Wow! Well balance Old fashioned and pink margarita. Bone marrow was off the chain. Tacos… yum, yum yum. Please add the smokehouse brisket to your permanent menu… i beg you! Also awesome: pork belly… Could be crisper though, softshell crab… Again, could be crisper, and roasted lamb… Not as tender as I would have liked. Limas were tasty! Great service… Server Cleo, had the kind of knowledge one requires! Beautiful wispy blonde with a bob.

Ok so I was so excited to try this place, I really liked Loop 22, and love Hammerheads and Game, and this is walking distance from my house. My sister and I decided to do diner here. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, we didn’t have to wait to be seated. The menu looked great, we both love tacos. I love that they had like seven vegetarian options. I ordered the Lima beans and I’m two tacos, you have the choice of at least four styles in which you want your tacos topped. The server was nice and knowledgeable. The food arrives and was fantastic the flavors were so rich and perfectly matched. It is one of my new favorite places I’ve been back at least three times since. They also have one of my favorite tacos from Hammerheads. I haven’t had a cocktail here yet but they do have a full bar, and I hope to try one soon. I highly recommend this place, great addition to the neighborhood and to my taco love!

So you know that place… that place you love and hope does not become too popular so that you can no longer get a seat. Migo is that place. The staff is super friendly, the bar has some really good drafts, they have happy hour specials, and the kitchen does daily/weekly specials. So yes, parking is a little hard to find but it is worth the extra time required as the food is that good! Super bonus they allow small dogs on the patio so we can bring our furbaby. We did the Yuca tots and mofungo for apps. Both are delicious. Look out for the mofungo as it is served in a mini cast iron skillet and is super hot when it comes out. We each did different tacos and tasted them all. They are all great. The stand outs were the vegetarian mushroom taco, the tongue taco done Korean style, and the soft shell crab taco. Seriously try them when you come. Awesome!

This is a little gem of a restaurant. They have cheap beer! Good, interesting choices for as low as 3 $ that isn’t just PBR. We started the night with the yucca tots. So good! I loved the sauce that went on them. Definitely enough to share with 4. Yucca is a root vegetable, so similar to potatoes. 3 of our party of 4 got tacos. Now I will be honest, I love American style tacos and I think every taco should come on flour and have lettuce and tomato. But Migo made me a believer. They are $ 5 – 7 dollars a taco which is a little steep, but it was definitely worth it. They are large helpings. You choose the style of meat and then the style of toppings. I got the shrimp with BAJA — light and flavorful with avocado. I also got the short ribs with Korean style. I don’t always like Korean bc of the kimchi, but it was perfect! I loved the basil on top and the sweet and savory sauce. Everyone including my picky boyfriend loved their food. The one downside was that we went at a busy time and the food took a very long time. The waiter was super friendly and checked on us often, so we didn’t feel forgotten about. It just took awhile on a busy night.

My favorite restaurant experience in Louisville so far. Take it: –Margs –yucca tots(believe the hype) –catfish taco –awesome friendly sevice –good drink menu –à la cartel menu –casual atmosphere –pretty reasonable prices Leave it: –bbq option –Lima beans(ok but don’t buy the hype) Ps, where are the lady servers in all these hammerheads owned joints?

Will probably have to update this review once I try it again. Great location. Parking in the back and tons of street parking nearby. Decent room inside with outside seating. The beer selection here is awesome. No cheap beer. Good olé microbrews and imports. Prices are very reasonable. Staff here is beyond friendly. Quick even while super busy. Very helpful and knowledgable about what they sell. Only knock — Had incorrect info on their website about a free glass.

Don’t ever order the Yukka tots, ever, heed my warning because if you do, and if you are like me and my three year old grandson Simon you will not be able to stop eating them — they are just that good, no great. The first thing we do is order two of them and pray they have them most times they do thank the gods Then we devour them with a fervor of a person consuming their last meal We have eaten thru the menu and haven’t found anything we didn’t like it has a num num rating off the charts just like their other restaurants Game and Hammerheads Go and try they are great But don’t order the Yukka tots(so they will have them when we go)

