David Ticzon, DDS

Dr. Ticzon is a great dentist! He is very friendly and also does excellent work. He spends a lot of time with each patient (does the entire cleaning himself, beginning to end. Which I have found from working in dental offices myself, is not the norm). Also friendly staff and a convenient location. I would highly recommend this practice to my own friends and family.

First let me go back to when I was a child. I used to have a slight gap between my front teeth. It was fun to squirt water out of the gap, but more than anything I wanted braces. My best friend had braces and she used to give me her packets of rubber bands. I used to wear the rubber bands religiously around my two front teeth, then would occasionally straighten a paperclip and mold a watermelon Jolly Rancher to the roof of my mouth to act like a retainer. This went on for years to the point of no longer having a gap in between my two front teeth. Well, I don’t know if it was the years of wearing bands, or just the wish of wanting braces, but now at the age of 44 I’ve finally taken the plunge. My two front teeth have been over lapping each other for years and it wasn’t until «selfies» that I really started to get bothered by it. I have thought about veneers and traditional braces but didn’t want to have my teeth grinded to nubs to have veneers put on that only last 15 or so years, and I didn’t want to be sporting a metal grill like the kids at my daughters school. So Invisalign seemed like the perfect solution. I met with over 5 dentists & orthodontists for consultations but firmly landed in Dr. Ticzon’s chair. The other people I met with made me feel like they were seeing dollar signs when I walked in the door. It became a big turn off when two of them kept calling me over and over to get me to make a decision. Dr. Ticzon never gave me pressure, or a sales pitch. His main concern was to make me feel comfortable and educated about my choice. The first thing his assistant did was take a thorough set of x-​rays. She was super sweet and nice and had some really neat tips and tricks to get those cardboard squares to sit in your mouth without feeling like you want to immediately rip them out. Even taking the molds was a painless experience. Dr. Ticzon and his assistant Megan really have their techniques down and work together like a well-​oiled machine. Dr. Ticzon also did an extremely thorough job of checking my bite, jaw, glands, and gum pockets measurements and even checked the inside of my mouth and under my tongue for signs of oral cancer. During my second appointment I got to view the virtual images of how my teeth were going to look in 11 stages from beginning to final result. It was so exciting to see my actual teeth change right in front of my eyes. He even let me take pictures and video because I told him how much I loved posting things like this on Facebook. He also walked through each stage and told me what he would be doing and what I could expect. Also Dr. Ticzon viewed my x-​rays and found that many of my back teeth have short roots (which means if they were to move they could fall out). So because of that we were only going to have movement of my top 6 and bottom 6 teeth (they call it canine to canine). So because of the crowding he was going to shave very small amounts off each side of a few teeth. I was very nervous about this, but he showed me the tool he was going to use and it was literally as thin as a piece of paper. Also he said it wouldn’t even be noticeable once the Invisalign trays were in (which he was right about). So on Wednesday I came in and got fitted for my first set of trays. Dr. Ticzon & Megan did some detailed work crafting and adhering the the little tooth colored pegs to a few of my teeth so that the trays would snap into place and keep them fitted on my teeth. Also Dr. Ticzon explained in detail how to care for the trays, when to take them out, and also gave me a heads up that my teeth would be feeling strange for a few days and then any discomfort will go away. He even reached out to me the next morning to see how I was doing. I told him I felt like I had corn between my teeth and he assured me again that in a few days it will go away. Well sure enough, he was right. It’s now Sat. AM and I have been wearing the trays for 3 days and I feel zero discomfort. I was initially very nervous about the whole process but now I look forward to each tray and appointment getting closer and closer to my perfect smile. Thank You Dr. Ticzon! You are the BEST!!!
p.s… Just stumbled upon the 1 star review by Kathleen. I don’t agree with her viewpoint at all about Dr. Ticzon. He’s been nothing but honest, detailed and professional. Will be interesting to see what happens to her teeth down the road. Maybe she was just embarrassed that she was called out on not flossing. Good luck with that!

I have never been so disappointed. I saw Dr. Ticzon for approximately 6 months. The first visit was great — good vibe, friendly guy, seemed trustworthy. Oh, how I was deceived.
On my second visit, Dr. Ticzon insisted on doing a bunch of X-​Rays (which I later found out were completely unnecessary).
I received the following email after I sent over my insurance info:

Kathleen:
Thank you for getting back to me regarding the dental insurance.
I had a chance to look at your X-​Rays from this morning, and I hate to tell you that there are decays between the teeth. Some of the decays have gone through the enamel and are now in the second layer of the teeth. All of these decays could have been prevented if you had floss more often.
Can you please call our office to make an appointment for them? I will also have May contact you.
When I see you at your next visit, I will show them to you, and we may want to take care of a few of them at that time.

You have the nerve to tell a patient OVER EMAIL that they have several cavities? That was the first red flag. In a complete panic (I’ve had one cavity my whole life), I immediately had him send over the X-​Ray pictures and I sent them over to 2 other dentists (friend’s dad who’s a dentist and my family dentist in Chicago, Dr. Salzman) to take a look at them. Both were very skeptical. I saw one of these dentists in person to verify and he told me I was being scammed — I didn’t have ANY cavities.
I informed Dr. Ticzon of the other opinions, and he did not defend himself nor apologize (also have this in writing via email). I am not sure who to take this up with but this is an act of fraud! Needless to say, he will not be seeing me again. Very very let down.
Be careful! Make sure to get second opinions. Better yet, avoid going to Dr. Ticzon altogether.

