Icing on the Cake

I have been coming to IoC for years, and I love all of their goods. Their Big Top cookie is my personal favorite. About 2 weeks ago, I placed an in-​store order for a sheet cake with a special design (of a brontosaurus) for my kid’s first birthday. I ordered the marble cake with raspberry filling, with buttercream frosting. I also ordered a cupcake for the kiddo. The cake was beautiful, and more importantly, delicious. We enjoyed it and it made the party very special. Thanks IoC! You know I’ll be back.

Literally the BEST BEST bakery ever. I go to school away from Saratoga/​Los Gatos, and this is one of the places that I must visit every time that I’m home. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this bakery to anyone visiting the area.
They have a number slip system to keep the line organized. So pretty much you take a slip, look around at the various baked goods until your number is called.
The prices are up there, but I’m willing to pay extra for quality. If you don’t care too much about the freshness of your food, they sell one-​day old items sometimes at a cheaper price. I would pay the extra dollar or whatever the amount for the fresh one.
Onto the food:
Banana Cake: you MUST try this. I’ve literally never had banana anything so good. The cake is perfectly moist and super flavorful. The icing on top adds a nice touch, but isn’t overbearing. The focus is still on the actual banana cake part. I believe it’s $ 3.75 for one square.
Banana Cupcake: just as good as the banana cake, but a little sweeter (since there’s a lot more frosting). Same feelings toward it as toward the cake.
Mint Chocolate Dipped Cookie: Yeah I don’t remember what it’s actually called, but it has a mint chocolate coating on half the cookie. It was good, but didn’t blow my mind.
Chocolate Chip Cookie: HUGE, and absolutely delicious. I’d assume that all the other cookies are just as good as well.
The only gripe I have with this place is that they use saran wrap to wrap up the goods, which kinda detracts from the aesthetic appeal of the food.
Overall, FAVORITE bakery in the South Bay.

Can’t get rid of the unwelcoming feelings. No greeting, no smile, & no sampling (which I don’t care much).
Cute but unsophisticated. Saran wrap? Like school cafeteria? Me think not.
Cheap material apron for $ 24, prob won’t achieve its premises of keeping underneath clothes clean or prevent from hot oil burns while cooking. Browsing the shop is fine; just know it’s LG, means high OH.
My last visit to a sweet shop was Maison Kayser near Notre Dame, Nov ’15. They aren’t even famous for cakes, but sadly, Icing wasn’t even close to it. I’m aware of the difference between American & European technics, but to me the latter is much deeper in any ways. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no snob, but I know what I like. I’d rather go or take my friends to Fleur de Cocoa or Amour Patisserie, not Icing.

I used to like their Banana cream puffs @ S cakes. With the HI shop closed, I wonder where the inventor of the puffs, Mr. K went. Did he come back to LA or opened his own back home city where the airport is flooded with lots of tourists nowadays?
So far sweets in bay area don’t quite bring me happiness, but cuz of that, I don’t grow any more is a good thing.

This place has a lot of options for everyone. Kinda too many options, it’s overwhelming. Staff is very bubbly.
Had a bite of their pumpkin bread that was super moist. But, the cookie I bought (brownie pecan chunkers; cookie topped with brownie bites) was dry. The cookie itself was moist and chewy, but the brownie bits that dominated the cookie were really dry. Overly sweet. Not impressed.

We had to get a vegan frosting for our daughter’s bday cake because she’s breastfeeding and her baby is showing signs of Lactose allergy. It tasted as good as if not better than the regular butter cream frosting! Superb!

I swear this place gets more delectable every time I visit.
Even your dog will be happy with dogsserts (dog desserts, duh).
Cookies, bars, cupcakes, and more galore! They basically take a regular old dessert and give it a little decadent spin. The cookie chunker is a pecan cookie that basically uses brownie chunks as «chocolate chips.» I’m all on board with that.
Top ingredients, top desserts, and top happy tummies! There will be no deserted desserts — not a crumb left.
No sharing allowed!

My family and I have been buying cakes and cupcakes from here for over 20 years. To this day, I couldn’t imagine buying a birthday cake from anywhere else. The cookies and breads are also fantastic! I will say this place is pricey, but definitely worth every penny!

After ordering my mom’s cake I called back 2 times to change my order and both times they were so helpful and gave me suggestions. When I went to pick it up yesterday I also bought 8 cupcakes. The girl was so helpful and friendly, I love that they help you bring it to your car. Very glad I came here for my mom’s birthday, everyone loved the cake and cupcakes.

I have a weakness for their gluten free banana cake! THEE best bakery in the South Bay area.

I love love love Icing on the Cake. It’s been a few years since I have been here due to being so busy and moving away from the area. I came back here recently and was met with wonderful customer service. Got two cupcakes and they didn’t disappoint. If only a girl like me didn’t have to watch her shape, I’d be here all the time.
Parking can be a pain since you’re in the downtown area however there are plenty of parking lots that surround the area. Thanks Icing on the Cake for all the yummy desserts!

