ZMS The Academy Barber Program

Friendly staff and friendly environment. Basically these are students training to become professionals. I have a friend who is studying to become a barber here and he highly recommend me getting my haircut here. His name is Marlo and he has done a great job on my son’s and boyfriend’s haircut. I asked if they also cut women’s hair and low and behold they do so I finally had the guts to go get a haircut by students. As for me, I am very reluctant on getting my hair cut by just anybody. But I trust my friend and I’m glad I did. Arpi was very friendly and she was awesome. My haircut came out really good. I liked her so much that I asked if she can dye my hair. First I asked what she recommends. She recommended getting bleached highlights since I wanted to go medium blonde. So of course I went with her best judgment and came back the next day to get the highlights. Although, it did take 4 hours I love the results. I’m coming back to put toner in my hair. Will update more on the results.
I extremely recommend this place. It’s affordable, staff are friendly, teachers are always present to help the students when in need and they are there to shape their students into professionals. I recommend going to Arpi because she is great and gentle of what you want. But if you need a fade or barber cut then go to Marlo or Marlo. Yes that’s right there are 2 Marlos that go to school here and they are both good. We will definitely be back.

ZMS academy has wonderful and friendly environment. I’ve learned a lot from this school. The teachers are great and they answer every question you ask. I recommend this school if you are thinking about going to beauty school.

If you’re thinking about going to a barbering school this is the place to be. Great in class teacher and different licensed barbers come in and teach hands.
Even coming in as a client you will enjoy the service provided by all the students and staff

I love ZMS! I have a couple months left before I graduate from the barber program and I couldn’t say enough about this school. I transferred from another school for financial reasons and couldn’t be happier. The facility is great, the teachers really take the time to go over things with you, and I haven’t met anyone from the school who hasn’t ended up passing state board! For all the new students, just a heads up, u get what you put in! So if you are serious about school, you will have a great experience here.

Love this place! I graduated from here and it was the best decision in my life to enroll. The teachers and owner of the school worked with me the entire time, and helped me get through to reach my dreams of becoming a licensed cosmetologist… Not saying that’s what they will do for you, because you do need to be serious and ready to work as a student. But it’s much more one on one then the big schools. One on one=better learning and better understanding. The training they give you for state board is also amazing, and more one on one. This school however is transforming into a barber school. So if you are calling to enquire about the cosmetology program make sure you call first. If you are looking to get a service, I would suggest a phone call too for availability for woman to make sure u not waiting around, you can make a appointment. But… The barber program is popin here! Usually a shot wait because there are a lot of them. A great program for someone looking to get licensed. Most of the barber boys are already knowledgable on their clipper skills, working in local barber shops. You can come in and get a amazing fade, combover, trim, even hair designs if you get the right barber. This spot is a school, a beauty salon, and a barbershop all rolled into one. I love the staff, students, and the neighborhood. Highland park baby. Stop on in and give them a chance. Also you can hit Estrella on the corner for some lunch. :)

This was my 2^nd time going for a maincure (Susan). Students are basically training to become professionals. I received excellent service, the manicure only cost $ 6.00. The arm and finger massage is worth that alone, I was totally relaxed… It’s the best hands down… LOL

Ani works magic– she is lovely warm and careful. I think this place is a terrific neighborhood secret! The service is prompt. The rooms are clean, bright, and well appointed. I felt like I was in really good hands.
