Description

Specialties

Combining a reverence for tradition and a philosophy of winemaking as an artistic expression, Artiste limited edition wines are labeled with gorgeous works of art.

As you sip and stroll around our comfortable Tasting Studios in Los Olivos (Santa Barbara County) we encourage you to share with us your own impressions of our wines and art. Express yourselves through painting on our community canvases, or by sketching and writing in our art journals! What’s your Impression?

History

Established in 2002.

From the day Artiste Winery and Tasting Studio opened in the Santa Ynez Valley, club members and guests have commented about how creatively engaging our 1880’s working Impressionist art studio is. From the canvases and art journals where people can paint or draw, to the paint-splattered floors and bright yellow walls adorned by numerous paintings by local artists, Artiste continues to enthrall visitors from all over the world.

Each quarter, Artiste releases two, artfully crafted, unique «Old-world style» wine blends. Setting the tone for our wine, exquisite hand-wax-topped bottles showcase beautiful new impressionist painted labels from the brushes of our featured artist. With each new release we invite friends, members and newcomers to our highly anticipated signature art & wine release party. It is here that you get the first chance to savor our wonderful wine and to view our beautiful artwork.

Meet the Business Owner

Bion R.

Business Owner

Bion Rice’s career in the wine industry bagan in the early 90’s at his family’s winery, Sunstone, where he rose to the role of President and General Manager, participating in every aspect of the operation, from the sciences of viticulture and oenology to marketing, distribution, finance and administration.

It was during the harvests of 1997 to 2002 that Bion discovered his passion for winemaking and the importance of using ones olfactory senses more instinctively (less clinically), and how to blend wines to achieve balance, grace and power.

The more Bion tasted wines from the wine regions of France, Italy, and Spain the more he began to appreciate the art of blending, or assemblage, and decided that Artiste Winery would be completely devoted to the art of blending wines. His ultimate goal is to produce infinitely beautiful cuvees that are much more than merely the sum of their parts.
