Business Owner

Rik first became interested in acupuncture when a local acupuncturist was able, with just 3 treatments, to heal an arm injury that had persisted for over eighteen months.

In 2004 he went to Chengdu China to study the Taoist and Buddhist roots of Chinese medicine. The studies include daily qigong, chanting, and presentations by Chinese medical practitioners. The teaching was woven through a trip across China from Cloud Cap Observatory (A Taoist monastery built in 1041) outside Chengdu, down the Yangtze and out to the Buddhist monasteries of Mt. Puto in the China Sea.

On his return, he entered Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and pursued a four year course of studies which included over 2625 hours of acupuncture and Chinese herbal training, and over 250 hours of Medical Qigong Training. After completing his studies at OCOM, he returned to Nanjing, China and interned in 5 hospitals there, studying with «National Treasures» — individuals who have been treating for over 40 years.
