I was a student at this school. I am appalled at the level of Unprofessionalism, tact and lack of values displayed on a regular basis. The education is subpar (to say the least) compared to other schools in the area. I felt unprepared and not very knowledgable upon exiting the school. I was an A student with almost perfect attendance and still did not receive the education I paid for. The kit you receive upon enrolling is lacking in quality and in items needed for school. The staff (not all) are disgruntled and lots of times too consumed with gossip to truly assist the students. The learning environment is chaotic and disorganized. There are some good things. The school is very pleasing to the eye, it’s busy with clients (which seems to be Paul Mitchell’s biggest concern) and there is a diverse student body. That being said, I do not feel (and I know many would agree) that the diversity is celebrated or respected. I urge you to attend a different school, you will be grateful and so will your career.

What people need to keep in mind prior to going to Paul Mitchell is that it is a school. These are students and they do coordinate with teachers prior to any type of service. With that being said, it’s a loud, energetic place that appears a lot smaller from the outside.
I went to get a facial and a shampoo/​deep condition (which came with a blow out). I am not super keen on getting my hair cut or colored by anyone but my hair stylist. You can say I have some trust issues derived from a few baaaad experiences. Anywho… for those services, it was only going to cost me $ 33 (all prices are listed online)…so, why not give it a shot. I had a bridal shower to get to that day so I made sure I had enough time to get all this done by a student. Be warned that because they are students, they aren’t as quick as they are still learning and do consult their teachers.
My facial was done in the shampoo chair, which didn’t bother me one bit. It was about a 45 minute process and by the end of it, my skin did look and feel amazing!!! $ 10…can’t beat that right???
The shampoo and deep condition was too be expected. Added a ton of moisture. And the young lady who serviced me was SUPER sweet and friendly. Made the entire process very enjoyable.
Where the experience took a turn was when I was about to pay. I made my appt at 10 and finished about 11:45. I walked up and they told me they were having issues with the scanner and that they would have to reboot. no problem. That stuff happenends. I stood there for about 10 minutes before the lady said «Well, it’s still rebooting… so I could write your CC information down or it should be up in a few more minutes.» I don’t really trust my CC info being writted down and a few minutes to me means no more than 5. She advised me I could take a seat. The line started to back up.
I was getting ansy as I had a shower that started at 2 and I still needed to get home and get ready. At 12:20 the system was back up and she took care of the couple people who were standing. Again… no problem. She didn’t call me up, so I just walked up as I saw CCs being taken. She took my card and advised me since I waited so long, she would discount my service. Good, I thought. That’s what should have happened. Signed my paper and walked out. As I was walking, I noticed that I paid $ 33 and she DID NOT discount my service.
I was already pretty frustrated at this point and thought it wasn’t worth arguing over. I would like to go back to make an appointment, but I will be bringing cash. Waiting 30 minutes to pay was just crazy in my opinion.

Based on some positive Unilocal reviews, I thought I’d try this place out. Couldn’t be worse than when I cut my own hair (– I have toddlers — who has time for salons?!).
I used the Unilocal app to book my appointment about a week ago — I even get a confirmation email.
I drop the kiddos off at childcare, I tell the husband he has the night off, and I arrive early. AWESOME!!! But, then… major FAIL.
They don’t have me in the system for an appointment. When I tell her I booked using the Unilocal app, she says «that explains it.» Apparently, «someone» usually checks for bookings, but apparently «someone» forgot.
She apologizes and asks if I’d like to book for another day??? Um, NO, thank you.

This is a high energy, fashion forward, student salon with incredibly low prices. The students are very professional, focused on pleasing the client, and well supervised. They offer a wide variety of services including hair, nails, waxing, makeup, and some spa services.
A major benefit at The School is the low prices and the inclusiveness of those prices. My friend had her very very long hair washed, cut, blown out, and straightened for $ 10. While I waited for her I had a shampoo, deep conditioning treatment, and blow dry for $ 8. We also both had 30 minute facials for $ 10 each during which they cleansed, did a facial massage, applied as mask, steamed with hot towels, and moisturized. I am planning to go back on a regular basis for $ 10 facials now that I know about them.
However, there are a few quick things to be aware of. 1. Services often take a little longer than at other salons because of the instructional nature of The School. It is necessary for the student to stop after each critical phase and have an instructor check their work and sign off. 2. Some services are also be a little less private than normal. For example, in a regular salon or spa, a facial would take place in a quite room with just one esthetician. At The School it takes place out in the open with several students gathered around learning and a teacher checking the work. The unusual environment didn’t negatively impact my skin’s ability to reap the benefits of the facial and the service was $ 10 whereas it would be $ 60 at a normal spa so I was totally okay with it.

