Zog,
Wow! I’m not sure how I ever met friends in LA before ZogSports. Not only is it the most fun sports league I’ve ever played in (and I’ve lived all over the US), it’s also the best organized and has the best communication with the participants I’ve ever experienced.
I play in the Football and Bowling leagues (yes, they have bowling too!) and have had such a great time over the last year. I met my current girlfriend playing in the football league and have met all of the friends we hang out with regularly in the football and bowling leagues. It really is like the other review said, recess… but for adults.
I have to also agree that the refs, while not always «professional grade», help make the league a lot of fun while also knowing the rules and reminding everyone of the «big Picture» of why we are all there… to meet people and give to charity.
Thank you ZogSports for boosting my social life by 200%!

Zog is the best. I’ve been a regular at Sunday football at SMC and Saturday beach football since its inception. If you don’t have a full team or you’re afraid about joining a team alone as a free agent, fear not, it’s an amazingly friendly and easy experience. I signed up for Zog football a couple years ago as a free agent and since then have made life long friends and still play on various teams with people I met that first season as a loner.
It’s also great for all skill levels. Matt, the league commish, does a great job separating teams into the right divisions based on skill/​experience level, so you don’t have to worry about going up against a team of ex-​division 1 college athletes if you just want to play some casual football.
If you’re looking for a break from work, to relive that awesome feeling you had playing middle school football, or are just looking for some cool people to hang out with, Zog is the place for you. I HIGHLY recommend joining.

Zog reminds me of recess. After long days at work, finally I get to go outside and play!
A friend told me about ZogSports. I was hesitant because I’ve never played any organized sports, am not in great shape, and know only general football rules. I signed up for Touch Football as «extremely casual.» Perfect fit! I found that other players were inclusive and there to have fun. The referees and staff (thanks Caitlin & Matt) are patient and helpful.
I tried a different LA social sports league one season and was disappointed that it wasn’t as friendly or organized.
Zog is an important part of my week now. I look forward to happy hour, joking with friends, and burning off the tension of busy days. I currently play on 3 Zog football teams. It’s a stress release. I joke that, «Zog is my therapy.»

2 years ago a good friend of mine asked me to join her football team. I thought she was crazy. I can’t throw a football! I can’t catch! I can’t. I can’t. Long story short… they were short a girl one day, so I reluctantly, very reluctantly, stepped in. My life has not been the same since.
Zog has given me a community. I have an entire team of amazing friends. And it goes beyond our team. The people I see on the field, week after week, have all become friends. It’s fun to be opponents on the field and then buddies at the bar and other events afterwards.
Zog has given me an escape. Adulthood is full of responsibilities and to do lists and some really challenging times. Playing sports, even just once a week, let me put everything else aside, and jump in full heartedly. And with this group, it’s not about who wins or loses, though trust me, winning is amazing. It’s not about being a competitive jerk; it’s about trying your best, supporting your team, playing the game, and giving high fives when it’s over. Zog has divisions for different playing skills and interests.
Zog has given me a new passion, skills and confidence. I’ve now played volleyball, softball, beach flag football and two-​hand touch football. If there were more hours in a day, I would try soccer and basketball too! I am an actor, and was recently cast in a role where I had to play baseball. Thank you, Zog! I hit a line drive on the first shot, and then got another one for safety. But more than that, it’s been incredible to see, week after week, how I’ve improved. It’s proof that if you just show up, and try, you will get better.
I can. I can. I can throw a football. I can catch. I can try something new and succeed. I encourage you all to do the same.

ZogSports LA is great. I’ve been playing on teams in Zog for the past 3 years. I have done almost every sport at one time or another including football, beach and indoor volleyball, soccer, bowling, and softball. I have enjoyed myself every season and every sport.
The Zog «team» makes sure to create an atmosphere that is fun and personable. I love playing sports but the reason I choose Zog over other leagues is that they’ve done a great job fostering an environment that helps people get to know each other. Whether it is the after game happy hours or end of the season parties there are several ways to meet people. I currently have a great group of friends that I met directly through Zogs beach volleyball happy hour.
On top of great sports and great people the charitable aspect of Zog just makes it that much better. Part of the money you spend at the bar goes to charity and if you win or get 2^nd place in your league you get to choose a charity to donate money to!
Lastly, a special shout out to Caitlin. The go to person for all things Zog L.A. Anytime I’ve had questions or concerns regarding my team or the league, she has always made herself available. She is always upbeat and helpful and seems to genuinely care that everyone is having a great time!

