Jenny was amazing! I’m usually disappointed after haircuts and I’ve learned that you can’t expect someone to get it exactly how you want it. Plus, I’m pretty indecisive so even I’m not sure what I want most of the time. But, by the time I walked out of the salon I knew that I had the exact look I was going for. Jenny took time to explain the steps and I got everything I didn’t know I wanted. She was able to bring my long black hair to a multi-​toned mauve lob in less than 4 hours and getting a good colorist isn’t easy. I’ve had my fair share of color mishaps but Jenny was definitely worth the hour long drive. Thanks for the recommendation Unilocal

Let it be known that if I could give the amazing Emma Klabo 10 whole stars, I definitely would! This is going to be a joint review for my past couple of visits with Emma.
An old coworker referred me to Emma when I mentioned that I wanted to change my hair before my 20^th birthday. I hadn’t had my hair done professionally in years, and was living off boxed dyes from Target. I know, tragic. Anyway, I wanted to do something like an ombré, and opted to save myself the trouble of doing it at home and booked an appointment with Emma. The salon was nice and clean and had a cute charm about it. I’ll spare you the minute details of my visit, but I will let you know that ever since that day, I had never let anyone make my drastic hair decisions come true except Emma. I originally wanted to play it safe and go with a normal brown to blonde, but Emma suggested I go for something lighter and ashier. My hair came out exactly the way I wanted it to be, even though I didn’t know what I wanted to start with! My next visit, we decided to go even lighter. It came out ashy silver/​white, and trust me, the compliments were rolling in every time I went out!
The next time I had decided to make a drastic change was when I told Emma I had wanted a black to blue ombré for my 21^st birthday. I didn’t know how it would turn out since I had never done anything like that before. Emma asked if I had anything specific I wanted for my hair, but I told her that I trusted her decisions and that she could do what she thought was best. I believe my exact words were «live your life, Emma.» Let me just say, that was probably one of the best things I had said to her because even until this day, people still tell me my hair looks amazing. Not even just my friends, but random people on the streets, at the store, in the club, etc. Emma suggested that instead of going straight to the light blue I wanted that we go with something a little bit more purple and darker to allow it to fade. She was right, my hair faded beautifully into the shade that I wanted!
Aside from achieving amazing results every time, my visits with Emma have never been boring. Emma tries to involve you in every step of your hair transformation, and will ask for your opinion and decision almost every step of the way. She’s also very enthusiastic and bubbly, and can spark a conversation about almost anything under the sun. She will also give you tips on how to maintain your color and restore your hair to a normal texture after coloring! I have recommended many friends to Emma and they have all come back to tell me that they love her! I am already planning what I want to do on my next visit with Emma! If you’re looking for an amazing time getting your hair done and amazing results, Emma’s your girl!

Emma at Pelo rocks my world. She is creative, listens to what you want and works her magic. Reasonably priced, amazing talent. She is a genius with color, and super sweet. I’ve never gotten compliments on my hair like I do since making Emma my one & only!

Kellie was my stylist and she is AWESOME. I would highly recommend her! She is so sweet and friendly, listens to what you want, knows what she’s doing, and gives a truly reasonable price. She even blended two colors for me to help my hair get where I wanted it to be! I’d love to go back to her when I’m in the area again to go lighter.
As for the salon, it’s very clean and calming. It’s easy to find and there is even guest wifi :).
Recommendations:
1. Book with Kellie in advance to get your spot, ideally 2 – 4 weeks ahead.
2. FYI: Walk-​ins may not get lots of luck.