I have been meaning to stop in for a while now and had the perfect opportunity last night. My friend and I went for dinner and drinks. We showed up on a Friday around 7:45 and only had to wait maybe 5 – 10 minutes for a table. yay! We both ordered the migo margarita, which we believe should be called the Migo Dogrita! It reminded us of a salty dog… in the best way. :) Kudos for being a different version of the regular margarita. We started with the yuca tots and some guacamole. The yuca tots are amazing, you must try them. They are hard to describe other than to say they deserve a taste. The guacamole was good, similar to lots of other good guacs around town. The tortilla chips that they serve with it were delicious! They seriously reminded me of Cool Ranch Doritos(and I love those things). I had the buffalo cauliflower taco and was very happy! It had some refried lentils in it that were seasoned just right, and some fresh cilantro and such to go along with it. Yum! The service was friendly, and the atmosphere is definitely casual. Remember this place is owned by the same folks at Game and Hammerheads. If you are a fan of the others you will also enjoy this spot. They have some interesting taco choices and all look fantastic. I want to go back and try some more tacos, the tamales, the lima beans, and another cocktail.

Migo makes me proud to be a Louisvillian. I left full of delicious food and hope for the city’s restaurant scene. The place is fairly small, but it has an exciting, vibrant atmosphere that’s great for a first date or a night out with friends. Our waiter was super friendly and the décor is fun– I caught myself distracted, checking out the art on the walls while my boyfriend was describing how delicious his tacos were. He’s a vegetarian and was very pleased with the options on the menu. They have a wide variety of veggie tacos and sides. Not only is the food delicious, it’s also beautiful! The taste and aestethic of the tacos inspired me creatively. Seriously. They made me want to paint or write poetry or something. We both tried the buffalo cauliflower taco and ITWASSOOOOGOOD! I took one bite and realized that this is THE place to go for tacos. We were in a pretty committed relationship with El Taco Luchador before, so it feels like cheating to say that. But it’s true! We tried Migo at the recommendation of a friend. My boyfriend said that he can’t wait to hug them and say thanks. That’s how you’ll feel if you eat there… trust me.

Hammerheads is my favorite restaurant. Yesterday I learned that the same owners had a new restaurant, so naturally I had to check it out today. Food: 5⁄5. I got the pork belly and roasted duck tacos. One BBQ style, one Korean style. Phenomenal. Tastes similar to the tacos at hammerheads, but with the interesting styles. Surprisingly filling. Was full after 2 tacos. Price: 4⁄5. Slightly more expensive than comparable food at hammerheads. For instance, 2 pork belly tacos at hammerheads run you $ 9 if I remember correctly. Here, they’re $ 5 each. However, the ability to buy tacos individually and customize the style justifies the increase. Ambience: nice and cozy. Service: got food to-go so can’t really comment. All the workers were really nice and attentive while I waited for my food to come out. Will definitely return until I try everything on the menu, as I’m sure it’ll all be good. Keep up the great work guys!

I was so disappointed in our experience at Migo. The menu sounded interesting and I was hopeful that a tapas spot would be successful and survive in this location. I seriously doubt it will last unless they change their prices and hire friendlier servers. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new last Monday and Migo was on our list. We read previous reviews to get an idea of what to order and it seemed the appetizers and catfish taco were the highest regarded. We saw that margaritas were 2 for $ 10 and had a spark of excitement. That quickly diminished when the server told us that was only until 7 p.m. and the time was now 7:10. Darn. We ordered one to try anyway. It was good– but very small for $ 7. Very small — as in we each took 2 sips and it was gone. We asked the server for recommendations and she seemed a little annoyed with us. We decided to order light to start so we chose one catfish taco, Hawaiian style, the Yucco tots, and the Mofongo(roasted pork and plantain) appetizer. The Yucco tots were the best thing we tried for sure. The taco was not good. The tortilla shell was cold and tough. It was $ 30 for what we had and we were still really hungry. I don’t mind paying a little more for high quality food, a cool atmosphere and good service. But, sadly, we had none of the three.

Tofu kimchi taco is good, but doesn’t rival Holy Mole’s. Potato/black bean is awesome, though. Veggie tacos are like $ 4 each. Guess that’s about on-par with most small plates places.

Being opened only a couple of months this place is doing a very good job from the get go. Still need a little more training to get the wait staff knowledgeable about their menu items but the friendly service makes up for the lack thereof. The variety of the menu is intriguing, they have some very unique items, ie tongue, which I really like about it. The stand outs were the yucca tots, the wagyu chorizo taco and the seasonal vegetable taco. There is a most delicious Tomatillo aioli they use as a sauce on some of the dishes. When I come back I plan to ask for it on everything. They make everything in house from scratch including their sauces and taco shells. Props to this great new addition to the Douglass loop dining scene.

