History

Established in 2005.

This 4 diamond award wining hotel opened in the spring of 2005 as part of the redevelopment of downtown Louisville. Adjacent to 4th Street Live and connected to the KY International Convention Center the hotel the hotel provides an ideal hub for both business and leisure guests. The hotel ranks in the top10% out of all Marriott Hotels for guest and meeting planner satisfaction and is recognized for the superior culinary skills of it’s food and beverage team. Ate at blu. What a wonderful find. Great service from Michelle– very personable and knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails (extensive bourban list).
Great for a family dinner but better for a date or business meeting.
The food was unbelievable. From the homemade bread and butter (!!!) to the juicy ribeye and a side of lobster Mac and cheese. Finish it off with the crème brûlée.
Hostess was sweet and the chef even came to our table. Highly recommended and will be back again.

Christmas brunch was over all good waffles roast beef and coffee was excellent i had some attitude problems with one of the managers over my service dog Kiki but they took half off my bill so I am happy

I called the same day we checked in and the rate was residual its. However they do a military rate which have us $ 100 off! Phew we will take that for sure! The hotel is actually very pretty inside. The staff was very friendly. It has champions sports grill and bar, and also a bourbon bar if you are just looking to have a night cap. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Overall our stay was great. We only laid out head down and were not here for more than 8 hours but it was at least a comfortable 8hrs. If we come back to Louisville and stay over again I will def be coming back here.

Very nice hotel, located in downtown Louisville (aka Looavul, Luhvul, Looeyville, Looaville, Lou-​e-​ville)!
Location: The hotel is convenient to 4th Street Live, across the street from the Louisville International Convention Center (hotel connects to the Convention Center through a skywalk) and a few blocks from the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, KFC Yum! Center (home of the UL Cardinals and @ 20k+ seat concert venue), Muhammad Ali Center, Kentucky Center for Performing Arts (3 theaters: 2,400, 600+ and 139), Louisville Palace Theater and Louisville Waterfront Park.
First Impression: they provide Valet parking in the front of the hotel on E. Jefferson and guest underground parking garage located around the corner on W. Liberty St. The lobby is usually decorated nicely, especially festive for the holidays w/​plenty of seating (3 seperate areas with couches and chairs).
The front desk/​concierge is located to the left and usually has 2 – 3 staff for check-​in (+ check-​in kiosk for elite Marriott members). I’ve stayed at this hotel 5 times and have never waited long.
Rooms: very clean, modern and comfortable. All rooms have large comfortable beds (either 2 double or king), flat screen TV’s, refrigerators, medium-​sized closet, desk and chair w/​ottoman. The views are ok, I suggest staying above the 15th floor to get better views. Note: the 16th floor has the concierge room, which provides breakfast (starts at 6am).
Ameneties: Fitness Center, Business Center, Indoor Pool/​Hot Tub, Indoor Parking Garage and Onsite Starbucks
Food/​Drinks: there are 2 restaurants in the lobby of the hotel: Blu Italian Grille and Champions Sports Bar and Grill, Bourbon Bar and Starbucks (next to the front desk). They also have a small store that has snacks, drinks, toiletries, medications and gifts.
I ate at Blu Italian Grille twice and both meals were good (I had the Filet w/​side of Crab Mac & Cheese and Salmon), but fairly pricey. I have also had a quick snack and dessert in Champions, which is a Sports Bar with pretty good casual bar food and drinks with plenty of TV’s to watch the games. Good place for larger groups.
Final thoughts: the Downtown Louisville Marriott is a very clean, comfortable, convenient hotel for anyone that wants to stay in downtown Louisville. I like that if you are weary from your travels and want to stay in the hotel, you have good food choices, a gym, business center and indoor pool. If you want to venture out, there are plenty of restaurant and venue choices in all directions.
Skip the other local «historic» choices, this Marriott is the place to stay in Louisville– Safe travels!

This hotel is your average Midwestern downtown Marriott… clean, courteous staff, and comfortable. Though we stayed on a Saturday night, the hotel was a ghost-​town as was the rest of the neighborhood. The bar had last call at 11:30. Worse, the Starbucks in the hotel, the only place to get a decent cup of coffee in the area, wasn’t opening until 9:30 am. Because of this I’ll never stay at this hotel again… not sure if I’ll ever stay downtown in Louisville again!

I’m a regular Marriott user, but this was the worst Marriott experience I’ve had to date. I arrived at 10pm after a long day of travel to find out they had oversold the hotel and they would be moving me to the Hyatt next door. Ok, so much for reserving 4 months in advance! Well my room at the Hyatt was a welcome upgrade and the walk to the Marriott where all my meetings were being held wasn’t bad. In fact, the Hyatt room had been newly reconstructed and was a welcome place to sleep. That evening I was locked out of my room at the Hyatt and informed I had to go back to the Marriott because the Hyatt was sold out. So I packed up to spend my 2nd night at the Marriott. Disappointing room! OMG the comforter felt like it was made of plastic and linen. Glad I’m not sleeping in that room again. And the room was tired and in need of an upgrade.

