We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the distillery. We had never tried brandy and now have a new favorite drink. Take a tour soon and ask for Ian! He was fantastic! Copper and Kings have a beautiful facility. They have spent time and money in all the right areas to make this place the badassery that it is today.
I was in town on a business trip. Iv been working with some gentlemen in the spirit industry. One of them recommended coming here to experience the distillery in person.
I must say, they hit it on the noggin.
You walk up to some re-​used shipping containers. They used them as a retail shoppe and a waiting area for the distillery tours. Cool stuff.
Then they have a wonderful community area with a fire pit and a really nice view of the inside of the facility.
Once inside your able to see where the magic happens. Our tour guide was wonderful and actually knew what he was talking about. Always a plus.
The stills they have are beautifully set and even made in America! Whooo!
As you walk thru the barrel room you can’t help but anticipate the fruits of the labor.
And once you reach that destination, it’s a wonderful greeting into the Louisville sky line. At the very top of the building you get to taste all of these wonderful spirits they make on premise.
Toooooo cool. And I don’t even like brandy or absenthe. Lol.
Great place to visit and a great place to enjoy as a local or a guest in the city.

This was a beautiful distillery. We went on a tour of the facilities, and our guide was great – friendly, informative, and very helpful. C&K’s brandy is fantastic, and they even make their own absinthe! The best part of the tour was our tasting in their top floor tasting room that had a phenomenal deck with a great view of Louisville. A very nice experience overall.

I’ve only been to Copper and Kings for a few events; however, the space is amazing. This place always puts in a lot of extra effort with events and the coordination is done perfectly. The choice of vendors, almost always local, are always chosen wisely and it gives one a chance to checkout other local restaurants and breweries. The space is very modern and they have a variety of rooms, including a rooftop. I’ve never tried their brandy, but hope to come soon to check out the actual distillery. Once I do that I’ll definitely update my review. Copper and Kings is worth checking out even for an event as they keep it organized, neat and the added security is always a nice touch. The parking situation can be difficult on an event night so I do recommend coming early. The parking for Butchertown Market (next door) is reserved and one cannot park there for Copper and Kings. I’m looking forward to checking out the distillery soon, but until then I won’t stop attending events hosted here.

Experience Brandy in Bourbon Country! My husband and I enjoyed the full tour and tasting at Copper & Kings on Sunday, October 25. Scheduling a trip to Louisville, I knew I wanted to tour at least one distillery. I did my research and settled on Cooper & Kings because they started their tours early on Sunday (10am) and had very good reviews online. I made my reservations in advance online and had no problem checking-​in the morning of the tour.
The guide led us through a walking tour of their facility including the outdoor and indoor event spaces, large copper potstills, barrel storage, bottling area, and finally the tasting room. We were able to taste one brandy two-​ways, and then we could choose one from the 9 other craft spirits to taste. Our guide was very knowledgeable at all points of the tour, but especially when it came to the tasting. We could tell he had a great interest in the different spirits, and ensured that we enjoyed our samples by offering different ways to taste– with fruit, ice, water, and soda. The tour ended in the gift shop where we picked up our free signature glasses, and purchased a few bottles of brandy.
Our guide explained that Cooper & Kings is a relatively new American brandy company, and it’s clear they run a fairly small operation. The line was not running the day we took the tour– in fact we only saw three employees total– and although we were still able to see all of the equipment used in the process of making Brandy, I think it would have been more exciting to watch at least some of the process take place in front of our eyes.
Parking was very convenient and free, just outside the visitors center. On a final note, if you want to save $ 2/​person you could wait to make your reservation until you’ve located one of their mini brochures with a coupon inside. I found the coupon in a rack with many others inside the Louisville Glassworks building at 815 W. Market St. However, I have to assume they’re available all over.