I LOVE ZOG! When I first moved to LA I know no one, so I googled adult football league and ZOG showed up. Best decision I have made since moving here. I have played Beach volleyball, beach football, indoor volleyball, softball, and touch football. All the leagues have different division for varies skill levels tailoring it to the kind of experience you want out of ZOG. The one thing that every sport has in common is going to the bar after and getting to know the great people in ZOG.

Oh man, I couldn’t be happier to have found Zog!
I started with Zog Soccer about a year ago and played on a random team with random people. I hadn’t played in years and was so rusty and out of shape, but everyone on the team was just out there to have fun! You have people from all different skill levels — former college players to first timers — who are in it to be active and social. Don’t let the «but I don’t know anyone» excuse stop you from signing up!
It’s easy to find the skill level and competitiveness that is right for you, and it’s truly a great way for LA transplants (as a lot of us are) to go out and meet new people. It’s also so important and meaningful to us that we playing for charities of our choice.
I just signed up for my 8^th Zog season in my third sport (Football, Basketball, Soccer) and am trying to figure out how I can fit more sports into my schedule!

ZOG is amazing. It’s such a perfect mix of sports-​loving working professionals who moved to LA and sports-​loving working professionals who are native to LA. I initially started playing soccer when my friend needed a spot filled on his work team. That led to me joining another soccer team that started as free agents and grew into a close knit-​family. And, now I’m also on a football team that hangs out after every game and organizes get togethers on weekends that people voluntarily love showing up to.
No matter what your skill level is, there is a division in each league that fits everyone from beginners to people who played in college. All in all, whether you moved to LA or were born in LA, ZOG is a great way to get fun exercise in on the weekend while meeting the coolest people you otherwise would have never met. Fan for life (with life being defined as 45+ years old when I can’t run any more).
Tip: I did join 1 soccer team that didn’t have good team chemistry. If you join a team that doesn’t have good team chemistry or you feel the level of play is not your level, I’d recommend signing up for a new team or making friends with people on an existing team you do like and joining their roster the next season. I’ve seen new players cycle in and out of teams every season for one reason or another — so open spots on great teams are always opening up. And, a great team with the right level of competition makes all the difference. :)

Zog is seriously terrible. I can really only comment on the soccer portion of Zog but terrible.
— The league changes after every season. There is never any consistency of what day you play, field or time.
— Super expensive for a poorly run league.
— They pay the referees but most of the time they are drunk and don’t want to move… or better yet, have never played a day of soccer in their life.
— Now they want volunteers to help with the intoxicated referees. These volunteers must come from your team or you get penalized a goal. Unreal. That decision was made after we had already paid our league fees.
— They say your league fees help run the website… which is horrible to navigate. The website always takes down previous game scores and times. Also the website never has any useful content besides what time you play and where.
— They are now using a new «grass practice field» for Sunday games. This field is practically dirt with sprinkler heads all over and massive holes. A serious injury hazard… but don’t worry Zog is all about safety.
— They claim money goes to charity but no one has really ever seen that.
The only good thing, you get a free team t-​shirt that you pay for that is 100% cotton and is disgusting after one game. Totally worth the money but not really.
My advice to you is that there are better leagues out there. Do your research before you join this terrible league.

I joined the soccer league in early 2014 and still look forward to spending an hour every Sunday striking upper 90 lasers in the Santa Monica sun. The league is very well organized — Matt and Caitlin are very responsive and helpful. Caitlin has gone out of her way multiple times to help squeeze myself (and former teammates) onto a team despite forgetting deadlines. Well run business and very friendly players/​teams/​refs — ready for this fall session to begin already!

The soccer field was always my happy place and ZogSports helped bring me back to it! This is such a well run, highly social league! I definitely suggest it if you’re new in town as its a great way to meet people! My first season I registered alone but now my team joins together each season! Can’t wait to kick off the next round and celebrate some wins at HH!

