FUZE Fit For A Kid!

The best place for a birthday party ever! Just had my son’s 7^th birthday party at Fuze. It doesn’t get any better! The staff was awesome! Easy to work with! Great with the kids! My son and his friends never stopped! Organized activities and free play. I definitely recommend Fuze!

This review is not about FUZE parties, activities, an experience, or the environment itself. This is just a warning to those parents who are trusting FUZE’s owners. Last week I was behind the FUZE van turning left onto Lark Ave. from Winchester Ave. The van clearly was not paying attention as his van went into the other turning lane. I questioned this for a moment and thought at least he didn’t hit a car, but then as were traveling I noticed the driver kept looking down. I was hoping there were no kids in the van, but I was too hopeful. I went around the van and watched this man (the owner) looking more at his cell than on the rode.
I instantly called FUZE and spoke with a woman who seemed more annoyed I was calling to tell her about this driver. I was even more appalled when she did not care and had no concern. I went into the parking lot and confronted him. Asked if he always drives kids around while on his phone, he pulled at his ear buds and said he was «hands free». He most certaintly not hands free; he was on his phone looking down and was not a good driver. I would not care or have had written this review if it weren’t for children in the van and the rude lady (owner I am assuming) who did not care about my concern. I am disappointed in the whole situation and will never give business to them.

My son attends the after school program at Fuze. The management really cares about the kids and makes sure parent’s requests are met. I call this a great customer experience.
Can’t say enough how much my son loves the place and is happy on Sunday afternoons that next day is Fuze day :)

We had my son’s 6^th birthday party here. It was so fun! The kids & adults had a great time!!! We had a disorganized party, because the kids were all over the place but the our hosts were great & always had the kids attention. Highly recommended!!!

Fuze is a fabulous after school program combining exercise and homework.

I was impressed by the facility when i visited it last enquiring about Bday Parties.
Decided to plan party this month and has called them many times, left voice mails, sent them email but no response other than automated email .
If they can’t get back to customers with their query then i am very doubtful of their service it self.
Sorry guys, will search for another place which responds to customers

My son went here for after school for about a year. They are OK. Nice enough, but seem a bit disorganized. Kept messing up on the billing. Better at the activities then running the business.
They help out with homework which is a plus. My son liked it for about the first 4 months, then got really bored of it.

We hosted my son’s 6^th birthday party at FUZE Fit For a Kid, and from start to finish it was a positive experience. Booking was easy, and the day of the event, Coach Patrick and Coach Morgan were very helpful and pleasant! They helped us transport our party supplies and food into the facility, which was clean and organized. Coach Patrick facilitated all the party activities which kept the 13 kids we hosted entertained and active! This meant very little required of me and husband so that we could chat with the other parents and family who attended. At the end of the party, Coach Patrick and Coach Morgan helped us with clean-​up and packing everything back into our car. I asked my son what he thought of his birthday party, and he said it was his best birthday yet!

After our after school day care closed two weeks before school starting, we were in a desperate need to find care for our 2 children. (9 and 5). A friend of ours referred us to Fuze Fit for a Kid. I was not aware that they had an after school program so I checked it out and was very impressed. When I found out they even had a shuttle pick up I was even more impressed. Sadly, they only have two shuttles and the pick up times from our school wouldn’t work, but we were able to find an alternate drop off option with the assurance that the manager would try and work out a possible option of picking up our children in the future, as he was working on getting a third vehicle. Currently, 5 students from our school attend the program and the need for a shuttle would be greatly appreciated.
Our kids have been attending for a month now, 3 days a week and they love it. There are two pickup options (5:15 and 6:15). While they are there, they are required to do an hour of instructor led– physical activity (yoga, hip hop, rock climbing etc), and they also have time to work on homework, with assistance from a tutor if needed. This is a HUGE plus for us. Having to battle homework on top of dinner prep and bedtime preparations after 8+ hours in the office is daunting. Just having this perk, makes for a much smoother evening transition with out all the headaches. HUGE WIN!
The after school program holds up to 40 children. The children are separated into two groups, typically by age. While one group is doing homework, the other is taking a class. The facility is very clean and organized.
I usually arrive around 4:45 to pick up and my kids beg to stay longer. And all the way home, I get to hear about the activities they did for the day while there. There is so much excitement in their stories, it makes me feel good with the decision to enroll them there.

