying both. The food itself was very good. Everything tasted fresh and it wasn’t overly greasy. The chicken was a little on the dry side but still tasted good. Maybe the best thing is that they’re giving out $ 2 off any bowl coupons to customers so you can bet that I’ll be returning to get a $ 5 bowl. Definitely check this place out while prices are so low!

Customizable rice or noodle bowls. Choose your starch. Choose your protein. Choose your vegetables. Choose your spice level. Wait five minutes. EATDELICIOUSFOOD! Big portion. Great value for the money. Very friendly service. Tiny little space. They are currently doing a soft open and will evidently expand their menu later on. Highly recommended. What a great addition to the neighborhood!
