Hi-Tech Appliance

I have had enough with this company. I bought a dishwasher from them. 4 years ago. i have had several issues with it not working right, Door jamming, bad smelling, Not drying the dishes. So on the first call to fix the door issue the tech discovered that it was not installed right. The door was not bolted into the hinges, And not bolted to the walls so it kept moving around.
On my last call last week we kept having a bad smell coming from the Dish Washer. The tech who installed it left the hose to long that went into the drain and it was picking up sewer water.
I called the manager and he was no help. he did not refund my service call amounts that i had to pay.
It was not my fault for the bad service. YET I HAD TO PAY FOR THEM. they care less about customers.
I WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.
I will go down the road to a real appliance store.

Great service and knowledgeable techs. Right on time and the cost was very reasonable. One tech answered a question about my washer and they were there to fix my microwave! It was a really helpful answer. Don’t like having appliance issues but if I do, I’d call them first.

Great experience with the fix of my gas fireplace. Dispatched a tech same day who was able to take care of the issue right away. Shane even had the parts necessary in his truck. Very professional and nice people to work with. I will call them again for any appliance fix or upgrades.

Just had them out to repair my fridge and thank heavens I didn’t need a new one. Fixed the problem right away, cleaned up the problem areas. Even had the part needed on hand!

Hi-​Tech is listed on Majestic (Vermont Castings) website as the official repair techs for their products, I called Hi-​Tech, to find out if my fireplace (installed only 5 months earlier) needed a different orifice for the altitude, since it kept going out with the doors closed.
The fireplace had been installed by my Contractor, as part of a large outdoor deck remodel. The Contractor was no longer available, due to personal & medical issues, so contacting him was not an option.
The tech from Hi-​Tech came out to inspect the unit. He charged me $ 50 for the inspection. During the course of the inspection, he ruined the Teflon runners on the doors, blackened the stainless surface and broke a log. When I requested the owner of the company, (Randy)to fix the damage his tech had done, he became very argumentative, and stated that the log was already broken (eg, the tech didn’t do it), and the issues with the doors and the discoloration were a «normal» result of operating the unit.
The Details: Upon arrival, it was obvious that the tech was unfamiliar with the fireplace. He asked for the manual, which I provided. He then called a tech support number and was on the phone with someone for quite some time. When I returned, he showed me he had succeeded in getting the fireplace to run with the doors closed. However, he pointed out to me that as a result, the Teflon rollers on the door had melted. I was pretty upset by that, especially since now the doors no longer closed properly. He didn’t seem particularly concerned.
I asked him what else he had done, he replied, «I adjusted the logs and put in some embers.» At that point, the fire went out. He said he’d do more troubleshooting, and I left again.
Upon my return 30 minutes later, he told me that there were defective parts, and to repair it, the parts and labor would come to $ 678. I said, «the unit is still under warranty, it’s only 5 months old», and he replied that Hi-​Tech would NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY as I did not purchase the unit from them.
I then paid him $ 50, for the service call. After he left, I called the dealer, Woodland Direct, to discuss these «defective parts» and if this was covered under my Warranty.
While I was still on the phone with Woodland Direct, the OWNER, of Hi-​Tech Appliance, Randy, called, and told me the tech was incorrect. The unvented fireplace was NEVER supposed to run with the doors shut, it had an automatic shut off that kicked in which shut down the fire in the event it runs with the doors shut. He guided me to the place in the manual where that info was. It was confusing because the manual for the doors indicated the unit could be run with the doors shut. So… why didn’t the tech know this? I asked Randy about replacing the doors the tech damaged, and he said that he would SELL me doors for $ 296. He was extremely argumentative. A few days later, I received by mail a bid for the doors from Randy, for $ 352.80. I asked him about the discoloration, and the broken log, he insisted the discoloration was normal, and the log was already broken. He offered to sell me new logs.
Hi-​Tech Appliance refused to honor the manufacturer’s warranty and refused to take responsibility for the damage that they caused, or admit they made a mistake. The owner repeatedly lectured me on how «people like you buy things online, and then expect US to service them, when we didn’t sell or install them» and, in addition, lectured me on «not reading my owner’s manual.» I have to say, I would never do business with this company again, Now, here’s the happy ending: Woodland Direct, in conjunction with their supplier for Vermont Castings VOLUNTEERED, that’s right, volunteered, to not only send me new doors, and new logs, but actually refunded the $ 50 that Hi-​Tech charged me. Now, that’s what I call real customer service. And Randy doesn’t like people buying units online, and not from him… really…I wonder why folks do that! The other thing… I was able to clean off the discoloration with about 3 hours labor with salt and vinegar (a solution I found online)
So, bottom line, I think Hi-​Tech Appliance deserves an «F» and as an aside, Woodland Direct, the ONLINE company, deserves an A+. The not only fixed what H-​Tech broke, they went above and beyond by making me whole, after Hi-​Tech charged me for basically damaging my new fireplace.

