Had a hard time finding a good Vietnamese place since leaving LA but I think the phở is delicious here. Flavorful broth that doesn’t need much seasoning aside from your aromatics. Pretty authentic and the service & prices are great, too!

Just picked up some food to go because we were craving Thai & none of the other spots in town were open on a Sunday. I was excited to find this place open, however, I am super disappointed by our food. 1. The pan fried gyoza was good! Pretty hard to mess that up, though. 2. The Tom Yum soup has pineapples in it. This could be common fare(although I eat Thai food everywhere I go & I’ve never seen this), but I don’t like it. It made the soup too sweet. 3. The Pad Kee Mao was probably the worst that I’ve ever tried. I’m not trying to sound harsh, but it really was not what I was expecting. It was a whole bunch of noodles & not a lot of veggies & chicken. It barely had any spice or sauce. The little sauce that was there was more like pieces of tomato. I don’t know how to explain it. Honestly it really just tastes like bland & greasy noodles. I could be so off with this review(maybe I’m not as well versed in Thai as I thought) or it could have been the fact that we ordered 30 minutes before closing– I don’t know. I don’t think I’ll go back a second time to try & figure it out, though.

I love a warm and local joint. We got the pineapple fried rice and lettuce cups. They were delicious! I recommend this spot and love supporting this sweet family who runs it!

Came into town Friday night, and found the late night food options in the neighborhood underwhelming. Decided to stop into La Qué on a whim, and was not disappointed by this family owned establishment. Ordered a delicious Thai chicken salad. Loved talking to the family and getting to know them a bit better. Would definitely come back when I’m in town again!

The food was pretty good — I got the glass noodles with shrimp and summer rolls with avocado. The portions were a little smaller than I’ve come to expect around here, but that’s really okay. Upon picking up order, the guy ringing me asked me if it was first time. I said it was, and he told me that lots of their customers don’t like the food. I’m still not sure what to make of that conversation. I disagree with them, by the way. The atmosphere was a little bland, at least from what I could tell, but my noodles and rolls were completely delicious. I’m for sure going to be coming back to this place!

Food is good. Service is horrible. Have given them many many chances. Waited 50 minutes for a takeout order tonight. The drive to St. Matthews is worth it after all. Last time I’ll order here sadly.

Great value. .great food. I had the Phở(kinda a phở freak) and it was very balanced. Nice amount of heat.(No Sriracha needed) Thai tea was a bit pricey, cost them a star.

Was referred by a friend. And I’d like to say I will take any food referrals from him any day. Because this Phở was teh bomb! Service was excellent, menu was reasonably priced. I do recommend trying the Pan Fried Dumplings.

well, rats. should have read my earlier review before going! Again, hot & sour soup neither hot(peppery) nor sour(vinegary), and the main ingredient seemed to be «regular» mushrooms. Appetizer sample was yuck. Spring roll tasted funny(did not get sick! just odd) chicken with peanut sauce was plain grilled chicken, sauce on the side. Blah. I need to set a geographic reminder on my phone to eat here again.

Not a bad spot if you’re looking for a mix of Asian dishes. Bonus for me that it’s open on Sunday’s. The other Thai places in town are not. :-( It’s not a big spot on the inside. Pretty typical of highlands spots. Overall it’s not my favorite spot but if I lived in the neighborhood I might try again.

This is a neat little place down near where KFC11 used to be. There are plenty of other places you can walk right to and visit after you finish your dinner/lunch. The inside is kind of small but is very thoughtfully laid out. Minimalist with a few pieces of artwork on the walls and music playing overhead, but not too loud just enough to add to the ambiance. I really want to give this place 4 or 5 stars but based on this visit I can’t. I showed up around 4:45 p.m. and I was immediately greeted by the waitress and she told me to pick a table. I sat rather close to the door as I get hot easily so the cool breeze from outside would kick in when someone entered or left. She promptly brought out my soft drink and I ordered the chicken dumplings, pan fried shortly after. It comes out with the side for my entrée. The dumplings were excellent tasting but they weren’t very hot and they did not seem like they were actually pan fried but steamed. No biggie though because the spring roll was really crispy and tasty dipped in the sweet sauce(and soy sauce) that came out with them. I ordered the shrimp lo mein for my entrée with fried rice and the spring roll that had already come out to the table. The fried rice wasn’t to my standards so I think if I visit again I won’t be getting that, it was tasty but I could see chunks of egg in it and I left it alone for the most part. Besides I was really looking forward to the shrimp lo mein! It’s brought out and I get to eating on it, everything in it was cooked to perfection. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and I made sure to get a bit of onion, pepper, carrot, shrimp, noodle and mushroom in each bite. Plenty of shrimp on it and it filled me the rest of the way up.(I’m not sure how much I’ll eat for dinner tonight when the boyfriend gets home from work as I am still pretty full!) The waitress was on top of her stuff man, she was on-point when my soda was getting low she was there to ask if I needed some more and she made sure I was happy with the way it tasted. She was a really pleasant woman for sure and I’ll give it a second chance for her attitude alone. The part that really turned me off was when the man who brought me my check stated that she gave me the lunch special(which ended at 4) and the next time I am there after 4 I would not get the same deal. He spoke like I had asked for the lunch menu and I would have been fine with paying more as the food was worth the money I spent. His attitude put a foul taste in my mouth after I had finished the food. I paid the lady and left a 30% tip as it was dead and she stayed on top of my dining experience. For only $ 11(before tip) I got quite a bit of food and I am overall pleased with the experience but his attitude dropped this from a four star to a three. However I will come back and next time I’ll bring a group with me so I can introduce more people to what I have been pronouncing wrong for a long time as it’s pronounced«La Way» not the way it’s spelled.