Copper and Kings is a beautiful distillery with state of the art equipment and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Copper and Kings makes the perfect unaged brandy used for cocktails, their own absinthe, and my favorite, their sodas! Their sodas come in cola (my favorite), mandarin, ginger, cream and more. I can’t go into much detail about their alcohol selections, and that’s simply because I don’t know anything about it. I’m unskilled in the ways of the brandies, bourbons, whiskeys and well, anything that isn’t wine… All I know is that it burned going down in a very pleasant way and I could sip on it all night. Now, I do know soda, and I can honestly say that their cola is the best soda I’ve ever had in my life. They even sell four packs of their soda selections, try it out when you go!
Their facility tops the magnificence (that’s right, I went there) of any other distillery that I’ve seen in this area to date. It’s multi layered and speckled with the perfect spots to chill out and sip on their amazing brandy. Whether its gazing into the stunning reflection pool or snuggled up in the depths of the 10 feet deep bonfire hangout with built in seats and pillows to lounge on, you’re going to have a comfortable place to sip.
This distillery utilizes huge shipping crates to house their gift shop, restrooms and check in office and is decked out in only black, orange and well, copper. Its a sight for sore eyes in this neighborhood.
This place oozes urban elegance: open spaces, trendy artwork, industrial staircases and even a monarch butterfly garden on either side of the entrance. This place not only puts Butchertown on the map, but makes it a specific destination.
Copper and Kings distillery was just voted as the number one distillery choice for the Louisville community via the Leo Choice Awards 2015. And doesn’t that speak volumes? Give this place a chance, you won’t regret it.

I don’t know enough about brandy to rate it – I’m a wine girl, myself — but this is a relatively young company, that I hope makes it! The people are awfully nice, Kate gave a great tour, and the facility is really attractive with museum-​like galleries and open-​to-​the-​public events. I love how music is an integral part of Copper and King’s distilling process!
State law mandates only two 2-​ounce pours, but really that’s plenty. The three of us shared, trying a total of six brandies and absinthes.
Tours leave on the hour and it’s $ 10 per person including a gratis brandy glass (not a snifter) at the end.

The wife and I kicked off our tour of Bourbon Country with Copper and Kings, a decidedly non-​bourbon producing distillery. Copper and Kings is a distillery producing craft brandy and absinthe located in Butchertown. The distillery had a unique design utilizing repurposed shipping containers and a massively renovated old brick building to create a modern distillery with striking design features.
We had an appointment for Thursday at 10AM, the first tour of the day. There was a standard $ 10 fee per person. Tours started from the Welcome Center/​Gift Shop fashioned out of the aforementioned shipping containers. As luck would have it, we were the only ones on our tour so that meant we had the undivided attention of our guide, Zach, who was very knowledgeable about the distillery’s design features, distilling process, and products. Just as important, he was very personable and obviously passionate about Copper and Kings. It made for an excellent tour experience. As for the tour, the comparatively small distillery wasn’t in full operational swing, so we missed out on the unique smells and sounds of a working distillery. No matter, it didn’t too much imagination to figure out how it would be. After walking the distillery floors and even getting a peek at the graphics department where a photo shoot was in progress (no human models, just sexy bottles of brandy), we made our way to the rooftop deck for the end of tour tasting. The rooftop doubled as an event space and offered and great view of the Louisville skyline. Although Copper and Kings produces 9 different spirits (with a soon-​to-​be-​released gin coming), state law limits the amount of alcohol that can be offered as a sample to 1 ounce total. As a result, we had to pick our «poison» to sample. It was delicious! Our tour ended where it began, at the gift shop, where we were able to purchase bottles of what we sampled… and we did.
In the land of bourbon, Copper and Kings offered something different. Its product was quality crafted with pride, which carried over to our tour experience. It set the bar high for the Bourbon Trail tours that followed. I highly recommend.

This place was delightful! We had done a couple of bourbon tastings already and we decided to change it up with some brandy and absinthe. Since they are a smaller craft distillery, we were able to see the whole process from distilling to bottling done in the one facility, which was pretty neat. The buildings were cool and the event spaces were beautiful. I wished I actually lived in the area so we could see the event space lit up at night.
The brandy was delicious, but I particularly liked the citrus absinthe! We were unable to try the lavender or ginger varieties, but I was very intrigued.
Also, the orange paint on everything was my favorite. The design was awesome. I loved it.

Lets me be clear: I am neutral spirit kind of girl. However, when in Kentucky, one drinks what is plentiful and the pursuit of plenty led me me to Copper and Kings.
The mister and I showed up at 11:00am and seemed to surprised the group. Despite their shock someone wanted booze so early we were welcomed in. The space is gorgeous!
The expansive site has a number of reclaimed objects such as old trailers. The outdoor space has a clean bathroom, a fie pit, and space to host events/​food trucks. We were ushered inside and met the custom made stills. Our knowledgeable tour guide explained how brandy starts as a type of fruit wine. He explained the cast process. He explained the company’s vision and he even poured us a few drinks.
The thing that makes the tour worth the 10 bucks (they collect it on the way out) is the space itself.
You get to see everything! We were shown around the basement where music moves the brandy around in the barrel. We were shown distribution side of things. We were invited to see how the make absinthe and even their photography exhibit.
They had a beautiful photography exhibit. We were even allowed to spend unrestricted time walking around the history of the Kentucky derby exhibit. The highlight of course has to be the tasting portion.
In a light shocked room with bright orange decoration where enjoyed 2 different varieties of products with fresh orange peel. While we sipped our spirits our tour guide told of about the birth of Louisville metro areas and recent efforts to change (aka gentrify) the area.
Overall the tour was worth the time even though I am still a vodka girl