Oh my goodness, this pregnant lady just enjoyed herself immensely. We ordered the Yuca Tots(enough for two people to share), and I had BBQ pork tacos and a shrimp taco made Hawaiian style. It was all really good. Our server Ken was very helpful, and an owner came by to thank us for coming. To top it off, our meal for two(plus baby) was only $ 35! We will be back. Soon.

I recently visited the newly re-opened restaurant by the Hammerheads rockstars — Migo. I was a fan of Loop 22, which they previously operated in the space, but this is a great alternative. I love the tacos at Hammerheads, and these were definitely up to that standard. The menu is fairly simple with some great appetizer selections, tacos, and sides. We had the yuca tots which were delicious. They were fluffy, crispy, and the sauce was amazing. I liked them way better than most tater tots I’ve had. Tacos are sold individually. You decide what protein you want on your tacos and pick a style. I love that you can mix and match the meats and toppings on the tacos. I got a pork taco Baja Style and the Black Bean taco. Both of them were really good. I also got a side of lima beans. They were flavorful and had a bit of a kick to them, but I’ll be honest… no one will beat Mayan Café’s lima beans in this town. They have a great beer list with many local and craft beers available and several great looking cocktails. I got a Migo Margarita, and it was the perfect blend of tartness for a margarita. The service was excellent and our food came out really fast. Pricewise, this is a bit more expensive than some other taco places in the city. Tacos range from $ 5 – 8, appetizers are $ 7 – 10, and sides run $ 3 – 4. However, I think it’s worth it for sit down service and amazing food. I like that you can create your own meal by mixing and matching taco styles.

Migo recently opened in the former location of dearly-missed Loop 22 in Douglass Loop. The good news is, it’s a worthy successor. This is the latest venture from the people that run Hammerheads and Game, so you know the quality is going to be outstanding. The focus here is on tacos, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying Hammerheads tacos, that should make you excited. The menu is set up in an interesting way. You can choose meat or seafood tacos and then opt for the way they are dressed, such as Hawaiian, BBQ, or Kimchi.(There are also vegetarian options). There were plenty of meat options, and I went for the roasted duck and lamb tacos. Both were truly outstanding. The duck taco maybe didn’t quite rise to the level of Hammerhead’s duck tacos, but that’s an awfully high bar to clear. The taste of the lamb combined with BBQ toppings and a perfect corn tortilla was heavenly. My wife got the roasted pork and a black bean taco, plus a side of lima beans. She raved about both her tacos, and the lima beans had an interesting spice. Mayan Café doesn’t have to worry about its title of best lima beans on the planet, but they were still pretty good. We also ordered the yucca tots as an appetizer, and they were simply amazing. Looked like little building blocks of yuca, drizzled with cheese and sauce. You could almost make a whole meal of this. I highly recommend it. As you’d expect, the beer list was also strong. I got a Blue Stallion dunkel on draft. Service was quick and friendly, and food came out when ready on wooden planks as it does at Hammerheads and Game. Tacos were about $ 6-$ 7 each, so it’s not the cheapest. But with so many good possibilities — I can’t wait to try the wagyu, pork belly, lobster and soft-shell crab on future visits — and such terrific flavor, it’s worth it. I sincerely hope this place makes it longer than Loop 22. It’s off to a terrific start.

What a delicious place! The concept is simple. You order the taco you want and pair it with a style. If I’m judging on food alone, then this place could easily receive 5 stars. When arriving, I was confused at first. I walked in the front door, checked the place out, and couldn’t seem to find anyone to seat me. The hostess was over in an out-of-place corner. No big deal. It just threw me off. I sit down and my waitress comes. The entire staff was nice. I ordered an AtG beer and 3 tacos(more on these later). My only issue is that a beer and 3 tacos brought my bill to 21 dollars! Add in the tip and that makes it closer to 30. With that being said, the price alone will make this an occasional solo visit. When I go from now on, it’ll be to order tacos only and drink water. It’s hard to beat other taco spots in town where tacos range from 2 – 4 dollars. That range is 5 – 6 with one 7 dollar taco at Migo. They have plenty of appetizers and sides to choose from too. I see this place lasting, but I also think they should cut down their menu. Focus on the tacos, have taco specials, and ditch all but a few of the apps. It’s also not a place I’d take a date because of the price. The food is good, but tacos shouldn’t be that pricey. Food: – Wagyu Chorizo — Hawaiian Style — Since Game, anywhere Wagyu is on the menu… it’s mine. Next time I might go with a different style. I wanted the pineapple, but I think another style would suit the Wagyu. – Pork Belly — BBQ Style — I only ordered this after finding out that the Braised Short Rib wasn’t ready yet. It was tasty like pork belly should be. Fresh. – Fried Catfish — Mexican Style — This was my ‘take a chance’ decision. I like catfish, but I like to prepare it or have someone that I know make it. I was totally satisfied with the catfish and that particular taco will be on my list every time I visit. Go here at least once. You won’t be disappointed with the food.