I can’t believe I formerly gave this place four stars. Who am I? What am I? It has literally given me an existential meltdown. I come here about two or three times a month and I have been doing so for over a year. Each and every visit the food has been consistently perfect. We have never once sent an item back or received the wrong item, nor has our glasses ever run dry. At this place, I’m never afraid to try something new. I’ve enjoyed every dish I’ve ever ordered from here, and I really can’t say that about a lot of other places I frequent. All of their dishes are bursting with flavor and texture. Even simple dishes like wonton soup, egg rolls and white rice are delicious and prepared with skill. And the prices are just ridiculous. We’ve never spent more than 25.00 here during a visit. A typical visit for us includes two sodas, soup, spring rolls, egg rolls, fried rice, white rice, a noodle dish or Chinese dish, green curry with chicken and a green tea frappé. That is a ton of food for so little. Oh yeah, and they have local beers, like Goodwood, Asian imports, and lots more for 3.50 a bottle. That’s seriously a good deal. This is probably my favorite restaurant, and that says a lot because I eat out almost every day(and yes, I do dream of a home cooked meal). It exhibits every quality that I look for when choosing my go-to restaurant; its relatively quiet, it has a café like ambiance, the food comes out quickly, the presentation is very appealing, the staff knows my partner and I, and most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious. Overall: This is a staple to the Highlands’ community and is definitely worth a try if you enjoy authentic or Americanized Asian cuisines(they have plenty of both). The service is always awesome and you will leave full and happy with your wallet still intact.

I visited this neighborhood joint for a group outing last night, and I have to say that I was extremely pleased. I had heard that the food was good, but that the service was a little slow To my surprise, they were wrong. We had a group of about 25 people. They got the appetizers ordered and out fast. The entrée orders were taken quickly, yet not in a way that made you feel like you were being rushed. Afterwards, they were delivered in a timely manner. Since this was such a large group, not everyone got their food at the same time, but they were still very quick about it. I ordered the soft spring rolls with chicken, which were tasty and done well. I also ordered Bun Xa Ot(N6), which was a noodle dish that had chicken and lots of veggies. It had just the right amount of spice where I could definitely taste it, but not so much that I had to take a break to cool down. This is definitely a neighborhood gem to return to!

La Que is one of my go-to asian restaurants in town. They dabble with a little of everything(Thai, Vietanamese, and Chinese). Usually to me that means that the quality is going to suffer, but they knock everything out of the park. Plus, they are super vegetarian friendly, with the ability to make any meal with tofu or mock chicken. And many of their dishes are already vegetarian. My favorite part of La Que is their outdoor seating on Bardstown Rd. It is the perfect place to people watch in the summer and have a relaxing meal. The prices here are very reasonable. At first, I thought the menus listed online were outdated, but those are really the prices. Their lunch special is such a great deal(an entrée, rice, a side of your choice, and a drink). I usually get lemongrass noodles with vegetarian spring rolls or orange mock chicken. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The one negative I have for the restaurant is that it always feels very dirty/grimy inside. They have an A health inspection grade, so Im hoping its just a feeling…

I love this place. I live close, so it’s convenient; but, the food is great, it’s reasonably priced, and I’ve always had great experiences when dining here. I read some of the other reviews on this page and several mention long wait times. In my experience I’ve never waited longer than 10 minutes for anything at La Que. And I’ve eaten here a lot. Perhaps some other people just caught the restaurant on an off night? I have no idea, but I know that every time I’ve ever been here I’ve been greeted immediately, brought a drink within a couple minutes, brought any appetizers/sides within 5 – 10 minutes, and received my entrée while I still had food on the table. They have the best spring rolls! The dipping sauce is phenomenal. I seriously want to use it as salad dressing. They also have great crab Rangoon and egg drop soup, and I’ve been pleased with every entrée I’ve tried. Also, they have a dinner special for only $ 8.95 that includes a drink, your choice of rice, two sides, and an entrée! You seriously cannot beat the quality of their food for the price. I highly recommend that everyone check this place out!

I really don’t know what to write here. The people are really friendly. The location is as good as it gets. The flavor/taste of the food is solid… I just don’t think I’ll eat here again. The quality of the food really seemed to lack. In my green chicken curry, the chicken looked very, very grim. Like it had been chopped up and just tossed into the curry to cook. And it was tough and fatty. Really weird texture. It put me off. If you like it, then I’m glad for you. I just think there are several other places in the area that are better and worth eating before you come here. The only redeeming thing was the spring roll. That thing was fantastic. If you do come here, get that and leave.

Pretty tasty food. Great location. The ambiance/décor is a little more low-rent that I expected, but that’s ok. Food took a little long to come out. In that… I started noticing that people around us who ordered after us were getting their food first. And I was getting jealous! But the food was tasty, as I said(I got the eggplant with shrimp). And the price is pretty great for the amount of food you get!