I’ve come to Paul Mitchell the past three times I’ve had my hair done, and I’ve always left happy. The school basically offers all the services I’m used to at a normal hair salon, and the students have always been extremely knowledgable about hair and the services they provide.
When you walk in, the waiting area is to your right, and the salon wraps from the far left of the building to behind the counter. There are classrooms tucked behind the walls of the salon area, and students as well as teachers are buzzing about on a normal busy day. With the tall warehouse-​esque ceilings, white walls, personal hair stations, and product display, it looks like the Ikea of hair salons. Always made for a comfortable visit for me.
As far as the hair, I usually bleach my roots, and pull some highlights through. I ask the student I’m with what s/​he recommends for a cut, and generally go with their opinions. I’m not picky, but I know what I like, and they always give me something new and fresh. I’ve seen people in the salon receive ombré, full color, fantasy colors, perms, you name it. Between every major thing they do to your hair, they have to consult with a teacher, so I never worry that I will walk out of there with something catastrophic.
This leads to the only downside, it takes a little longer than your average salon, so be prepared. It has taken up to 2 and a half hours for me. But for the price, it’s fine with me. My last visit, I got lowlights and root touch up, as well as the cut and it was $ 35. Can’t beat that!
I’ve also bought products from the salon, including Forever Blonde shampoo and conditioner, and Platinum Blonde purple shampoo. It’s pricier than what I buy at Kroger, but as my stylist said, it really helped to make my hair silkier and healthier and I’ll be replacing the product when it runs out!
Another huge plus is their availability. I can call and get an appointment that day or the next day!

$ 17 for a wash and style with a Phase 2 student, which is student with more floor experience. Great service and style for the price. Professional atmosphere, the student’s work is checked by an instructor throughout the appointment, and they carry Paul Mitchell products if you want to purchase what was used during your visit.

Its a school for people to who can do hair good and want to do other stuff good too.

I walked in yesterday with a picture of the red hair I wanted. I already had SALON dyed red hair with about an inch or so of regrowth at the root.
The girl colored the hair, tells me it’ll take about 30 – 35 minutes to develop… and then went mia for the next 40 minutes. I had to track someone down to locate the girl so it could be washed. She washes it and starts to dry it, I IMMEDIATELY notice that my roots are yellow. I sent her to ask for help, another girl comes over, they mix up another color and apply it to the roots to fix them. After that comes off, the roots are still not right. The color assistant tries to tell me it’s the salon lighting (I’m not an idiot, nor am I blind, it’s just wrong), so I say lets go outside and look at it in natural lighting. She looks at it, concedes that the roots aren’t quite the same as the rest. She then proceeds to interrogate me asking me if I’m on medication, I say no, so she then accuses me of using a box color. I tell her that no I don’t use box color, reds are impossible to get a natural look out of a box. We go back inside, decide I should come back in tomorrow to get it fixed. At no time did anyone apologize for getting it wrong, nor did they acknowledge an error was made. Also, the student went missing again and didn’t even stick around to see how the correction (even though it didn’t work) was performed.
I walk in today, brought the same picture I had in hand yesterday, pointed out that 1) The color doesn’t match the picture, 2) the roots are yellowed compared to the rest of the hair, 3) that the top layer of hair and the underside don’t match (top layer has a copper/​warm red, the underside is a cool/​blue based red).
As we’re discussing what’s wrong with it, the VERY RUDE color manager I met yesterday proceeds to argue with me that there is no such thing as a blue based red. I should have walked out then and saved myself another 3.5hrs in the chair essentially spinning wheels. If the teacher doesn’t understand basic color theory, I NEVER should have allowed her to instruct a student as to how to correct the previous students error.
However, I’m an idiot. Now, instead of the lovely NATURAL looking red that I wanted, my hair is a very fake blue based red on the under layers (think Claire Danes «My So Called Life» red), with streaks of a warm based red throughout the top. My roots, bangs, and ends are at least THREE different shades of red.
After it’s dry, I tell the student that the color still isn’t correct. She sends over the color manager again. First words out of her mouth, after she rolls her eyes and sighs, are «NOW what’s wrong with it?» Still NO acknowledgement that there is an error, and no apology for wasting another afternoon of my time.
I will never EVER step foot in there again.