People of Unilocal,do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Emma – she’s absolutely amazing. Most of the reviews here – as with most salons I’m sure – are written by women, so I’d like to offer my humble male perspective on why Emma is so fantastic. I’ve been going to Emma for a couple of years now, but before that I usually just had my girlfriend cut my hair – typically just a quick at-​home buzz cut. Being that I have thin hair and an uncooperative hairline, I was really unsure about attempting to do anything other than habitually chopping it all off until my girlfriend suggested seeing Emma. I didn’t have any expectations since I was unsure what was even possible with thin hair like mine, but man I wish I had gone to see her sooner. I just told her to go for what she thinks would look best, and she did an absolutely amazing job. Went with a clean side-​part on top with a close trim on the sides, and I could not have been happier. Seeing myself in the mirror after that first cut was like night and day – and a real confidence booster.
Emma is always incredibly friendly and great with advice for maintaining your hair. She has been especially great when it comes to working with my girlfriend who, because of unfortunate medical circumstances, sometimes loses some of her hair. Experiencing intermittent hair loss as a woman in her twenties has been incredibly tough for her, but Emma has been incredible in working with her and has (in my girlfriend’s opinion) performed nothing short of a miracle at times.

Kellie is amazing! She listens to what you want and she will bring it to life! I am currently trying to lighten my hair and she was very informative on how many sessions this may take because we all know we don’t want fried hair. I’ve also previously seen her for a haircut as well. I was pretty vague on what I wanted but she worked her magic and I loved it. Most importantly I wanted to keep the length and she did and created something that goes well with my face. Thank you Kellie! I’ll be seeing you next month!

Emma colored my hair & literally burned my scalp. It’s been almost a year since I went but I never wanted to write a review because she was super sweet & her price was very good for the color I was trying to get.
I wanted silver/​grey hair but she bleached my head (touching the scalp) & then put the color mixture which made my head feel like it was peeling off, I was so desperate to get gray hair I sucked it up & waited for the rinse off. After the whole process the color pay off was nice & all, my scalp on the other hand felt very weird, I felt feeling little lumps but I kept thinking it was just color or I had dandruff, 2 days passed by & my scalp was SCABBING! I texted her the photos & she said «it happens to some for people who are sensitive to hair chemicals. «
NOTE: the older lady that works there looked at my head & whispered something to Emma & just told me «you’ll live haha» but my excitement of my new hair color I didn’t bother worrying.
I don’t think the cheap price was worth getting a burned scalp, if I knew my scalp was going to end up this way, I wouldn’t have paid at all.

I’ve been wanting to do something unique and eye catching with my hair so I decided to go grey. A friend recommended me to see Kellie.
Yes parking can be annoying cause it’s Los Gatos but it’s so worth it. The girls there are all so sweet, welcoming and outgoing.
First she had to bleach my hair (which I was expected to make my hair literally break since it’s so thing), but she knew exactly what she was doing and used the right products.
When I told Kellie what I wanted she didn’t use some ordinary box dye; she created a color for me by mixing 5 together.
She cut off all my dead ends and gave me beautiful hair (that doesn’t feel like it’s been bleached!!)

Went to Jenny for a balayge and toning! I am happy to say that I am very satisfied with my results. Money’s worth!
I actually didn’t know what to expect when coming in, but she greeted me immediately and got me seated right away, and we discussed on what i wanted, and how she was going to do so. She’d also tell me what she would be doing before going in with the dye which is very helpful since I’ve had countless hair dye disaster encounters. We also kept on going conversations, being able to talk comfortably adds on to my satisfactory of this visit! She also threw in some tips on how to keep my hair from being so brassy, cause my hair tends to fade to an orange after a while from dyes.
My hair turned out great, and I love it! Can’t wait to flaunt it, she also made it more soft and bouncy versus my dry and flag hair!
Overall, she made it a great experience and was so great! ⁵⁄₅ would recommend! Also the music here is great and on point!

Emma is a great girl. so much fun to talk to. Very calm and sweet. However, she did not do a good job on my hair. she might be good at hair coloring but she def is not good at hair cuts. my hair has scissor line all over it. It looks like I have cut my own hair. I def regret going to her. Thats unfortunate because she is a great girl.
she was in rush and didn’t pay attention at all. even tho she asked exactly what I want and I made sure she understood what I want. won’t go back to her. I won’t recommend her for hair cuts. One star just for her personality.

