A great local neighborhood grocery store! Fresh local produce, local goods (Bourbon Barrel Foods! Spudz! Vegan Jerky! Art Eatables!) and homemade food from Madeleine.
A marvelous addition to the foods scene here! She stocks top notch goods and provides friendly, top notch service!
I can’t wait to come to a dinner here sometime. The photos I have seen of her food look spectacular, and the food I have had the opportunity to taste is delicious.
Pay Fond a visit and you’ll find that you are fond of it as well!

So when I had the rice balls at Unilocal’s Art in Action (if you had them, you know which ones I mean!) I knew that I had to find out where they came from.
Fond is the cutest little grocery store in a house on Frankfort Ave. They’ve got a ton of local produce and product that you can buy. But the owner also makes a ton of stuff as well. Thankfully I didn’t use a basket otherwise my wallet would have been hurting!
I grabbed myself a sandwich for lunch that day — ham with a pesto aoli which was amazing! I also grabbed some of the rice balls which are frozen. She’s got instructions on everything which is great. I also took home a broccoli quiche which I can’t wait to eat!
So the other awesome thing about this place is it’s not just a grocery store! The owner also has a dinner party that she does a five (don’t quote me) course meal for you. It’s $ 75 and there’s only 12 places available. If all 12 are filled you only pay $ 55! Now, I haven’t had the food, but I think it would be a super fun place to take your supper club or just your spouse for a date night. We can’t wait to go!
*Update* you guys!!! I just had the quiche that I bought from here (bacon, broccoli, pancetta) and it was amazing!!! Super easy to reheat and delicious: D

Fond is a real treat of a place in Crescent Hill that just opened recently. I saw it mentioned in a Unilocal email and decided to swing by one day when I was in the neighborhood.
From the moment that you step in the door, this gourmet grocery store feels welcoming and different. Madeleine was there when I visited (owner) and her bright smile and enthusiasm encouraged me to discover what she had. There is an array of local goods (including Black Dog candles, the sale of which which Madeleine explained to me help go to fund local animal shelters), as well as homemade gourmet food made by Madeleine herself available «to go».
I was so tempted by the $ 100 cake, but was sadly too full to sample it on the day that I visited. I’ll be back for that as well as the fig and prosciutto take and bake pizza (I’ve died and gone to heaven!) that I saw a picture of in an article about the place.
Stop in for yourself and you may also find that you are fond of Fond as well!

Priceless $ 100 cake sold by the slice here is just divine. Loved the jerk pork tenderloin with spicy sweet potatoes as a take out lunch. Stopped in for casual quiche on a Sunday-​wonderful. Will be back again and again. YUM.

I had the pleasure of visiting this little store shortly after it opened last month. Very pleasant place with a nice selection of mostly locally produced items. While my purchase did not include any of the owners personally made food, what was on display looked delicious.
When I visited Louisville I was told I HAD to go by here and I am very glad I did. I will most certainly shop here again next time I come home.