So I have dental insurance. I came to the good doc for an emergency cleaning and checkup. He is a really nice guy. As a dentist I have no problem his work. He is great and didn’t find things wrong with my teeth that were not there.
My beef is with the billing aspect. His front desk and billing were less than welcoming and clear about how much the cleaning would cost me. I wish they would work closer with my insurance company to let me know how much their services would cost me. By the way, I got a statement from my insurance company and I’m still unclear on how much I owe! Perhaps this isn’t Dr. Ticzon’s fault, but the system needs to be changed.

My entire family has been going to see Dr. Ticzon & Dr. Krystal since my husband had a very painful & infected tooth some 6 years ago. Before even really explaining how wonderful Dr. Ticzon and staff are you need to understand that our relationship started with a panic call after hours during a weekend. Needless to say without having any previous exams with Dr. Ticzon he came in to help my husband!
I am a medical nightmare for most doctors being that I have a rare nerve disorder called RSD/​CRPS which makes it hard to treat me when dealing with anything nerve related. I’m not one to jump to see the dentist although I love to have a beautiful smile. I am like many with bad past experiences with dentists. This fear has dissipated now since I know how wonderfully talented a dentist he truly is. This has been the first time for my husband and I to feel completely at ease when we see the dentist or take our young girls in for any dental needs.
It’s a wonderful feeling to know that when you are in real need of help from your dentist regardless of the time, he is there. You won’t be waiting hours by your phone in agony waiting to get in! He has shown our family time and time again that our health and well being matter to him. What more can you want in a dentist?
If you are apprehensive of seeing a dentist like I was, look no further… I’m writing this for your benefit! Go in and relax knowing he has already had the «most challenging» patient ever… me.
I hope this helps get you in the door to better dental health and less anxiety walking in. I swear you will walk out with a real smile on your face :)

I’ve been going to this office for about 4 years now, and have suggested everyone from my work to go to these guys. I don’t see Dr Ticzon, but my son and I see Dr. Krystal, who has treated me so well over the years.
They have corrected other dentists who have done shoddy work, and have never steered me wrong on any of my appointments.
The most important thing for me was the fact they don’t try to up sell you a bunch of crap you don’t need. There is nothing more annoying then trying to get your teeth cleaned and have the dentist tell you how crappy your teeth look and how you should hand over MORE money to make them whiter/​straighter/​ect. Neither of these two, or any of their employees have done this and it’s GREAT!
I suggest to everyone that they try this office out of they are looking for a dentist in Los Gatos.

Once upon a time, a little girl had a dentist. While she never cried or screamed at the thought of going to the dentist, she was never all that comfortable with the family dentist whom she was forced to see during her youth.
Fast foward to 1995. The little girl is now an adult with her own insurance to cover her dental needs. Now, how to find a dentist who understands her anxiousness of sitting in the chair for those dastardly fillings and crowns… did I mention the little girl really enjoyed her sweets?!
At the suggestion of a good friend, the woman found Dr. Ticzon and Dr. Krystal. A husband and wife dental team who treat you with care upon your entry into their office and until you leave your appointment, and all the times in-​between. Dr. Ticzon sees the adults and Dr Krystal will take wonderful care of your kids.
Having a good dentist is key. You really don’t want to «dread» going to the dentist. I mean, it’s safe to say that most of us would like to keep those pearly whites until we are 100, right? I’d like to be able to enjoy chewing my steak in the end. Well Dr. Ticzon is just the perfect caretaker of your teeth. He is gentle and kind, just a really nice person all around. And he loves gadgets, so he’s always chatting about his fascination with things like Slingbox, iPods, Wi-​fi and so on. I think this his way of keeping you occupied so you don’t really think about the drilling he’s about to do!
And frankly, since I’ve been going to him for the last 15 years, I have truly appreciated the care he takes to tell you every step of the way what he is doing with those utensils in your mouth. When I have to have any drilling done, I’m always tense in the chair. I’ve found that Dave’s chairside manner is that of a really good pediatrician, he makes sure you are doing ok and that if you feel any pain he stops and checks in.
They also keep a very safe, clean office, using fresh gloves when working on a patient. You can feel good that all tools are sterilized.
I remember when his kids were born, and now the oldest is heading to high school! It’s really cool to know them both and feel like they are my friends whom I trust in their care. My husband, who had not visited a dentist since, um, high school (circa 1989) finally took my advice and saw Dave. They hit it off and my husband goes regularly for his visits.
So, if this doesn’t convince you to see Dr. T, then you probably need a dose of anti-​anxiety before you read any further reviews on dentists…

If you’re looking for a great dentist, then David is a gem. Good environment, fun office. My wife and three daughters love going there as I do. My wife is going through the Invisalign process which is long but working well. A special bonus to me is that his office is all Mac. Even his web page is build using iWeb. Yeah, I work for Apple. :)