Have you ever driven by a school or park and wondered, who are all these people playing (insert sport here) and how did they even come together as a group? Well, I sure did! I stumbled upon Zog through a friend, and was welcomed into a very warm and friendly community.
The warm and friendly faces, friendships, networking, social outlet (great if you’re new to LA) is definitely the way to make friends in a city where everyone keeps to themselves.
I highly recommend ZogSports to anyone!

I played indoor volleyball and did not have a team of my own.
No worries!
They place you in teams depending on how good you think you are.
I must say my team was pretty awesome!
I did not witness any harassment among teams members, nor did I witness any disagreements or negativities!
There are people that can get pretty competitive BUT for the most part everyone is pretty respectful towards each other.
You definitely do NOT have to be in great shape or be a pro athlete. If you want to have fun, socialize, network, and you have no problem being active then this is the league for you!
I do advise you though to bring your own first aid kit (ice packs for the most part) there is definitely a slight chance you can get a minor boo boo. Remember you are playing and there are other players around you doing the same, accidents do tend to happen and balls do hit your face so don’t be mad!

What is there to say about Matt and his ZOG Sports Team — they are fun, professional and helpful in every possible way. This is our teams second summer doing super-​casual softball and to say we love it is an understatement. Win or lose, Zog helps to create a feeling of comradeship and fun regardless. The end of year party is something to be remembered and the umps and admins respond to all emails, concerns and calls. I recommend this league to anyone with a group of friends looking to play casual games or people new to the city — we have met great people both on our team and off. #bringingpeopletogether

I’ve played in the soccer league for at least five seasons and have had a great experience each season. More than just having fun and meeting cool people, this league is well run with great managers. One of the great things about the league is that players have a voice — the organizers are responsive and listens to feedback from the players. I’ve recommended the league to friends and plan to continue playing soccer with zog sports.

If you want to play for fun and you are not overly competitive this is the league for you. As for myself I have played competitive softball pretty much all my life not to mention i have played in college too so I find the level of competiveness a little on the weak side. I have met some cool people and they do give some money to charity so that’s a good thing. Not sure how much goes to them but at least they donate. I think that’s their motto, playing for a cause since their league fees are super expensive.
There a few things I dislike about the league. One is that they claim that we have a sponsor but never get anything from the sponsor. So how is that sponsorship? Not sure about that one. I would usually not say anything about it but they put the sponsor on the shirts that WE pay for. Shouldn’t we decide if we want the sponsor logo on our shirts or not? What happens if we don’t like the sponsor? haha anyway…
Second thing I dislike is that some of the umpires are new never had experience umping a game. They train them which is fine but are not completely aware of the rules. This causes a lot of conflicts between teams of who is right an who is wrong.
Lastly, this is a ‘for profit’ organization so the fees are pretty high compared to other leagues. This league only has seven games plus playoffs. If you don’t mind paying that then give it a GO.

I have been playing in Zog now for over a year. I started with playing Indoor Volleyball after being asked by a friend if I wanted to be on a team. Instantly was so pleased with it. The refs are all great and they go out of the way to make it fun. I now play Indoor Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, and Softball. One of the best and most caring leagues I have played in. I highly recommend them.

I’m just starting my touch football season, but I have to say that so far I’m having a blast with Zog! I’m on a team where only a few people knew each other before hand, and they are the nicest people who are just there to have a great time and play some football. This is such a fun way to meet people and be active… and you can’t beat the happy hour after the games at Cabo Cantina. And the refs and league manager couldn’t be nicer. They’re super helpful and really want everyone to have a great time. I’m really excited about this season and can’t wait to play in the next one!

I only played 2 games before tearing my Achilles’ tendon, but before, during, and after the injury I couldn’t be happier with this league.
The people — awesome! Everyone, from the refs to the teammates, are friendly, social, and caring. The game completely stopped when I got injured, both teammates and referees did everything they could to help.
After, I had two zog sports individuals, including the head of the league, contact me regarding my injury and to check in on my condition. Further, they gave me credit towards a future league when I am ready to play again (with a generous time frame given the long road of recovery ahead of me).
I imagine individual involvement would depend on the teams, but as far as I saw everyone was welcomed and included. There are mandatory girl plays so they keep up with the coed spirit, and still maintain a competitive level.
Hope to be back on the field when I can!