I hear good things about the after school program but I’ve attended 2 birthday parties there and been very disappointed both times.
I found some of the staff to be very poor with younger kids. They were Impatient, overly bossy and were watching the kids to catch them breaking one of the man rules. I think they should be spending their time making games an getting the kids involved.
30+ min of a 3 hour party were spent going over the many rules… you either had too many rules or you need to only have parties for adults.
Also this place gets really cramped and hot.
There won’t be a 3^rd party at Fuze for us!

I previously gave a very detailed review of all the pros and cons of FUZE’s afterschool program. Check it out below for more details — everything about my previous review still holds true, but I am upping my rating to 5 stars based on the FUZE’s flexibility and willingness to work with parents’ changing schedules.
My son usually goes M, W, Th, but a few times I’ve had to change the precise days of the week, and Fuze has always been accommodating about switching days (as long as I ask in advanced), times, and helping cover childcare during school vacations and summer break.
As a working parent, I really _​really_​REALLY appreciate their flexibility and the support that they offer my family.

My son has been going to Fuze for 4 years now. We couldn’t be happier with his after school care/​program. To start with, they provide a shuttle service that picks him up everyday from school which is a great time saver for me. I love that all their activities are physical and fitness based. They offer sports conditioning class, yoga, hip hop, martial arts to name a few. They also have a tutor during homework hour to help the kids which is awesome. The coaches are friendly, attentive and great with kids. My son loves his coaches and always has a great time no matter what he’s doing there.
Beyond that, Dave and his team are very accommodating and always willing to work things out with the parents. Throughout the years, whenever we have had a schedule change, be it, teachers conference week, furlough days, spring breaks, work schedule change; Fuze has always been there to support my need for child care. I’ve gone through quite a few child care facilities before finding Fuze, I’m so glad Dave and his staff are around. As a mom that works full time with no family around to help with the care for my son, Dave and his team have provided me with years of great service and a peace of mind that is invaluable.

To Dave,
I find it ironic that before you wrote this comment, you emailed me saying how disappointed you were with your staff, blah blah, you were being apologetic, and even ensuring me that you have taken steps with your staff not to let this happen again. Heck, you even offered me a refund! (I can copy and paste your email here if you like). And your post here is absolutely nothing like your email, in fact it is quite the opposite.
Yes, you left me messages on ¹⁄₂₃ and ¹⁄₂₄ and sent me an email on ¹⁄₂₃. Too bad that like most of us, I work 60 hrs a week and have a family to take care of that answering your calls or email was the last thing to do on my list. You wrote this comment on ¹⁄₂₆. That is not even a week. So, who is misleading here? I have no gain in writing a feedback here on Unilocal,this is mainly to tell what my experience was with you. I do not own a «competing facility» as you put it, coz if I do have a facility of my own, I would not be booking my son’s party at your place now, would I?
The kids had fun, they are 7 year olds and if you give them anything with a push button, they are happy. High fiving? Sure, why not? My son is 7, your staff asks for a high five, he’ll give it to you. The review that I primarily gave is the experience related to customer service.
Anyone can go to your place and check it out for themselves. There is no way you can sit 20 kids COMFORTABLY in that small room. 20 is already squeezing them in. Each one is different, if I am hosting a party and expecting 20 people, I will prepare for 20 people before the party begins, not DURING the party.
Sad to say, I only got 2 emails from your «party specialist», one to confirm (make sure u guys have my credit card number) and the second email was after I have left several phone calls and emails. I was the one trying to get hold of your party specialist who was either not in the office on this day or will return my call on this day. Again, I can copy and paste the thread of emails that I have sent out.
Quality Feedback Form? Was I suppose to get one? From whom? Coz I didn’t get any after the party. I got the bill (overbilled me if I didn’t check BTW) and that was it. If I got the feedback form, I would have filled one out right there and then.
Calling out people by name is you say unkind. That is your perception and you are entitled to it. I call it accountability.

What a great place for kids to get in shape. I have been bringing my daughter here for personal training, and she gets an amazing workout. She really likes her trainer (Tina). Also, my son attended a hip-​hop dance class with Lamont, which was a lot of fun for him.
They have exercise machines set to video games to make the children’s exercise experience fun. The décor is fun & exciting for kids, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Highly recommended!