Icing on the Cake is by far the best bakery in the South Bay and Peninsula, they are everything a real bakery should be! It’s a cute bakery nestled on the corner of Main Street in the cute town of Downtown Los Gatos. You definitely will not miss it, all you have to do is follow all the tons of people that pile in there. Once you walk inside the first thing that will come to your attention is that wonderful sweet smell of cakes being baked, that’s when you know you have walked into heaven. Then you will see cases full of various pastries and I love how it feels like you are walking into someones home, it just has that type of décor and feel to it.
This mecca of delectables has just about everything and will satisfy every sweet tooth. They have pound cakes, cake slices, cupcakes, loaf cakes, cookies, pies, brownies and even frosting shots. You kind of have to come in here with a game plan and knowing what you want or else you will ending up buying everything that looks good, something I am indeed guilty of. Everything somewhat has their own case and display to make browsing and choosing what you want a little easier. For example cupcakes are all together in once case, as are the cookies, while the bundt cakes are on the table tops in their own 3 tier display along with the rest of the loaf cakes and so on. The bakery also goes by the number system, so when you walk in you pick a number, browse and they will call your number when it is up. I think this is a very efficient system because it gets really crowded inside and you see a lot of people overlooking those who were there first and it could create chaos (people get crazy over their sweets and desserts lol).
All the desserts I have had here have been the best! I really enjoyed their Southern Red Velvet Cupcake because the cupcake itself is very moist and the cream cheese frosting is perfect and I like that they put the pecan on top. Their cookies are tasty as well and very large as are some of the other loaf cakes I’ve tried. But my all time favorite here is the Toasted Almond Pound Cake, it is so amazing. The cake is very moist and has such a strong but not overpowering almond flavor and the frosting and almond on top just make it that much better. One of the best pound cakes I’ve ever had, even better than my own lol.
This is definitely a bakery I will happily go out of my way for because the desserts are that good and just perfect. It’s probably best to go as soon as they open or at least before noon because they do get a bit busy. The prices are a little on the higher side but so worth it. This bakery is doing things right, they aren’t over frosting the cakes/​cupcakes, everything is baked fresh and you will smell it, they have a great formula because they are cranking out the most amazing and moist cakes ever.

Everything and I mean EVERYTHING I’ve had here is absolutely amazing! This is our go to for birthdays, baby, and bridal showers. Banana cake is out of this world! It’s a super cute bakery in Downtown Los Gatos, with cute little home and gift selections as well. I recommend this to EVERYONE and will continue to do so.

CAME here to power up on delicious cookies after our hike nearby! although they have lots of other options including cakes, cupcakes, pastries, etc.

Icing on the cake has been a family favorite for years. My current favorites are the sundae cupcake. They have a few different frostings and I don’t know which one they use for this one, but it’s delicious. It’s a slightly different from the vanilla buttercream. It’s just dreamy.

I called in this past Friday morning to order cupcakes for pick up at 10am (same day). I had never been here before so I checked out their website first to get an idea of what they had. Holy moly there was so much selection! I knew they wouldn’t have every single one available so I just called the store to find out what they had.
The woman on the phone was very friendly. Surprisingly, they had A LOT to choose from! So she suggested we do a random assortment for 24 cupcakes, so I did.
Every one of our employees said they were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We ended up buying little happy birthday sticks to add something extra. I had the one with an Oreo frosting and a bite of banana… so yummy!

This. This place is heaven.
You think I am joking? I dare you to walk into Icing on the Cake and not enjoy whatever you order. Even just the smell of baked goods, as you stroll across the street is enough to drive you into the shop.

Have always heard about this place, and so finally to have gotten a chance to try! It was bustling on a Saturday afternoon, and my friend and I picked up a number. Luckily it wasn’t a long wait, and I got to view all the yummy products until I decided on their carrot cake, banana nut bread, and an oatmeal cookie with walnuts. Everything I had was filled with walnuts, which was tasty, and love how they don’t skimp on anything. The carrot cake was one of the best I had, so moist, not too sweet, and full of delicious ingredients The oatmeal cookie was also amazing as well, and I can’t wait to go back and stock up on more goodies!

Have you ever heard the term kid in a candy store? When you walk into this bakery just change the word kid to adult and candy store to bakery and this is pretty much how you feel.
They’ve got a huge variety of sweets to satisfy your sweet tooth and it’s actually pretty overwhelming. I came here on a recommendation from a coworker, since we had a team event at the bocce ball court in Los Gatos. Boy was I glad I listened.
If I’m in there I would definitely be back here to try some more baked goods. This trip I picked up two cookies and three cupcakes.
The cupcakes I got were a good bargain as well since they were day old cupcakes and you get buy two get one free. We typically don’t eat the cupcakes we buy until the next day anyways so I figured a day old cupcake wouldn’t be bad. The flavor selection was much more limited but I had a black and tan which is chocolate with mocha frosting, A strawberry cupcake and a rocky road cupcake. I also got a brownie cookie which is basically a chocolate chip cookie where brownies are used instead of chocolate chips. I also got a Choco Cran cookie which my coworker highly recommended. This cookie is very moist and has white chocolate and milk chocolate chips as well as either cranberries or cherries I couldn’t tell. Nonetheless it is very moist and tasty.
They use a ticket system so don’t forget to grab a ticket when you walk in the door. Enjoy your baked goods people.

