Well, I hate writing negative reviews. But I’ve had one continuous bad experience after another with Sam Swope that I can’t in all honestly keep quiet. I bought a used car, a 2009 VW Jetta last summer from Sam Swope. I was initially fairly pleased with the purchase but 1 week into the purchase I started having trouble with the engine cooling fan. It wouldn’t shut off, period. I called their service department as soon as I noticed the problem and let them know the issue, they told me they didn’t have any openings for at least another week, to which I told them the battery would be dead. And die it did. So, I towed it to Sam Swope the same day and told them they had to fix it. They said they would. And they did. It just took them a month.
I should’ve called the relationship quits after that experience, but I stuck it out. And, so, just recently, as in this past weekend, I suffered a blowout. I’m usually one that doesn’t worry about such things, they happen, and I can change a tire in under 30 minutes, no problem. Except this was a problem. Popped the caps on the lugnuts, and discovered that one of them is a locking lugnut. Well, shit. So I go digging around the spare, and no locking lugnut key. Nothing, nowhere. OK, OK, so I call a tow and take the car to nearest tire store, Walmart in this case, as it was the only one open. They don’t have anything to remove the lugnut either. So, I walk to an AutoZone about a mile or so away. Nope, nothing there either.
So, after saying, «Eff it!» and just moving on, I thought I’d call Sam Swope the next day, thinking they’d have the solution. So, day 2, I spoke to my salesperson, who then called his manager, who apparently gave me a nice brush off by saying he couldn’t help and that he was sorry, and maybe I should call Volkswagen. I am sure I’ll call them right after this review, thank you very much.

Unilocal needs to add a ZERO star option. The purpose of this review is to hopefully enlighten every person who reads it before ever looking at a vehicle on any Sam Swope lot. Avoid them like the plague.
Where do I begin? My wife and I purchased a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T from Sam Swope Infiniti a few years ago. It was a Premier Pre-​owned vehicle. The salesman we dealt with was great and the buying experience was great. I can’t lay any fault on the salesman (Miles Best) he honestly was great. But needless to say, a week after purchasing the vehicle the motor locked up, causing $ 4600 worth of damages. Sam Swope Audi graciously fixed the vehicle and payed every dime. While it was a fiasco to say the least, this issue was dealt with rather well and Sam Swope should be thankful for Miles Best for taking care of the issue because it’s the only reason I ever stepped on a Sam Swope lot again.
Now to the real bad part.
I figured I’d give Sam Swope another shot because they had a reasonably priced truck that I absolutely loved. Remodeling a 100+year old home, I was in need of a truck. I bought a «Whole-​tail» vehicle. The whole-​tail vehicles are said to be 100% safe to drive yet can have some mechanical and cosmetic problems. Well, let me start a list for you:
Sway bar links were completely wore out causing the truck to be very difficult to steer and control. This made the vehicle EXTREMELY unsafe to drive. I changed them the day after I bought the truck.
Needs new power steering pump
Needs new spark plugs and ignition coils
Needs new brake pads and rotors front and rear
Needs new shocks
Needs motor servicing due to ticking lifters
The sway bar links were only $ 54 and a pretty easy job to do myself. Besides being extremely unsafe to drive this wasn’t bad. But if you know anything about auto repair pricing, you know that the mechanical repairs needed on this truck is over $ 2000 at a mechanic.
I contacted The dealership asking what can be done and was given a very short reply stating I bought an as is vehicle and they are not going to do anything.
So my purpose for this review is to hopefully hit Sam Swope where it hurts, the pocketbook. They’re only in the business to make money and could care less about the satisfaction of their customers. Buyer BEWARE. If I stop one person from buying a vehicle, then this is worth my time. If it stops hundreds of people from buying vehicles from them, I can only hope! I will never look at a Sam Swope vehicle as long as I live. I will be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone I can of my experiences with this terrible business. I will be contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint.
I understand selling a «whole-​tail» vehicle states there may be some mechanical issues. But nobody buys a car to drive it off the lot with $ 2000+ worth of needy repairs.
In closing, I think what burns me the most about the experience was when I was given the quote for my trade, It was $ 1000 lower than I was expecting. I was too it needed new brakes and tires and a detail job, that’s why it was so low. I looked at the vehicle online when they posted it and they didn’t put new tires on it and I guarantee they didn’t put new brakes on either. This is the definition of a CROOK. This truck needed new brakes, but they didn’t put them on before selling it! It needed many things, but they didn’t do anything and they got me! Don’t let them get you! The sales people at Sam Swope Jeep Chrysler Dodge on Dixie is a crypt of crooks. Businesses like this should be investigated for taking advantage of people. So again, please do your homework before looking at Sam Swope vehicles. It was the best experience ever, and I hate car buying. Othello Bell is the most wonderful guy and found me the right vehicle, and you all provided financing to me which is actually better terms than my last loan. Everyone was nice and non-​judgmental and wanted me to succeed. The car is great and I like it better than my Kia Sportage. I will definitely return for future car purchases. Please give Othello a raise!