I wasn’t sure about this place at first… one of the guys that works there isn’t the best at customer service, but he’s the only one.
Tina is great, and so is Lamott (sp?)!! They’re my favorite. :D
Fuze is a lot like a regular gym in that you can adjust your schedule if you need to. We were going out of town, so we asked if we could come some other time during the week and they said, SURE! Also, my daughter wanted to try out the Hip Hop class even though she was taking the Sports Conditioning class. They said, SURE! So we just dropped in on one of the Hip Hop days.
My daughter plays competitive ice hockey and this place is GREAT for conditioning between practice. She has a blast and comes home all sweaty and gross! :D

I wanted to write a review for FUZE, but in looking at some of the other feedback, Sue R (Review dated ¹⁰⁄₅) pretty much summed up everything I would have said.
The only other drawback I would cite is around billing as their system doesn’t allow for split homes/​families and monthly fees have to come from one account. It’s a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nevertheless.
The staff is friendly, competent and knowledgeable. Shuttle transportation reliable and I’m aware of no issues with my son who has been going to FUZE since last year.
The range of programs is varied and really caters to the development of individual children.
It’s an amazing setup and I’m very pleased with it.

I was introduced to Fuze Fit through Groupon, and introduced my daughter to the camp this summer. I was worried because my daughter was not good at sports and normally didn’t like group exercises, which was the reason I tried Fuze Fit. Amazingly when I picked her up at 3:00, which should be 2:00, she was very happy and asked if she could come everyday for the whole summer. She finished the 3-​day camp and now she is in a camp at her school, but she kept saying Fuze Fit was more fun. She did become stronger and developed some physical skills in a week.
Another thing I love are the staff. They are friendly and flexible with schedules. As I mentioned earlier, I made a mistake on the picking up time by postponing an hour for the week, and they didn’t make it an issue at all.
The reason I only give 4? I wish they have an outdoor playground with more fun structures and a pool for water fun in the summer.
This summer we are all booked and will definitely come back next summer, or maybe a birthday party.

I had my son’s 6^th b’day here with his school buddies. I would say the overall experience was ok for the kids, eventhough we expected the staff to be more involved with the kids in making them explore all the things available. The kids were left on their own for the most part and did not enjoy quite a few things that were explained when signing up.
The worst part was their overbilling. They charged me 25% more than what I signed off at the end of the party. They billed my credit card 10 days after the party was over and it was 25% above what I had signed on the bill. I tried calling them multiple times, sent them multiple emails for an explanation, but there were no response. Eventually I had to deal through my credit card company.
Make sure to get everything in writing and retain the receipts for a while.

So this review is not to rate the actual activities or place it’s self, RATHER IT IS TO RATE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MAKE POTENTIAL PARTY BOOKER’S AWARE OF THE CANCELLATION FEE.
One of my friends recommended this place to me because it is more private than say The Jungle or Chuck E Cheese’s. I looked at the website and it seemed cool, so I did a booking email online. A few days later I received a call from a male staff member to book our party. He quickly went through basics about how many kids, if we were doing food, etc and we were set. He told me he needed a credit card number to hold the reservation and that the card would not be charged.
Unfortunately, five days before we were supposed to have the party, we found that many of our sons friends would not be able to make it and we were in the middle of moving to a new town so we really wanted his party to be full of his friends. We called and left a message saying that we needed to cancel and requesting that someone return our call to ensure they got the message. We didn’t hear anything, so I called again and left another message. My husband also tried calling and was not able to reach anyone.
The next day I see a charge from Fuze Fit for $ 200. Of course I was outraged and even more determined to get a hold of the manager so I left another message and sent an email. I was firm but rational in my e-​mail, telling him that I had not been informed of a $ 200 cancellation charge, had not authorized them to charge my card and that I thought it was unprofessional to not be contacted back after the several attempts I had made to get a hold of someone. Dave, the owner/​manager writes back and basically says that we were informed of the policies and that all of the information was posted on the website. The funny thing is the information is not posted on the party page and he had to send us the actual link for us to find it. Whatever, I guess we are dumb because we couldn’t find it. Anyways, Dave says he wants to speak with us and even offers to re-​book the party and apply the fee towards it. Well here’s the problem, since we hadn’t heard from you after cancelling, we re-​booked are party at another place. We also had no idea we were going to be charged $ 200 or we would have made EVEN MORE OF AN EFFORT than we already had to contact you again.
The main principle or moral of my story is, if we would have been contacted when we had originally cancelled, we could have spoken to a live person and they could have told us about the cancellation fee and at that time offered to re-​schedule the party. That’s what a place that cares about their patrons does, it’s called customer service! I would have completely understood the policy had I been treated like a priority, instead, it was not until I sent a firm e-​mail that stated my account was charged fraudulently that I finally seemed to spark a fire under someone’s butt. I never called Dave back, because from his e-mail’s I felt it would have been pointless to argue. He obviously felt we had no standing and that we were at fault.
MY ADVICE TO FUZE FIT: get a better web designer to make your site more user friendly and send a booking confirmation e-​mail with ALL the details specific to booking a party and the cancellation fee’s. Saying your employee told you every detail would not stand up as real evidence for most, put it in writing! A little bit of knowledge up front to the patron would have stopped all of this confusion from the get go and both Dave and my family would not had to go through this.
I wish I had more positive things to say, but this was just an additional stress on top of us going through a huge move.