Went to Jenny today to get a long awaited hair cut + balayage. Needless to say she did a fantastic job!!! I honestly went in not knowing really what I wanted and she took what little direction I gave her and made me a very happy girl! Her and all the other girls in the salon are such joys to be around. 5 Stars for my new hair stylist Jenny!
PS– The salon is tucked away on the corner of Blossom Hill and University Ave. parking can be difficult to find so maybe leave a little earlier than expected. Then again I came on a busy, hot Friday when everyone is out and about. Totally worth the drive and the parking hassle though!

I get more and more obsessed with my hair every time I go to see Emma.
Having recently moved back to the Bay Area, I needed to find a reliable hair stylist. After a few traumatizing experiences, I found Emma through mutual friends and through Instagram. She is amazing. She really makes sure to ask you relevant questions as to what you want and she consistently checks in with you as she works on your hair to make sure you guys are on the same page and that you are getting the hair you really want. When I first went to her, I made small changes to my hair since I was afraid I would not like the result. But on my most recent trip, I decided to let her chop off ~5 inches of my hair, dye it, and do an ashy dark blonde balalyage all over. I told her I never curl my hair and that it is always naturally straight so I wanted a balayage that looked good on straight hair. I was a little concerned since almost every picture I found online of balayage was styled and curled. Well, It turned out AMAZING. It was a big change from my previously dark hair but it still looked soo natural and everything was blended so well. Both the cut and color suited me perfectly! Emma really knew what I wanted and what I was looking for and she executed it better than I thought possible. My hair honestly turned out better than the pictures I showed her of what I wanted my hair to look like. Now every time I pass a mirror, I have to take a minute and admire my hair haha. Some other pluses? Emma is super nice and easy to talk to and her prices are affordable! Don’t hesitate to contact her and make an appointment!

Met Emma through a bunch of mutual friends and decided to go to her for a balayage/​ombré last year. I fell in LOVE with her work. Like other reviewers said, you can check out her work by looking her up on Instagram by searching #hairbyemmaklabo. She is amazing. I had already gotten a balayage/​ombré done at another salon, but I wanted a smoother transition between colors and a lighter blonde at the bottom. The end result was beyond my expectations. She knows how to make sure that your blonde doesn’t turn out brassy and yellow (Ick) and uses toner to tone down all that ugly brassiness. AND it was affordable!
She’s literally the queen of ombré.
I kept going to Emma to touch my balayage and lighten the blonde for almost the past year. I’m the type of girl to get really bored of her hair and always want to change it, so this time around, I decided to chop off all my hair and go blonde ALL the way. When I texted Emma, even she was surprised at my decision. We went with a choppy bob above my shoulders and a toned & cool blonde with lavender & random blue pieces throughout. We both fell in LOVE with it. I’ve already gotten so many compliments on it! It was fun for both of us to get creative and play around with my hair without much direction. I like how throughout the entire process, she kept me in the loop with what she was doing with my hair. I can’t wait to see what she does to my hair next! I’ve never gone to any else in the salon, but the other ladies are sweethearts and always making sure I’m comfortable. I’ve seen some of their work, and they’re all great as well.

TWO WORDS: EMMA KLABO! She is the absolute best and I wish I could teleport her to wherever I am to do my hair. My go to for hair coloring and my haircut for sure!

The main reason why I love her is because she fills you in and asks you questions every step of the way to make sure you’re getting what you really want. This is great for people like me who are so hesitant and scared to change their hair or do drastic changes, but I always let Emma chop off all my hair or make it go from brown to blonde… Just cus I know it’ll turn out good. Also! Her prices are soooo affordable for the quality of work that she does!