I’ve been wanting to come here for a long time. I mean if you look on their website it seems like there are countless options! And when I did finally make my way in here I still felt overwhelmed by the options despite the fact that it was the end of the day and they were sold out of items.
This place is a cookie dough lovers paradise! They even sell small containers of their eggless cookie dough for people like me who like it raw (oooh baby I like it raaaaaw).
I chose four cupcakes. Banana, Cookie Dough, Chocolate Bordeaux and the Chocolate Swirly Cake. My boyfriend got their classic bread pudding and I also picked up their cookie dough and smores bars :3
I honestly assumed most people were being a little dramatic when complaining about the amount of frosting… but HOLY SHIT! I swear the cupcake to frosting ratio is about even. There is a fucking mountain of the stuff… I think even if they took a quarter of the amount off it would still be more than enough! That being said, I would much rather have too much frosting than not enough. You can always scrape it off but can’t always add more.
Banana: This was good, but honestly I felt like it could have tasted more like bananas. The frosting was really good and I think would go better with the cake if it wasn’t so overpowering… I think for this case they should add a liiiiittle less frosting so that the banana can really shine… looks like their banana loaves would be the better option,
So if you couldn’t tell earlier, I LOVE cookie dough. I was a little worried this was just going to be a chocolate chip cookie cake. not cookie dough, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that this pretty much tasted exactly like a cookie dough cupcake! Good job!
My absolute favorite chocolate at Sees candy is the Bordeaux (although I usually get dark chocolate since it’s so sweet) and was ecstatic to see this in cupcake form… this was executed very well, tasted just like a Bordeaux! For those who don’t know what that is, Bordeaux is usually a chocolate truffle with a brown sugar filling with chocolate sprinkles.
The Chocolate Swirly cake was decent but mostly disappointing… super rich and fudgey with barely any filling. I seem to fail at finding a place that puts enough marshmallow filling in so maybe my expectations are too high but I feel that if they put more emphasis on the marshmallow cream versus the stupid thick chocolate topping it would have been MUCH better. Oh well. If you’re having a serious chocolate craving this will probably satisfy that.
Despite my hatred for raisins and bias that I believe they do not belong in baked goods they actually didn’t ruin the bread pudding for me! I was trying to avoid the raisins in my bite but got one anyways. Bread pudding is nice and moist and not overly sweet. Boyfriend seemed to really enjoy it however he couldn’t finish it.
One thing I did notice about the cakes was that they didn’t hold very well… as soon as I unwrapped them they started to crumble/​fall apart. This could be because the amount of frosting is too heavy for the cake.
The bars were probably my favorite. being that I did not feel the need to adjust anything in order to fully enjoy them. The cookie dough bar is probably too rich/​sweet for most… I mean It’s shortbread, caramel, thick cookie dough layer topped with chocolate. Needless to say I LOVED this bar and think other cookie dough lovers would appreciate it as well.
The smores bar was nicely balanced. Was probably the least sweet item that we picked up that day haha. There’s a nice amount of graham cracker, chocolate and «healthy» portion of marshmallows on top. If you want that real smores feel and you have a blow torch at home (like $ 10 at home depot) you can always «torch» the top to get the gooey marshmallow… or you know… you could just microwave it for about 10 seconds haha. But you risk melting the chocolate too much so be careful!
Overall I really enjoyed this barkey, it was fun picking out my items and trying them out. The workers were really sweet, patient and helpful as well. It would be nice if there were a little less frosting but that won’t stop me from trying their other cupcakes. I definitely do recommend this spot for anyone with a serious sweet tooth out there… and for you cookie dough lovers this is a MUST!

Office Holiday party + December birthdays of my coworkers = Icing on the Cake is a must.
I ordered the Banana Cake with cream cheese frosting few days prior to pick up so I don’t have to worry about anything but pick it up and not drop it. haha. The lady who took my order was very nice, polite and helpful about the details that I wanted on the cake; she suggested the funfetti sprinkles over the typical flower stuff around the «Happy Birthday» sign and glad I took her advice because it looked pretty awesome.
Pick up day came which was on Friday, came to the store and immediately greeted by the lady I talked to on the phone (I forgot her name but she was the one at the pick up registry section of the store), went to the back to get my cake order and off I go back to the office. And no, I didn’t drop the cake. haha!
Co-​workers were extremely happy about the cake… I love their cream cheese frosting. Coming back here to try their cupcakes.