I give up! Okay, Dave… you win! I won’t be back. I tried to leave objective information about your business and my experience but you just got too bent out of shape and insulting. I was willing to work with you but you insulted my intelligence with your pigheadedness. Instead of three stars with a chance to fix things and earn a 5 star rating, you can have a one star rating. Yeah… what could have been a simple fix turned into you pissing off a customer because of your temper.
–If I purchased a groupon in error, when I called to make the appointment to get the punch card, when I stated the ages of my kids, someone should have notified me that the punch card did not apply to this age range. I would have fine with that but this is not what happened.
–When I came in, again, I registered and had my kids with me. Someone should have told me that this deal was not for me. I would have been fine with it and gotten a refund from groupon. Instead, I was given a punch card and welcomed to attend a class, which we did twice. If that wasn’t okay, how was that my fault?
–There are no restrictions listed on the punch card. I also wasn’t notified of any restrictions when I was issued the punch card. Again, if there are restrictions surrounding this deal, this was another missed opportunity to notify me.
–Your schedule of classes was out of sync with reality. I simply pointed that out on Unilocal.At the time, it was true. It was a simple fix but from a customer perspective, it is disappointing to not have the options presented to you… member or not. Schedules and web sites that do not reflect accurate business practices is a legitimate complaint.
–I was told twice by your employees that the classes that I wanted to sign up did not exist at all. not that they were not available for groupon members. Had I been told in advance that I did not qualify to attend those classes as a groupon member, I would have been cool with it. Just set your customer’s expectations.
–Don’t get mad at me because your employees messed up or gave me misinformation. This is an opportunity for you to see that there is something broken in your business process and fix it. That is what this constructive feedback is intended for.
–I have no idea why you have been disputing what I observed at the classes that I attended. Those observations are my experience and are there to give future customers an idea of what kind of activities take place, so they can get a better idea of your products and services. If the activities that go on in your classes do not meet your expectations, you might want to sit in on one and observe or discuss the curriculum with the teacher instead of disputing it with a customer.
–Please don’t send me harassing emails stating that this is my fault because you are a (previously) 5 star service and best in the bay. Even if I messed up, so did you. How hard is it to say, «Thanks for the feedback. Let’s figure this out.» Then we could have worked together. This approach would have earned you a 5 star rating but you didn’t choose this path.
–It was great that you updated the schedule on your web site to fix the problem that I pointed out. However, doing the whole, «I don’t see how you could see that there is a problem,» pretending like this was never an issue was unprofessional. If you value the illusion that you are always right, rather than you provide good customer service, then you have lost sight of what it means to be a good business owner.
–I was using the groupon punch card as an opportunity to test drive whether or not to join your facility as a regular member. Up until we encountered your attitude, it was looking like an option. Now you have made it clear to us that your facility is not for us.
–That «great deal» that you gave groupon members is not a good deal any more, after you bullied us into abandoning coming back after only 2 sessions.
–You keep telling me that I should have contacted you. I don’t have your direct contact information. However, you have my contact information (including my phone number). Why didn’t you just call me ask have a nice conversation instead of writing me rude emails and insulting comments? Really mature.
