So after having such a horrible experience a week ago, We received a phone call from the owner asking for us to give his restaurant another chance and said he would address the staff regarding the issues we had. What a difference a great server makes! I mean we all know that but Natalie was fantastic. She was the right kind of attentive and the food this time was really really tasty. We were very appreciate of the opportunity Café Mimosa provided us to make it right.

A Chinese-Vietnamese-Japanese combo that really should take some Adderall and focus. I’ve never had their Japanese, but their Chinese is a two-star, close-to-Panda-Express experience, while their Vietnamese is a solid four stars, and five stars for lunch in the summer when you can sit out on the beautiful back patio and eat phở among friends. Really friendly staff with a huge, 25%-of-this-is-good menu.

I’ve been to Café Mimosa several times. Well, let me rephrase that… I’ve gotten takeout several times. Café Mimosa tries to be many things: Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Sushi, etc. I really think it is all fairly ok for what it is with some items being better than others. The good thing is that if you are ordering with multiple people, there is probably something that everyone can find to satisfy them. The appetizers are quite good, specifically, the potstickers and egg rolls. You can’t really go wrong with those. For entrees, my biggest challenge is always figuring out what to get. The menu is so overwhelming and I’ve had some not so good dishes. I’ve finally settled on the Vietnamese noodles with chicken or Sesame Chicken. Both are good and satisfy my craving for this type of food. Meals range from $ 10 – 14 depending on what you get. The portions are huge so I typically get at least two meals out of one entrée. The best thing about Café Mimosa is that you can order online and they will deliver or you can pick it up. We are within walking distance so Mimosa is often a last minute decision when we are hungry and don’t want to cook or go out and eat. If you do eat in, the restaurant is really big and is actually nice to eat in. I just don’t do that very often. If you’re craving this type of food, I recommend it!

I’m continually amazed at the breadth of Café Mimosa’s menu. They offer Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese dishes, including sushi. Sorting through all of the options is like reading a Tolstoy novel. Can a place really be good at all of those things? Well, Mimosa mostly pulls it off. I’ve only had their sushi once, and it was just OK. I normally stick to the Vietnamese rice noodles or Chinese dinners. The Vietnamese dishes are good and flavorful, though not quite as good as what you’ll find in the South End at places like Vietnam Kitchen. The Chinese dishes are pretty standard stuff and not likely to change your opinion of traditional offerings like Kung Pao chicken and whatnot. With that said, there’s still something very comforting about having all of those Asian delights available under one roof. And I love that Café Mimosa not only delivers but has a very convenient online ordering system(that can also be used for pickup orders). There’s little better on a rainy, cold or just plain lazy night than jumping on the laptop and ordering some Chinese or Vietnamese food that will be ready in 10 minutes. If you actually choose to dine in here, they have a big restaurant with an atmosphere that’s sort of chic without being pretentious. And there’s a large, lovely patio out back that is still one of the best-kept secrets in the Highlands. Most dishes are about $ 10. Will your mind be blown by this culinary experience? Probably not. But Café Mimosa delivers exactly what you’d expect.

Totally unexpected name for a Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese restaurant. Maybe the name suppose to be ironic. The interior is old but large for groups. The food is not bad, I have not had Chinese food in a long time so I’m a little bias. I ordered sushi which was pretty good and had Chinese appetizers. My friend had Walnut shrimp with steam rice. It was good and a large portion but for me the sauce was too sweet. I recommend the restaurant especially if you just want decent, greasy Chinese food on a Friday night.

I tried this place twice and both times it was below average. The Singapore mei fun isn’t mei fun. I’m not an expert, but«mei fun» is a type of rice noodle. When you use a thicker noodle(which is suspiciously like spaghetti), you really can’t call it mei fun. The mei fun is also supposed to be full of egg, pork, shrimp, and beef; a kind of kitchen sink dish. Café Mimosa’s offering is really skimpy on the meat. The other things we got – pad Thai, general Tso’s, eggrolls – were dry and forgettable. Unfortunately, the Highlands has NO decent delivery Chinese. And unless Café Mimosa gets its crap together, that doesn’t look like it’ll change.

