I’ve been using this dealership for almost a decade since we bought our Sorento there in December 2006 and I give them fair marks overall. First and foremost, the sales department lucked out by having an awesome service department and should probably sell that fact more. Buyers deal with sales people for a couple days, but work with the mechanics for YEARS. Having said that, the required maintenance program ensures that you’ll be keeping KIA Motors lightly drenched in your cash for 10 years or 100,000 miles if that’s still their warranty. After that, they’re ok for oil changes and specific things like headlight bulb replacement. So-​so on brake job cost. I like the multipoint inspection you get with each service. Go somewhere else for tires. Sadly, we may eventually leave the KIA family all together as car prices rise and wages don’t. (We’d never get the deal on a car like we did a decade ago.) So, for the couple of reviews that didn’t like the sales tactics, that’s just the nature of the beast. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t get to experience the other side of the building. KIA East is probably better than most dealerships if you have the $$ and negotiation skills to purchase there!

Yesterday I spent 3 hours negotiating for a car and once I thought we reached an agreement I was told that I had «misunderstood». It turned out that their final offer was actually more than the initial offer! I started by telling the salesman that I had a certain amount of cash plus my car and wanted a used Kia Soul. To find out how much I could afford to spend, I first asked what my trade-​in was worth ($ 3000). I chose a 2013 Kia Soul priced at 16,700. Their third offer was 14,753 O.T.D. which I accepted (blue book value 13,600 but I was willing to pay for the low mileage of the car I chose). As I was about to write a check for the 11,753, the manager told me the price was 14,753 PLUS my trade-​in. This would make the car cost over 17,000 which is HIGHER than the original amount. I walked out angry without a car and a wasted afternoon.

I seriously have to find someone else to service my car.
I come here because most places don’t stock Kia parts. Historically, I have assumed that getting service at the dealership would mean you pay more for the service, but only get the service you actually need. Pricey, but honest. I can work with that.
But I’ve started to question that. The service guys are fine, but I don’t trust the people in the office. They haven’t mailed you a coupon in a while? They can honor the standard discount… except when they won’t. They can’t accept a Discover card… unless they choose to make an exception for you. Earn «rewards» points for your service purchase… unless you want to use any of your rewards, then you can’t. The whole transaction felt dirty.

Bait and switch! I was in the market for a car recently. I had my price limit and wanted to pay cash and trade in the mini-​van of my former life. I had concentrated on used cars because of my financial needs. But I kept hearing the radio spots about the kia sportage for 11,990. And thought, ‘Wow for a little extra I could get a NEW car!’
Went to the kia store east. I was greeted by a smiling salesman and said I would like to take a look at the sportage they had for 11,990.He offered me a seat while he got one. Test drove an automatic and he explained all wonderful features. I asked if they had a manual version for the same price. We were driving the manual when I said there were alot of features for the price. Things changed quickly. Oh, no this was was only 16,000 the one for 11,990 didn’t have these features and not even A.C.!! I decided since he wasted my time, I’d waste his time and not let him do this to someone else I let him put some numbers together-​they only offered me $ 1000 for my trade in and had a ridiculous monthly payment even though I was putting over half the price down! So, I took up more of his time by letting him show me the new kia along with 3 other used vehicles and acted interested enough for him to get his sales manager involved. Who was impressed with how «laid back» I was. Easy to do when my mind was made up not to buy from these guys. They were slick, too slick, friendly, too friendly. When steering your car, steer clear of kia store east.