I’ve had my hair cut at an Aveda school years ago, so I’m familiar with beauty school salons and how they work. I gave blood at a blood drive sponsored by the Paul Mitchell school last year, so I knew they were there. My hair desperately needed some attention, and my birthday is next week, so I wanted to get it done, but my bank account wasn’t exactly cooperating. I looked up the Paul Mitchell School Salon on the interwebz, and was delighted to learn that haircuts started at a mere $ 10.
I was able to get an appointment time 45 minutes after I called for both myself and my boyfriend. HIs stylist took him back right away, but I was told by the receptionist that mine was finishing up with a client and would still be a few minutes. After a few moments of entertaining myself with my iPhone, my stylist greeted me and brought me back to her chair.
We discussed what I wanted: a deep conditioning treatment of sorts to get rid of the crunchiness and a trim to get rid of the scraggly ends. We went over several options, and I settled on the regular deep conditioning treatment ($ 10) due to budget constraints, because the protein replacement somethingorother she was telling me about ($ 30) sounded amazing… However, a buttload of conditioner and a few minutes under a dryer, and my hair is like silk.
We went over how much exactly I wanted off of my very long hair, with her showing measurements on a ruled comb. I thought it was excellent that I had a visual aid; we were both on the exact same page about what 3 inches meant. About 45 minutes later, my hair was rid of its dead ends, and had fresh layers with lots of movement. I was blown dry, sleek and shiny. The teacher came over to inspect my haircut; only one ½″ too long spot that I didn’t even notice. Quick fix and it was done. Some shine spray later and I was done, accompanied to the front desk with my ticket — only $ 25! The deep conditioning was $ 10 and my haircut $ 15.
I am very pleased with my hair. I can’t stop touching it.
My boyfriend is also very satisfied with his haircut. He plans to go back, and I may very well accompany him to try out their scalp scrub and other conditioning treatments.

The salon/​school itself is very nice looking; the décor is on par with any nice salon you’ve walked into. When I spoke to my stylist, she told me they had recently renovated and it shows. The ceilings are high, but it’s still fairly quiet and an enjoyable atmosphere overall. They could use more magazines.
The stylists themselves are just students, but they have professional teachers that walk around giving tips and sometimes taking up the scissors themselves. I have a very complicated stacked bob and when it got close to closing time, the teacher took over for the student and finished my style. I was very pleased with the results and the price could not be beat.
BUT… it takes FOREVER to get your hair done. Just like any beginner, the students are much slower than a professional stylist. Highlights, a cut, and blow dry took four hours the first time I went. The next time I went was just for touch-​ups on the highlights. I told them I only had a couple of hours and they said they wouldn’t be able to finish in that amount of time. I appreciated the honesty, but I just don’t have that much time to devote to a stylist trip (my former stylist would only take an hour for the same procedure). In my case, my time is worth more than the money I save.
Overall, I do suggest Paul Mitchell for someone who is looking for talented hairstylists at reasonable prices. Just make sure you have at least three hours to devote to it, if not more.

When I first had my haircut here three years ago, it was $ 7. Now, haircut done by a Phase One student is $ 10. It’s worth every dollar. Cheap haircut and styling but great results.
If you don’t mind several «check» or inspection from the floor instructor, then this place will get the job done of hair styling. Students pursuing their career in hairstyling need number of hours in «clinic» time. Customers like me allow them to showcase their skills and passion.
Make an appointment for either the Phase one or Phase two students. Basically if you want more experienced student, pick the Phase two. They do pretty much everything from cut, color, wax, braids, and corn rows. Hair styling products also available for sale.