I recently went into Copper and Kings to enjoy the tour. We began about 15 mins late so I expected some sort of an abbreviated version. That surely wasn’t the case. It was an educational tour that made you feel the passion from the staff about their product.
From the time we were first greeted to the time we left the staff there was very friendly, courteous and professional. They took the time to answer any questions we had and to show us all the attention we needed. I came in not knowing what to expect since it was a distillery that made brandy usually I tend to visit distilleries on the Bourbon tour or some of the local craft beer breweries. Needless to say I was disappointed
The tour began with introducing us to the way Brandy is made in the Copper stills. Then we were walked down to where the brandy and Absinthe is kept in barrels. To me that was the best part of the tour. The smells of the room quickly hit your nose pallet and the sound coming from the room made it a full sensory experience! Later we went to visit the tasting room where the Louisville sky line was a sight to see. (we went during the winter months with fresh snow so I can only imagine what it would be like in the spring or summer. A reason to visit again soon I’m sure)
The tour ended with a tasting of Brandy and Absinthe which was able to Change my views on both spirits for the better. We picked up a bottle of immature Brandy to enjoy once we got home.

This place is built for entertaining. There is a large outdoor space for entertaining with two water features and outdoor restrooms. The first floor is their feature showroom with the copper pots. The second floor is artistic loft-​style with plenty of room to host a party. The third floor overlooks the downtown and plenty of bar and table space. Very nicely done.

I have never been on a distillery tour but if you are looking for an event rental space the top of Copper and Kings is AMAZING. In the summer — the outside veranda and seating offers breathtaking views of the Louisville skyline. The floors are great hardwood and tall cielings. The outdoor patio space offers great garden spaces and plenty of room for heated tents, small pit fires, or plenty of seating/​wedding festivities in the summer. I have a lot of ideas of how I could use this space. I didn’t try any of the product becuase I don’t drink brandy but everyone else in my party was very complimentary.

Drop your hesitations. This place is awesome. I know some people are hesitant because they don’t think they will like brandy. That is understandable. But go check out the awesome distillery whether you think you will like it or not. It’s an amazing experience.
Definitely try as many spirits as you can while you are there. The building is super modern and fun. The people love where they work. And having another distillery in the Louisville metro is definitely something to celebrate. If nothing else, you will be ahead of the brandy curve, which will likely take off in the next few years.

How is Copper and Kings going to sell brandy to a bourbon town? With an unbeatable facility, possibly the best patio in town, and impeccable marketing.
I’m probably jumping the gun with this review, since I’ve only sipped a couple samples of their spirits and had one cocktail, and I still haven’t had a true tour, but I can say definitively that this place is marketing genius. Someone with deep pockets and ample understanding of style has brought a gem to Butchertown. The public spaces and patios are still not completely finished, but this space is a game-​changer here in Louisville, especially if you’re here on a good-​weather day.
As for the brandy, well, it’s definitely tasty. I have yet to commit to taking home a bottle mainly because I’m not sure I have a great feel for how brandy might fit into my daily life. My intractable 90-​year-​old great aunt is still great fun, and she tells me she drank a lot of brandy in her day, so they very well might be on to something.

I attended the soft opening of Copper & Kings, so I cannot fully review it due to not everything being fully functional and operational, I can only comment on what I saw. And what I saw was awesome. It has me really excited for things to come. They have a super cool outdoor space out front with a bar, recessed concrete seating with a fire pit, and a decorative pool, a great rooftop patio, a nice art gallery, and a modern tasting room with some of the reclaimed wood from the warehouse that was there beforehand. And what about the brandy? Delicious. It was super smooth and they make something that would appease any spirit drinker or non-​spirit drinker. Their website even includes a plethora of recipes to help you with drink ideas. All the staff I talked to were super friendly and knowledgeable about the distilling process and brandy in general. I can’t wait for Copper & Kings to be fully open for tours and events.
