I always come here to find things for parties! They have so many unique items that can’t be found anywhere else for reasonable prices. The building may be small, but it’s cute!

Don’t let the small storefront of this business fool ya. Horner Novelty is chock full of party and costume goodness. I really can’t remember leaving here without what I came in for — whether that be fake body parts(for a zombie party), rubber chickens and chicken masks(for a fried chicken-themed photo booth) or cowboy accessories and party decorations(for a Wild West-themed party). As you can see, my shopping list can be somewhat … out there. But Horner Novelty always delivers and for a fraction of the cost of other places. I mean, fake body parts can cost a pretty penny, but I clearly remember buying fake hearts, livers, hands and feet for $ 1-$ 2 each. Beat that, Wal-Mart! I got to this Horner Novelty store through its larger, sister store in Jeffersonville, which I fell in love with. It’s true that that location is larger at two floors, but I’ve been nonetheless pleased with the Preston Highway Horner Novelty’s selection. Along with aisles of costumes and accessories, it also has party needs, like platters and tablecloths; make-up; photobooth props; cheap party gifts; and items for themed events, like baby showers, Over the Hill birthdays, weddings, 21st birthdays, luaus, Vegas nights, children’s birthdays and Derby. It’s closer to my house in the Highlands, and the staff have always been eager to help me find what I need, no matter the strange request. Plus, this location is next door to Grind Burger Kitchen. Pick out an awesome costume and then go next door to eat one of the best burgers in the city!

I have been to and hosted many a theme party — it is kind of my deal. And never has one place made that so affordably fun! I went to the smallest of the Horner stores and was still amazed. When you hit a Party City and those places the stuff is expensive. And then a Walmart or Dollar Store is so hit or miss on what they have — especially now a days. This is clearly not a concern at Horner. So I’m having a luau in February(why not?!) and found all the stuff online because I knew it was out of season. They have it ALL at Horner. A touch more expensive than the super cheapo places online, but no shipping and I can pick it all out in person. Instead of 8 bucks for a box of leis, it was 10. Done. Blow up pink flamingo? Done. Nunchucks for my Michaelangelo costume Thursday for the Third Thursday Comic Book party? $ 2.99 I. Love. You.