Just when I was beginning to lose faith in the Louisville dining scene, enter Migo: the two-week-old tapas restaurant/taqueria. It’s a small place, located right down the street from Great Flood Brewing. The vibe is hipster cool with pallet lined ceilings and large«street-art» wall murals. If you’re familiar with Philly restaurants, my husband called it perfectly when he described this as a cross between Sancho Pistola’s and Continental. What we ate: –The freshest-tasting made-to-order guacamole with lima bean purée –Steaming hot refried lentils with a little kick –A black bean and sweet potato taco with so many amazing flavors it’s hard to describe –A fried lobster taco, baja style at the recommendation of our server — two thumbs up –A wagyu chorizo, Korean style taco –A braised short rib, baja style taco(least favorite of the four but still pretty damn good) –We did not save room for dessert but will definitely be back to try the churros The wait staff was attentive, helpful and super nice. I wish our entrees and sides came out at the same time, but I’m chalking this up to the kitchen still finding its rhythm. I saw what I assume to be the owner come out from the back to chat with several guests which always garners extra points in my book. Keep it up, Migo. I’m rooting for you and can’t wait to return!

Migo is located in the same building where Loop 22 used to be. The inside is decorated very interestingly– metal chairs(not quite comfortable) and many different sizes of tables, wall murals, and the ceiling(at least in the front room) is strung with wood pallets. The menu offers a variety of appetizers, tacos(that are offered in five styles), and sides. I opted for the soft-shell crab taco baja style and the short rib taco korean(think kimchi and bulgogi flavored) style– both were great but the softshell crab taco was exceptional. Something about the crunch of the crab really added to every bite. As my sides I got the refried beans and chimichurri potato salad. The first go around I accidentally got brought the refried lentils instead of beans. I let the waiter know and she immediately brought the correct side dish and let me keep the one that was incorrect. I actually preferred the refried lentils over the beans. The potato salad was very fresh and not super heavy like one would typically consider potato salad to be. The combination of the chimichurri and squeeze of fresh lime made it very fresh. If I had one complaint about the sides it would be I feel like they used way too much lime in both the potato salad and refried beans(which is the reason I liked the lentils better) although it wouldn’t stop me from ordering either of these items again. I came here knowing the owners of Hammerheads and Game were behind this concept and expected nothing less than the delicious bites I have received at those restaurants before and definitely was not disappointed. I do think the restaurant is pricey for what it is. The tacos range from $ 5 – 8 each depending on the type of meat you choose and sides are $ 3 – 5. I really think it is almost overpriced to be honest– especially if you include tipping your waiter. But maybe I am comparing them to El Taco Luchador where I could have gotten two tacos of the same size and a side for $ 11 flat? Don’t get me wrong, the food was great, and I am sure I will venture back at some point, but, the $ 26 dollars I paid(tip included) could almost buy me a great meal at some of the nicer dining establishments in Louisville.

The Hammerheads owners have delivered up another gem. Migo is a tapas and taco restaurant. A selection of pork belly, wagyu, duck, shrimp, etc., and a selection of how you want your taco flavored(Hawaiian style, Korean style, etc.) It’s all explained to you on the menu, which you fill out and hand to your server. Let me tell you — the flavor of these tacos was nothing short of extraordinary. Such powerful deliciousness wallowing all over your taste buds. Even the refried lentils I had were fantastic. I was lucky enough to go on the 2nd night of it being open. They were not busy, so I was able to speak to the chefs and the staff. Super friendly and personable people. It just makes me want to return, honestly. If I had one complaint — it’s a little steep. $ 29 for 3 tacos, one side, tap water, and a tip. Eeek. But that’s honestly OK. I’ll pay a little extra for some place that will prepare food as good as that.