Never have I had a worse experience with a hotel. Especially one that is supposed to be upscale.
I stayed in the Marriott Downtown for 2 nights for a Bachelor Party weekend, and after arriving home an hour after checking out, I unpacked my bag only to realize that I had left my brand new, tailored white dress shirt hanging up in the room. No problem, I thought. I immediately called them, talked to a customer representative, and was assured that the dress shirt would «show up after the maid cleaned the room» and they would call me. Okay. I believed them. I called the next day — nothing. I waited a few days, called again, and nope. Now it has been a month and 5 or so phone calls, and it looks like either a maid stole the shirt, or they lost it. My nicest, $ 150 dress shirt down the drain. I would expect this kind of service from a cheap Motel, but not a hotel of this price. Ridiculous.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott in Downtown Louisville for a conference, leaving just today. Seven days of conference and other meetings and I have to say that this hotel has the most attentive and kind staff I’ve seen ANYWHERE! Staff were stationed in the lobby always checking to see if there was anything they could do to make our stay better.
One gentleman whose name is Bill, seemed ever present. Last night at our banquet he and two other staff members were basically at attention as they watched and waited and on cue removed tables from the stage so we might honor our newly board certified chaplains. He cued the waitstaff and kept the evening running smoothly. He became the staff member I went to with any need, partly because he was ALWAYS there when we needed assistance. Bill was who I went to when a colleague’s hand was injured.
Was the hotel perfect? No, but darn close! Bill, Cory and Eamon were the gentlemen whose names I remember: gracious, kind and engaging, always asking if there was anything we needed. The housekeepers were amazing and our server in Champions was both professional and engaging. I forget her name, but I remember her as the mom who took her daughter to see Taylor Swift the night before!
Marriott Downtown Louisville has a formula for success that works! I recommend it highly, and even though its prices are above my regular budget, I might just save my pennies and return. I’ve been to enough conferences at enough hotels to know that this one is truly exceptional!

First of all, it’s a Marriott. As far as Marriotts go, it is a nice one. Clean, updated rooms. Good, friendly service. Stayed in the one-​room suite. Nice EXCEPT for the fact there are no plugs at the desk for devices.

I was given a room for a business trip. Very nice hotel as you would expect from Marriott. Accommodating staff. Luxurious rooms and amenities. I wouldn’t normally stay in this hotel as I seek out less pricey hotels but a great choice for those willing to pay. Parking is $ 27 per day so be sure to consider that when booking as well. No complaints for a free stay.

Beautiful hotel and awesome costumer service. They have a nice pool/​jacuzzi area next to a fitness center where my husband and I worked out. The workout room was small but convient. I loved eating breakfast at the Blu restaurant in the lobby, very delicious food. I would stay here again if I’m ever in the area.

Recently stayed here while in town for a concert. The location is outstanding if you don’t need to leave the downtown area, everything is pretty much within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and always ask if they can assist you with anything.
I saw/​heard some live music on my way out of the lobby this morning, I think they had a jazz quartet for Sunday brunch… nice.
They could stand to upgrade the towels and toiletries, but those are the only changes I’d recommend.

Pretty hotel and good location. It’s pricey as are all the downtown hotels, but really nice if you want to go out to eat or to a show. The indoor pool is a nice plus if you want to take a dip. The beds were not as comfortable as I would have liked and I’m usually pretty easy to please. We were only there for one night so didn’t spend much time in the hotel. We were a bit disappointed in the morning to find a long wait for brunch at the restaurant, even though there were a lot of open tables and there was a brunch buffet– we ended up going somewhere else.

I haven’t stayed in this hotel yet, so I can’t speak on that, but I did go to a conference here and I can say that i was absolutely blown away.
It was possibly the best food, most prompt and pleasant service, and constant attention I’ve ever received at any hotel or conference. I’m sure it came with a price but at every turn there was someone waiting with water, fruits, treats, and you wanted for nothing during breakfast and lunch spread. At one point there was chocolate dipped strawberries, an ice cream bar, and a whole tray of full candies to choose from.
My only semi-​complaint was that the bathrooms were a bit far away from our conference rooms. It’s a semi-​complaint because with all that eating, it was probably for the best.
To top it off, the location is superb — if I was an out-​of-​towner I would have loved being downtown during the evenings!

I am a Marriott fan, but this was a good one. We were there for a convention and the banquet meals were much better than the usual rubber chicken. Not only did they have a local flavor, they had good size portions and nicely sauced.
The hotel itself has a great bourbon bar off the lobby and I much preferred that to going into Characters for a drink. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the bourbons and they offer the option of flights for tasting.
The Marriott staff was the usual over-​the-​top friendly, the rooms nice, clean and comfortable and the maids had fun turning the towels into animals and shapes both when the room was made up and again at the turn-​down service.

When the power went out in our hotel nearby, we were relocated to the Marriott. It was actually really easy to get to and checking in was very easy. The hotel is very nice and modern.
The lobby with the decorations for the Holiday season were just beautiful and festive.
We were given a nice King Suite at the same rate as the other hotel for the night. We liked the room and considered staying at the Marriott instead, but we ended up just staying for the night. They were very accommodating to all of the guests that needed to be relocated.

It’ll get the job done, especially if you’re traveling for business.
Although I didn’t spend too much time at the hotel other than to change clothes and go (and lay my head for a few), I was satisfied with my stay.
The lobby is grand and was beautifully decorated in spirit of the holiday season when I visited. There is a restaurant within as well as a sports bar adjacent. At the time I arrived, the restaurant was not yet open for dinner (although the lounge and bar area was) so I had to pop on over to the sports bar for a quick bite.
The rooms were pretty traditional with few bells and whistles, but most importantly it was clean and comfortable.
There is also a Starbuck’s within the property, so no need to hunt that down if you’re a ‘bucks fiend. You can just head downstairs and grab it on your way out.
Not the sexiest hotel out there by any means, but definitely a solid choice.
