Darling-Fischer Chapel of the Hills

Nicholas of Darling and Fischer provided us with outstanding service when our mother passed away unexpectedly. He was patient and kind and understanding and caring and took care of every detail. He made us feel like we should have exactly the kind of service we wanted and every request was graciously taken care of promptly and professionally.

Very long established business. Darling Fisher has many locations and served the community for a vary long time. So one would think that Mortuary 101 would be dust the caskets when presenting a body. No so. I attended a Rosary and burial of a friend and between the night of the Rosary and next day burial, the casket was still dusty. There were three morticians standing around and no one thought to inspect the casket.
Maybe now a dust rag will be in someones pocket. Attention to detail in this business is everything. Darling Fisher should know this by now.

I really hoped I would never see the day I would have to review a place like this but things in life that we have no control over. My husband recently passed away due to heart condition that was found out about after he passed. His death was both shocking and unexpected. I could barely function so the idea of having to plan a funeral seemed like an impossibility. Teamed with his parents and Darling-​Fischer we got through it. The team here showed nothing but compassion and kindness to me in this time. They actually talked to me and listened to how I felt. They handled his viewing very beautifully and we were nothing but respectful to me and my family. They knew that I would have alot of things to handle after his funeral ad they took over and gave me an itemized list of what to expect. They ordered the death certificates and took alot of the leg work out of everything. They made a very hard situation less hard which is something did not think possible. They knew just what to say and all the comforting things they said to me kept me sane. I have yet to find people who know what to say in a situation like this besides them. These people really do care and if this is a service you find yourself needing I recommend going with them.

For the money they charge… which is A LOT… the furnishings and level of service leaves so much to be desired! The couches are worse than something you would get at Goodwill. We ordered a refreshment package for the service we held there and the food was no more than Costco snack food. The food was served on the cheapest Goodwill junk. I felt so ashamed to host refreshments after our service that I kept making apologies to the people who showed-​up to pay respects to our loved one for the lack of service and junky serviceware they used. Shame on them! Trust me! Go to Lima or Alameda or ANYWHERE but there!
