We are a family owned winery nestled in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Because we are small, we are able to be intimately involved in every step, carefully nurturing our unique wines from grape, to barrel, to bottle. Come sample our unique, award winning old-​world, Bordeaux style wines at our recently opened tasting room in the heart of Los Olivos. We look forward to pouring for you!

History

Established in 2008.

J Ludlow Vineyard is set in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley, CA. The owners, Allan and Jane Jones, developed an interest in wine at Westerly Stud Farms, a magnificent ranch in Happy Canyon with a history as rich and flavorful as J Ludlow’s wines. Built in 1966 by Fletcher Jones, a Renaissance man with interests ranging from horses to computers to art, Westerly Stud Ranch is in the heart of Southern California wine country. If you visit the newly opened J Ludlow tasting room, you’ll notice the photos on the wall from this ranch. As the owners begin their quest to grow exceptional, estate grapes on Westerly Stud, Allan and Jane continue to personally source the highest quality grapes from Santa Ynez Valley and Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, producing delightful and memorable wines.

Jane Jones believes that a dedication to the simple processes and great taste and sheer enjoyment of wine are reasons why the Jones family entered to the wine world. This dedication is paying off with a slew of awards in recent years from some of the premier wine competitions in California.

Long Beach, CA
Just went here this past weekend for a wedding party wine tasting and was pleasantly surprised. Although small, and no bathroom included (it seems the whole town is equipped that way) it was quite charming and the staff was so friendly. Will definitely return whenever I’m in the area next! Also, be sure to talk to Tammy (about anything) she was delightful and knowledgable. Definitely made the visit warmer :)

Not bad. The tasting room has stools, a large seating area if they bar is full. Tammy certainly didn’t look friendly, but chat her up because she is very nice and smart with a good sense of humor. As for the wines on the flight, the sav blanc was «not our favorite», but the merlot and rose were great (we walked out with a bottle of the latter). Bonus for being groupon-​friendly, being centrally located and donating to an autism. There were definitely 246 corks in that bucket.

Wine: decent selection of pretty common varietals with a nice reserve it felt of wines kept over from past years. Love that they use some profits and a whole wine to support autism.
Service and location: good knowledgeable and attentive service. 2 for 1 tasting was an added treat. Great backyard.

Wines were great. People were nice. They had a guy playing some live music. Atmosphere was a little bland but this is definitely a good place to hit while you’re in town and utilize the Unilocal deal.

One of the only Los Olivos wineries that specializes in Bordeau style blends. The range of blends they offer should suite most palates. They had a great 2 – 1 tasting deal on the day we visited and were super friendly.

Wonderful and inexpensive wines. The wines are crisp, fresh and delicious. They are all considered table wines. The owners of this establishment, who I met, are very warm and able to explain the grapes, where they come from and their involvement in charity that assists children with autism.
They are a British couple who appear to have a passion for wine and are not wine snobs in any sense of the word.
I would highly recommend coming to this place and having the taste and maybe picking up a nice bottle of Jane, the one I liked the most, named after the owner, Jane Ludlow!

The gal helping us was great! It was early enough so we had all her attention. She was very knowledgeable of all the wines, where they came from, the grapes, how their made, etc.
will return here because of the great experience we had.
It is located at the corner right in front of the flag pole (when you’re in Los olivos, you’ll know what I’m talking about)
Parking is available on the street.
It is a very welcoming location and it looks like you’re coming home and are greeted by a glass of your favorite wines.

I love the wine and feel of this tasting room. Will come here every time. I have tasted at most of the wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley over the last 5 years and this is on my top 5 list. Can’t wait to open my next bottle!

The wine here is nearly undrinkable, and that is saying a lot when it was not the first tasting room we visited that day. I bought a livingsocial deal with some friends which included tastings and a bottle of wine, but I now see why it was such a good deal. We could not finish any of the wines and hardly wanted to take home a bottle (which may I add… was not a wine we were even able to try and was stored in the restroom). On the plus side, the owners were very friendly and the ambiance was nice, which are the only reasons this review was given 2 stars.