To the management: Please make sure that if a tofu dish is ordered, there are not several pieces of shredded chicken in the dish. Most people that order tofu, order it for a reason. Other than that, I have never had a bad experience here. I’ve never had an unfriendly or inattentive server. Big portions, which I love. I highly recommend the lemongrass tofu… Just make sure there aren’t strips of meat in it.

Mimosa Café is my answer to the common«how is it already 8pm, I’m still working and getting hangry» fiasco. Since I’ve never actually eaten at the actual restaurant, this review is solely based on the takeout experience. I absolutely love the menu — there’s so much to choose from and they hit on many of my favorite Asian cuisines. And the best part is that they have dishes that other menus are missing — Singapore rice noodles, Vietnamese bun, etc. Most importantly, the portions are huge and the food is always hot and packaged efficiently with all of the appropriate sauces. Seriously, this is important. Forget the Asian sauces and all is lost. It happens way too often with other takeout options. The only thing that’s preventing 5 stars is the ordering experience. I appreciate their attempt to have online ordering, but sadly it’s not the best user experience. I feel as if there could be better descriptions and photos. Not to mention, there are areas for customizing the dish options, but they never seem to work for me. With these fixes it would be an epic system. If you call it’s A+, I just really like to order online. So, if you’re looking for fast and tasty takeout, check out Café Mimosa. They’ll certainly get you out of your hangry state!

If you are looking for greasy, chinese take-out go no further. The fact that they deliver is the only reason I ever eat from here. And every time, I say never again. Somehow I keep coming back because of those nights Im too lazy to drive anywhere… Vegetarians, they have a ton of options. My favorite being the sesame tofu and orange tofu. Their dishes are not in any way healthy, but boy is it delicious. If you do need a lighter option, their lemongrass noodle dishes are plentiful and fresh. But be aware that they have fish sauce pretty much everywhere on the vegetarian menu. Their vegetarian spring rolls come with fish sauce, all of their lemongrass noodle dishes, etc. It comes on the side with delivery, but every time it spills all over the bag. When I order the lemongrass veg spring roll dish, I use hoison sauce as a replacement to the fish sauce. I think Im officially done with them though. On my last delivery, I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. 3 out of the 5 were pork. This is not okay. They don’t offer a smaller quantity of spring rolls, so I shelled out $ 7 dollars for 5. Ultimately I ended up paying $ 3.50 a roll since over half of them were not what I ordered. From now on, Ill order delivery from elsewhere or get off my butt to pick up the good chinese.

I love the atmosphere and the décor. The food is delicious. Sushi and Chinese food under 1 roof. Try the Singapore Sling with Vodka. Thank me later!

The food was great the only thing that bothered me was that the server forgot to get my drink and forgot the spoons for our desert.

Sigh… What a disappointment. It was a cold night, and I was so looking forward to a hot bowl of yummy Phở. It looked amazing when it came out, with an overflowing dish of the traditional garnishes. But sadly, my expectations did not meet the experience. The fresh basil and bean sprouts were lovely. The lime a bit small, but satisfactory, but usual accompanying hot pepper(usually a fresh jalapeño) was missing from the garnish. And the most important thing … The broth… How boring and unseasoned. I should say that a good Phở Bo is one of my all-time favorite comfort foods. And to me means a beef broth that is delicately seasoned with hints of such spices as cardimum, anise, and clove. I’m not certain of the exact traditional recipe, but my favorites have always had such subtle and exotic background notes. This phở just tasted like plain beef broth, augmented by the(albeit tender) cuts of beef, raw onion, and cellophane noodles. Surely, this bland dish NEEDED the accompanying garnishes? And would have been accented with the missing pepper. Alas, I’ll probably try mimosa again, but NOT for the PHO.

