Nimbus Salon

Very disappointed. Decided to try this place partly because of the Unilocal ratings and partly because I had a coupon. Service was slow, but the worst was the stylist who didn’t listen to what I said and repeatedly asked me the same questions. Left with a dissatisfied feeling and can’t see any basis for the prices that are charged. Would not go back.

My family has been seeing Andrea Russell here for years. My daughter wanted to get her hair colored, and Andrea worked with her to arrive at a color that would not destroy my daughters hair. My daughter was delighted with the color and had gone back to have the same color done again. My son like most young boys hates to have his hair cut, yet since switching from «kid targeted places» to Andrea he no longer protests nearly as much, and is happier with the result.

Came to Nimbus before a trip because my regular stylist couldn’t fit me in. My stylist was super friendly and I had fun. After she did my color and curled it I was really happy with it! But later, I noticed a lot of random choppy pieces. I asked her to add more blonde, make the ombré start higher and add more highlights. She didn’t do this, basically just painted over where old blonde was. The worst was I paid double what I would have paid at my regular place. 300 $ for a cut and color, which wouldn’t bother me, except what I got was worth a fraction of that price. Oh well!

Kenna is an artiste! I came in with long, messy hair and fuzzy beard, and left looking like a new man.

Eileen is Awesome! I have baby fine, thin, blond hair that is color treated. My hair is so sensitive that I have to treat it with the most gentle chemicals. Eileen did a wonderful job. She recommended the best products and listened and did exactly what I wanted with my cut! I am so excited to show it off! She is amazing! I would definitely recommend her for a hair cut.

Sarah Hines is fantastic. I have problem hair with fast growing grey and she has done an incredible job developing a color plan with me and trying new techniques. Also it has come out very silky and smooth. If feels wonderful. Sarah is fast and gets you in and out. Nimbus is a nice salon– the stylists all professional and interact well together. Desk staff friendly. Thanks Sarah for taking time and developing a hair process with me. My hair looks amazing!

I went in to this location August 23^rd and saw Stephanie & she is just amazing. I went in for a up-​do for a work event. It was last minute and I was so happy I was able to get an appointment. I went in and gave her 110% creative freedom, I have medium to short hair and was looking for something that was classy. It was probably my best experience VERY at a Aveda Salon. Just the vibe you get from walking in is so welcoming and its very hard I feel to find a good place where you can have a actual conversation with your stylist and they try to get to know you and treat you like a human being not just a money in their pocket. I will defiantly be referring my friends and family to this salon.

Dana truly knows her business. After years of being unhappy with my hair, she has made me a believer in the right stylist, salon and products. For years I thought my hair was to blame for the way it took color and the way it felt afterwards. Despite talking to my stylists, it was always too dark, one-​dimensional and felt dry and brittle after. I took a deep breath and tried Dana. I left in tears – for the very best of reasons. My hair looks AWESOME. Lovely warm color that makes me look brighter and younger with dimension – I see some reds and golds woven artfully throughout. Even better, my hair looks and feels shiny, soft and healthy. She really LOOKED at my hair and made observations about how it had been colored in the past and designed an approach to address the issues.
I also have to say that I get intimidated by ‘cool’ salons. Not a problem at Nimbus. While it certainly is very cool – right on Main, awesome décor, from the moment you walk in the door, every person is warm, welcoming and genuine. No arty-​snobs here. Finally, I LOVE that Dana wasn’t juggling me with another client or two – she focused solely on me during my appointment time and I got out on time, which I really appreciate. And there is no hard sell. Dana helped me pick a couple products to try without pressuring me to buy 8 bottles of stuff.
All in all, a wonderful experience. I just wish I had found Dana and Nimbus years ago!
I’m not sure how to rate the pricing. While it was one of my more expensive salon visits, what I got out of it was worth every penny, plus because my color is better I won’t have to touchup as often…and I feel great – and that’s priceless.

I have been getting my hair colored and styled by Eileen and I LOVE her! She’s taken me from a washed out blonde to a fun ombré blonde and back to a more natural bronde with bayalage highlights. I always just bring her pictures of what I’m thinking and she far exceeds any expectations I had.
The salon is super cute and clean and their products always smell amazing. I couldn’t recommend Eileen more!

Not sure why I waited so long to come in to Nimbus. I saw Janis and I needed a cut after 6 months of no haircut. What a treat to get a scalp massage to start. Loved it. Liked the booking system online makes for easy scheduling. Haircut was more than I could have asked for. Parking is the only drawback so you just have to plan to circle for pairing as it’s just whatever you can find in town. Late hours is a plus. Overall loved it and will be back!!! Thanks Janis.