This review is for oxmoor Mazda. DO NOT GO HERE! They offered me a guaranteed amount for a trade (after spending 15 min explaining every detail of the car over the phone) and $ 1000 toward a new car «if I came in that day». So I went in and asked for Katie who was super sweet, but seemed very out of place. They did the appraisal on my car as I test drove the 2014 cx5. I fell IN LOVE. They offered me $ 2000 less than they «guaranteed» over the phone and the manager Avery came out and rudely took over Katie’s position to tell me «you can forget about the $ 1000 toward a new car because we don’t have that to give you». Then he belittled her by telling me the offer he was making me wouldn’t allow her to even get paid. He had a bad attitude. I told him I wouldn’t accept his offer even if it was less than what I expected to pay because they lied to get me in the door. I drove to Neil Huffman Mazda and got an awesome deal from Tracie instead. Had they been honest they would’ve had a $ 33,000 car sold.

My wife and I went here a couple weeks ago to purchase a car we saw online.
When we arrived they were prompt to get us in the vehicle, didn’t even bother with copying our driver’s licenses. On the test drive, the dealer knew absolutely nothing about the vehicle besides what was on the window sticker and in general didn’t really seem to care what we thought of this car.
We got back to the dealership and started looking over everything since we were still considering the purchase. The car had been in an accident and there was still visible damage on the fender, bent metal and chipped paint. Also dirty seats and a few other spots that hurt the value of the car.
When we sat down the dealer started filling out all of the paperwork without even discussing the price, he assumed we wanted to pay sticker and any attempts to bring up what price we wanted were dismissed until he had wasted 20 minutes going through all this paperwork.
The car was priced accurately for one in pristine condition and with 10k less miles and two years younger than this one. Finally we were able to make our offer, this is where the ridiculous act started, «okay, let me check with my manager, but first I have to know you’ll purchase today, like write a check and sign it today» the counter offer came back with the original price and an offer to detail the vehicle. So we got up to leave, he then begs us to let the manager talk to us. Thinking this is part of the deal I agree. So this guy walks over, ignores me and starts talking to my wife in the most patronizingly way possible «Sweetie, we can’t put you in that car for that ridiculous amount, we could sell one of these brand new for 30k.”(This was a lie, I can spec a top of the line model brand new from Mazda for 24k) and then proceeds to offer to put us in a completely different car for that amount.

We bought our car here about 3 years ago and have been very helpful. Will buy from here again. Our salesman moved out of state or we would have listed him as well.

As the other reviewers have stated, these people are liars of the biggest order, and incompetent.
They advertised a 2011 BMW 750i for $ 68,000 with a little over 3,000 miles. I called from PA to inquire and was told the car was in pristine condition and therefore they would not negotiate on the price. After thinking about it, I wrote to the salesman, Jeffrey Bricker, and told him I was interested but I wanted to avoid any surprises when the car arrived in Philadelphia, and would he please confirm in writing that the car was flawless both inside and out.
The word «flawless» is a little hard to misinterpret, don’t you think? It means perfect. Without flaw. Inside and out. Jeff wrote back that indeed the car had no issues and told me they would also have the car detailed before sending it to me.
When you buy a $ 68,000 car without looking at it in person, you have to trust the dealer. The alternative is to take an entire day to fly down, inspect the car, and fly back. I figured I could trust these guys to give me an honest report on a car that I was going to see in a few days. I mean, what kind of scumbag would tell you direct lies that you would obviously be seeing as soon as the car rolled off the truck? Oh, that would be Jeffrey Bricker and the other scumbag, the General Manager at Sam Swope BMW.
First of all, the car had almost 6,000 miles on it, not the 3k+ miles advertised. There is an actual cut in the leather on the center console. How does that even happen? More ruined leather on the back seat center armrest where someone stuffed hard plastic and then closed the armrest on it. That must have been in there for a while, because it came out when I opened the armrest for the first time (guess the detailer missed that). Even the transport people had noted scratches all over the front and back of the car because they didn’t want to be held responsible — and Bricker had signed that form! Meaning he agreed there were scratches. And these weren’t just scratches. In the front, it looked like someone drove under the back end of a semi, because the metal was so creased. There were numerous other problem areas — nine in all — that my «flawless» 750 came with.
After I calmed down, I wrote to Bricker and sent photos of each of the problems, asking that they pay for these issues to be corrected by the local BMW dealer. Bricker wrote back, saying any used car was going to have problems and this should be expected. «Expected.» Well, when you tell me a car is flawless, no, I don’t EXPECT it to have ripped leather, and scratches and indentations all over it. They offered me $ 150 to have everything fixed. Have any of you ever tried to have ANYTHING done on a BMW for $ 150? You couldn’t get a good detail job for that… which brings me back to the detail job they promised me. Were the pair of dirty socks I found on the floor in the back somehow overlooked by the detailer? Were the long strands of women’s hair throughout the car part not visible during the detail job? How about that hard plastic that ruined the leather on the back armrest? And I guess the black fingerprints on the roof cloth were… yes, something I should have EXPECTED since I was buying a used car.
Look, do yourself a favor and don’t even get involved with these liars and incompetents. I spoke to my attorney and she told me the laws about these kinds of things are vague. We could have pursued it, but the possibility was in the end we would not have been satisfied with the outcome. I have too much going on in my life to devote more time to these losers. I just hope enough people read this review and cost them a lot more than $ 150 through lost business.