What can I say?! Emma is great! Thank you so much!
I came to her desperate for an ombré fix. This was my problem: My previous ombré took 2 sessions total at a whopping $ 360 and DIDN’T come out like I wanted it to. It was harshly contrasted and the transition was not smooth at all. Not to mention, the «ash blonde» I originally wanted faded out super fast into a brassy color that I hated. I couldn’t wear my hair straight EVER because the transition was bad and it just never looked good straight anymore.
Emma fixed all of these issues! After having spent so much money already on my hair, I was pretty picky and I asked her to soften the transition between the contrasting colors of my ombré, add some highlights all over, lighten my root color so that the contrast would not be so dramatic, and to bring my tips back to a light ashy blonde color.
To get my tips back into an light blonde color again, she re-​bleached my hair and then she lightened the hair around the crown of my head, still leaving some of my natural root color so that when it grew out more, it wouldn’t look obvious and I wouldn’t have to stop in every other month for touch-​ups. She made it so that my hair would be low-​maintenance! Then she toned it and left a temporary cute lavender tint in my hair just for fun (: which she promised would wash out and fade into a silver blonde and then into the blonde color that I had always desired! The lavender was definitely fun while it lasted!
Emma was super sweet, really nice, and the thing I like best about her is that she’s actually honest with your hair. She talked me through everything that she was doing, told me what to expect from my hair after she was done, and even said that if I didn’t like what I had, to come back within a week and she would fix it without any additional charges. SHE’S SO NICE!
Her price for my ombré was less than what I expected to pay. She’s extremely reasonable! It was a pleasant surprise for me, as I was already on a budget after splurging for my birthday. I will definitely be coming back to her from now on, and I’ve already recommended her to all of my friends! Yay for Emma!

I found Emma through mutual friends getting their hair done from Emma on Instagram. I’ve been on the edge for so long on coloring my hair, since I cherish my natural haircolor after putting a hold on hair dyes for approximately 10 years. Seeing my friend’s lovely makeovers from Emma, I decided to turn to Emma to give my hair a change.
I called the shop to contact Emma and we continued our communication through text messages for a consultation and a visual for her to see how I wanted my hair done. Emma is really flexible to squeeze me in on the following Saturday, which is great. When I arrived for my appointment, she made sure how I wanted my hair exactly done. I wanted the look where you can tell there’s change, but not a dramatic bold statement so Emma did a ombré and balayage highlights of caramel based with light tips at the end. It is perfectly how I wanted! She’s very friendly to talk about anything and everything while getting your hair done. She’d help you with directions and tips on how to maintain your hair — even you happen to forget and ask her again through text, she’d still help answer your questions or concerns.
Why wait for months to schedule an overpriced ombré or balayage when you can come to Pelo Style and Go for Emma for a quality as great and affordable. (I was quoted for a minimum of $ 200 for a shoulder length hair that required 3 months wait at another business).

Emma is definitely the best and probably most popular stylist in the Bay Area for ombré. I was referred to her by my bf’s cousin and then found her instagram (hellomsemma) where I was able to see lots of examples of her ombré work! Even though it was a pretty far drive for me, I thought it’d be worth it :)
Her schedule is usually packed so make sure you call way in advance to make an appointment! I was super nervous since I’d had plain black hair my whole life. During the appointment, she was super friendly and talkative which made me feel comfortable. I am totally clueless when it comes to hair stuff but she answered lots of my questions. She is also super affordable! I researched lots of different salons when I decided I wanted to color my hair and they were all pricier.
I will always go to Emma for any hair color needs! :)

It was so easy to make an appointment with her and she responds sooo quick! I came by my first time to get my a-​line ombré and was one of the last ones to leave the salon, but she never rushed my hair. I contacted Emma the next day when I realized it wasn’t light enough and she penciled me in right away! I came out loving my new color!
A month later I needed another change and of course I came to Emma. I love that she explains to me what color she’s putting on my hair even though I don’t understand her lingo. Again, still loving my new do!
After my third time seeing her, I can confirm she tries her best to please her customers and I’m so grateful for that. Oh! Did I mention she’s so affordable?!