The insecticide smell hit me first as soon as I entered the door. A wave of worries immediately dominated my mind while I was looking for a table through the dark hallways with the waitress. By the ambiance of the place, I was expecting that maybe I might spend 20 bucks with my family eating there; how fool was I !!! Realized that when opened the confusing menu, and surprise! Maybe the food is delicious??? My noodles came. Disgusting. I cannot find another word unfortunately. I hate to make bad reviews of a place where the«service» was not bad, but just because of that I’m putting 2 starts instead of just 1. This place needs either a major overhaul or close altogether. This location deserves a better restaurant or bar, or even a Walgreens would be more use Pleaseeeee!!! :/

Always a great place to eat. Never had a bad experience here. The staff is attentive, the food is great. We were searching around town for a place to eat on New Year’s Eve and were pleasantly surprised that they had room.

Always delicious! Huge bonus that they deliver in my area… that is the way to go! I have tried the Dinner Combo, with General Chicken and have never been disappointed. The Duck here is amazing, and a half order at $ 15 is very reasonable. The hot and sour soup is some of the best in the city. My only complaint is the revised size/portion of the Tiramisu… not worth the $ 7 charge at smaller size! I wonder if they got a hold of the recipe from Lentini’s, former occupants of this location that used to be a Louisville institution for Italian, as the recipe is authentic and fantastic. Owner here, Mr. Lee, is attentive and friendly. I recommend!

The menu is very extensive, and I don’t think that is a positive. Too many similar dishes and too many choices is rarely better than doing a few things well. I had the phở once which was decent enough, but the other generic Chinese dish I got was very forgettable. Like other reviewers have said pretty generic Chinese take out food which everyone craves from time to time. You’ll get what you expect.

The lunch menu is a lie. I ordered a dish based on the picture of the lunch menu, and when it came out, looked nothing like it. I asked the waiter to verify, and they said they don’t serve it the way the picture is – it is just for looks. It was a complete disappointment for the price(if all they brought out was a piece of meat with rice). On top of that, my husband bought the basil fried rice(with beef or pork), and the waiter charged us 9.00 when the menu said 8.00 for lunch. If that’s not bad enough, we were charged an extra dollar, making it 10 dollars instead of 8. He added an extra dollar for beef when it was clearly included. Nonetheless, we gave him almost 20 percent tip anyways since it was the holidays. However, either this place is a scam of a place or the waiter had no idea what he was doing. WORST experience in a long time. 38 dollars for an overpriced lunch filled with false advertisements and deception. DON“T come there as the food is not even worth it after you swallow their lies.

«Meh» I’ve mostly ordered delivery so i cannot comment on the dining aspect but as for the food their is still not much to say. The fried rice was literally flavorless apart from the hint of egg. I am in no way over exaggerating when i say FLAVORLESS. As a cook, It was actually quite stunning how you could cook something requiring a decent amount of ingredients and still come out with no taste. The sweet and sour chicken is no different from any other cheap Asian delivery, call it classic ill call it boring. Maybe my expectations were too high but unless i’m in the mood for so timeless crappy«Chinese food» ill spend my money else where.

Hellooo, lukewarm, under-seasoned, homogeneous-textured, prepackaged asian cuisine! While I support local businesses, I no longer support this one with my wallet. I was very disappointed with the cold food delivered to my home merely blocks away from the restaurant. When I called to request the rice forgotten in the delivery, I was told I’d have to wait an hour before the delivery could be made. Plus, as I mentioned, the food was lukewarm(I ordered hot entrees). For most customers this wouldn’t be a big deal, but I don’t have a microwave. Hence the takeout. The management and the employees here are nice and well meaning people. However, niceness isn’t always a fitting substitute for quality food and service. I had a very underwhelming experience.

This is how it normally goes in my house: «I’m hungry?» «Me too.» «I don’t want to cook.» «Me neither.» «Ordering out.» «OK.» “What do you want from Café Mimosa?“ In other words, ordering out has become synonymous with Café Mimosa in my house. And usually when I do place an order via their website — which is a plus that they allow customers to do – it’s usually their«rice in clay pot» or «noodle soup with shrimp»(their shrimp phở). I also always get their shrimp and lettuce wraps.(Their shrimp are huge!) And if we do want to get out of the house, we’ll walk up to the restaurant, which has great outdoor seating.