Called these guys in December to come out to fix our gas fireplace, which kept cutting out. They weren’t able to come until early January. They weren’t able to diagnose the cause, but conveniently found a number of other problems that had to be fixed for safety.
The first was replacing the safety switch. We waited over two weeks for the part. When they called to say the part had come in, they didn’t know why it was ordered or what needed to be done with it. Once I explained what they’d told me, they set up an appointment over a week out.
At that time, they installed the new safety switch and cleaned the fireplace. I’ll give them this, it looked good. But then they couldn’t get the glass to reseal so had to order a new glass piece. Same drill… a couple of weeks, they called me not knowing what needed to be done with it, then told me it would be two weeks before they could come install.
I expressed my serious displeasure at their timing and, miraculously, they were able to send someone out within two days. The guy came and installed the glass. He was courteous and timely. Once installed, he flipped the switch and… same problem that we started with.
So, two months, lots of parts I didn’t originally need, and no working fireplace. They have been unable to diagnose the problem and we’ve now gone two months (in the middle of a super cold winter,) with no fireplace. I will never recommend this company to anyone. I could not do so in good conscience as I have been very disappointed with their service, communication and lack of ability to resolve my issue. Honestly, I feel as if I’m being taken advantage of.

We live in Louisville and will only buy from Hi-​Tech Appliance and only call them for service (we have learned the hard way). They are extremely knowledgeable (both sales and service), carry the most reputable products, and go above and beyond to help you. We unfortunately did not know about this local store when we remodeled our home 6 years ago. We bought a Bosch dishwasher recently (love it) and are getting our refrigerator serviced right now. Both of our prior appliances were bought at one of the big box stores and we were under the impression that they were quality products (mistaken). Paul is terrific and the technicians as well. Very trustworthy. Cannot say enough positive comments. If in need for appliances or service, it would be beneficial to see/​call them first.

They got our money and then sat on it doing nothing for weeks. Mishaps, poor communication, never followed through, finally had to send a complaint to better business bureau. Run to another company.

Had a great experience with these guys. Would highly recommend them for any appliance repair.
My washing machine just stopped working and I chose an appliance repair company with the lowest diagnosis/​service fee to come out and take a look. The repair man determined that I needed a new control panel on the washer which was a $ 200+plus part with labor on top of that. He left my house with screws and other parts that he had taken off of the washing machine on the floor and did not even put them back on.
I decided to call HI-​Tech for a second opinion because I was looking at a pretty pricey repair of close to $ 300 with labor vs. buying a completely new washer/​dryer set. They showed up to the appointment with two technicians which was a nice surprise and within the first 10 mins they determined that the washing machine was not in any need of repair, and that the electrical outlet just needed to be replaced or repaired! I couldn’t believe that the previous technician had not even bothered to check the electrical source for this possibility. I wish I had called Hi-​Tech months ago! They are very knowledgeable and professional. Totally impressed. they are getting my business from here on out.

We have just moved to Louisville and I checked out Angie’s List and these folks had fine reviews. Peter came by and he immediately discovered the cause of our dishwasher leak and also explained why the dishwasher was stopping its cycle at particular points. Very informative visit. I certainly don’t want anything to break down, but these guys will be on the top of the call list.

High tech has done several repairs for me. Always done right and honest. They almost always have the needed part in the truck.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The owner is a complete JERK and did absolutely nothing to solve a service problem. Our dryer has been dead for nearly two weeks now and when I told the Owner/​Manager that I worked in a hospital and as a firefighter, he asked if I had ever heard of laundry mats!!! If I could give negative stars, I would!!! I would NEVER EVER buy anything from this company again.

At the suggestion of my contractor, I called Hi Tech to see if they knew of a way to get scratches out of our Jenn Air cooktop and double ovens. To my surprise, Randy called me back with a service option. We had a great young man, Jack, come to the house and lightly refinished the stainless steel on two appliances. We could not be happier with the results. The fair price was worth every penny. We no longer wonder how the scratches got there with the previous owner, since we can’t see the scratches! I will use Hi Tech any chance I get. Yeah for Hi Tech, Randy, and especially Jack.

We had a refrigerator go out on us and Dave from Hi-​Tech Appliance came out to help. Dave provided great service and answered our questions regarding what we should buy if the problem couldn’t be resolved. I felt that Dave was friendly, helpful, and honest. He got the problem solved and charged us a good price to do so. I’d highly recommend Hi-​Tech Appliance to anyone who is in need of good, dependable, and friendly service.

I’ve been using these folks at work for a while now, and I’m pretty happy with them. They’re much more reliable than the other repair companies I’ve dealt with, the techs are all friendly and pretty straight-​forward and, best of all, their shop is just down the road from my office so, when I need supplies, I can just pop on in to their showroom!
Speaking of their showroom, it seems pretty well organized. I’m not sure how their pricing compares to other appliance companies, though, but I recommend stopping in based solely on the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