Well in order to appreciate this review one has to be in connection with the wife’s feelings as to how my hair is «suppose» to look/​feel. I have been with a great friend, Cari Skinner, for many years. And she knows I am really assinine when it comes to my loyalty to her and my hair.
Needless to say, I am exuberantly exhilarated. I walked in only to find EVERY ONE of the stylist booked. So I, without knowing, was at the mercy of Ms Demetra Jennings, the OWNER. She obviously felt sorry for me as I was a bit distraught with how long my hair had gotten and how the hilites my sweetpea enjoys were that of a tornados nest.
She took me in and showed me the house which was decorated phenomenally !! The place was right out of Nate Berkus mind. So simple yet sophisticated !! So eloquent yet homey. Stunning for this country boy lost in phoo-​phoo $$$$ land.
She did an outstanding job on my hair. Nothing short of what my gal Cari would do. Colors matched perfect for me and my complexion !!!
All I can say Ms Demetra is — I will be back. I might have to park my coach 10 blocks away, but I will return !! You are truly GREAT @ what you do & own !!!

Kenna is the best. If I let anyone else cut my hair they find a way to mess it up. Kenna knows how to cut! Parking is hard to find at busy hours so make sure to get to your appointment pretty early. Last time I went it took me 15 minutes to find parking. There’s a coffee shop next door that will give you some ice water too if it’s hot. If you live near the LG Creek Trail you can bike/​jog to get your haircut because Nimbus is near one of the trail exits (right at the wooden bridge that corners around). I’ve ridden my bike to get my hair cut before using that trail. Make sure to ask for Kenna if you want someone trustworthy.

Sara Hines is not just a hair stylist she is truly an artist. She is professional courteous and knows what she is doing. I enjoy her at every visit. I look forward to being in her chair, she listens to what I’m wanting and she delivers, Effortlessly! Unlike in the past I trust Sara with my hair. I walk out of that salon feeling gorgeous every time! Thank you Sara!

This salon is amazing! It is tucked in the middle of downtown Los Gatos and has this adorable shabby chic ambiance to it that I fell in love with. I’ve seen Sara Hines twice now and I love the results! She took me from coppery red to deep red balayage that I can’t get enough of. I highly recommend calling her up; I’m pretty shy and usually find small chat with hairdressers forced and awkward, but Sara is so warm and funny which makes the experience that much better. Wonderful work, and I always leave the salon refreshed and looking forward to the next appointment (:

It’s no accident that I’ve been going to get my hair done by Andrea for 11 years. I started to go see her when I was 14. I was nervous, getting highlights for the first time, and she reassured me that she would start out with very natural highlights to see how I liked it, and we would go from there. My hair turned out exactly how she said it would and ever since then I have had complete confidence and trust in her. For 11 years my hair has turned out nothing short of beautiful every time I leave her chair. Sometimes I bring her pictures because she loves to visualize what I am asking her to do, but most of the time I tell her to do what she thinks will look best and 100% of the time it turns out great. She’s amazing at cut and color, she’s very personable, and she takes her job seriously. She always listens to what I want and gives 110% every time. When I find something good I stick with it. I’ve been going to her for 11 years, that’s saying something! Go see her! You won’t be disappointed!

I love love! The way Sara Hines can create exactly what I want and more. She LISTENS to what I want and then asks questions and provides advice. I have never been disappointed and I am one picky .

I recently saw Dana at Nimbus Salon for color correction after a horrible highlight/​lowlight experience. I’ve been a natural dirty blonde all my life and you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to find a stylist who can achieve a bright blonde highlight while maintaining dimension. You either turn out grey, platinum one-​color blonde, or green. After seeing a stylist in San Francisco and paying an arm and a leg, my hair was basically green and completely drab. Disgusting.
I called Nimbus and they got me in right away. Dana took the time to sit down and really understand what I wanted to achieve. We went through pictures I brought in and looked at various swatches to make sure we were on the same page. She was realistic about the color correction expectations as she did not want to destroy my blonde hair.
Dana achieved the most amazing honey (lowlight) and vanilla (highlight) color combination and perfect dimension. My color was bright and shiny again. I immediately got compliments on my color and can’t wait to go back in 6 weeks to add a bit more color.
I feel like I’ve finally found a stylist and I can trust, recommend, and continue seeing in the future. I would HIGHLY recommend Dana to any blondes out there.

I went to Nimbus Salon (to see Linda) on the recommendation of a friend. I’m really protective of my hair after having it cut only by my aunt for the first 20 years of my life, so I’m always really hesitant to visit someone new.
Linda, however, made me feel very comfortable! She was so nice, and was conversational in a friendly, relaxing way (as opposed to those stylists that are super annoying… we’ve all had those!). I knew kind of what I wanted, and Linda had helpful suggestions for how to make the cut really work. At the end of my visit, my hair looked fabulous and I felt fabulous! Needless to say, I’ll be returning to her as long as I stay in the area.

Decided to be SUPER impulsive the other day, as I have not had my hair cut in two years! Why was yesterday the day? Simply because I was walking around Los Gatos and saw a ‘walk ins welcome’ sign. Done and done.
Walked in and asked if they had any availability. Within 5 minutes I was getting my hair washed and cut by Dana. This was a very scary process as I had not gotten my hair cut for two years and have had some horrible salon experiences.
Dana was awesome though. She started out by asking what I liked about my hair, what I didn’t, what I was looking for etc. She really got a feel for my style and what I wanted in a hair cut. She was really nice and easy to talk to also. Will def be back, hopefully sooner than 2 years from now!
